The proprietress is not only beautiful and kind, but also meticulous and reliable! She even helped us with our luggage and thoughtfully explained all the important tips for getting around and sightseeing. Staying here felt as comfortable and relaxed as being at home. I highly recommend Songzhuju for anyone visiting Lijiang – it's definitely the top choice for accommodation!"

"After a long journey, I've been meaning to leave a positive review for this guesthouse. I was traveling alone in Yunnan, and my original hotel was unreachable at the last minute. In a panic, I called this guesthouse. The owner was incredibly welcoming, helping me store my luggage safely early in the morning and even kindly reminding me to be careful when out and about, which made me feel very warm and cared for. The guesthouse itself is comfortable, with spacious common areas, and the rooms are clean and tidy. The service experience was excellent. After I left Lijiang, the owner found items I had accidentally left behind during cleaning. They patiently and meticulously helped me pack and mail them home, showing great responsibility. The owner's sincerity and warmth added so much comfort and unforgettable memories to this Lijiang trip. I highly recommend it and am very grateful!"

"Where do I even begin? My overall experience was simply fantastic. Let's start with the courtyard. The entrance has a rustic charm, and the whole courtyard feels elegant and serene. It's clear the owner converted their own home into this guesthouse. There are so many beautiful flowers and plants thriving in the yard, especially a cluster of multi-petaled roses. You can tell the owner has a real passion for life. There are also several cats and two sheep in the courtyard; one of the blue cats has gotten quite chunky and is absolutely adorable! The place feels so lively, and there's a strong sense of local ethnic culture, creating a wonderful atmosphere. The owner contacted us in advance about pick-up and drop-off. The young man who picked us up was very kind – I think he's the owner's son. He reached out to us beforehand and even helped with our luggage. Because the guesthouse isn't on the main street, it's very quiet and perfect for relaxing (though it's still very close to the main street, just a short walk away). Then there's the important part: the room. Since it was the off-season, the guesthouse was pretty quiet, and the owner let us choose our own room. The room has an overall wooden structure, and the decor has a strong, beautiful ******* feel. It was spotlessly clean and tidy, equipped with an oxygen concentrator and a humidifier. In winter, there's underfloor heating and electric blankets – everything you could possibly need. All toiletries were also provided. Next up, breakfast. The owner herself cooked millet porridge, steamed buns, and eggs, along with some side dishes. The matsutake mushroom and meat sauce were especially delicious! They went perfectly with the meal. Now, about the owner's family – they are all incredibly warm and friendly. Chatting with them, you realize they're genuinely kind people. They even gave us recommendations for attractions and tips for our visit. If we came back late and saw the owner, she'd always greet us with a few kind words. Although we only stayed for a short two days, we felt a real sense of belonging. Words can't fully express it, but I'll definitely recommend this place if I come back to Shangri-La or if any friends visit. Finally, I wish the owner lasting joy and health, and a thriving business."

"I had a great stay at this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, and check-in was quick and easy. My room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything I needed. The location was very convenient, close to key places but still quiet enough for a good night’s sleep. The facilities, including Wi-Fi were also excellent. Overall, it offers great value and a comfortable experience. I would definitely stay here again."

"Great location, just about 100 meters from the North Gate of the old town, a few steps away. There are restaurants downstairs and shops selling warm clothes right outside, which is super convenient. Just a heads up, the guesthouse sign isn't lit up, so you might need to look carefully when trying to find it."

"I had such a wonderful stay here! The hotel owner is incredibly friendly, funny, and kind. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with fresh fruits, candies, and a cup of tea, which made us feel right at home. Every time we walked past the reception, they would greet us warmly, making the whole experience feel so personal and welcoming. The hotel itself is beautiful, spotless, and very well maintained. The facilities exceeded our expectations, especially considering how affordable the price is compared to other hotels in the area. The location is also perfect—it’s surrounded by plenty of restaurants and convenience stores, and it’s just a short walk to Lijiang Old Town. Overall, we had an amazing experience. Everything about this place made us feel comfortable, relaxed, and truly at home. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Lijiang! 🤍"

"We enjoyed our stay at 在山也. The owners and staff were incredibly helpful - they not only helped us with our luggages, provided us with great recommendations for food and tips for various activities but also offered us tea every day during our stay. We even got offered 鲜花饼 when we checked in! 🤤 The room was comfortable and we had fun with the smart room controls with 小度. The sound of the toilet flushing can be a little noisy. For people who are sensitive to sounds, singing from nearby bars can be heard from the room. Location wise, the B&B is located on top of a hill which gave beautiful views of the mountains and Li Jiang Ancient City. Fair warning, the steps can be slippery when wet. We would recommend this hotel!"

"Beautiful place to stay! The traditional style and decor is beautiful, the amenities are great and bathroom is modern and nice. There’s a nice courtyard to sit in and sitting areas. The owner and staff were very helpful and friendly and the owner spoke English. She cared for me when I got sick as well. I had a wonderful time hanging out with the owner and some other guests having traditional drinks and snacks. There was free fruit and cute cats. The location is great in the old town with lots of restaurants and shops around. I would definitely stay here again! Great price."

"This was not a very comfortable place to spend four nights; here is a list of the pros and cons. Pros: 1) The location at the edge of the old town is great - it's a short walk to the main sights. 2) The view over the city at night is nice. 3) The bedding that was provided was cozy and warm. Cons: 1) The location was hard to find (Amap doesn't have it marked correctly) and to get to with luggage (taxis cannot drive close to it, so I was dropped off several hundred meters away and had to walk uphill over cobblestones). 2) The shower drain is not in the lowest part of the floor, so after a shower the bathroom floor turns into a lake (and if you don't remove the drain cover before showering, it's an even bigger lake!). Because I wanted the floor to dry out within the next day, I spent several minutes kicking the water towards the drain after each shower. 3) The water in both the shower and the sink was either cold or burning hot most of the time - it was usually not possible to get it to stay at a warm temperature for very long. 4) The room was cold at night and in the morning (there is an electric blanket on the bed, but the room itself is not heated). 5) The ”disposable” towel was thin and not very satisfying to towel off with (particularly after a cold, drafty shower followed by five minutes of kicking water towards the drain). 6) The mattress was very hard (it felt like a board with a blanket on top). 7) When I arrived the host said to send any questions through WeChat, but it took many hours for him to see the messages I sent. In one case, this caused me a substantial problem (to his credit, he apologized and also paid for a Didi to the train station when I left). 8) Late in my stay the host offered me a ”free gift” if I left a five-star review (I really dislike it when hosts try to bribe guests to leave perfect reviews, since that undermines the value of the reviews for other guests - so I said no, if I leave a review it will be an honest one)."

"This hostel in Kunming offers incredible value for money! The common areas are huge, and the terrace view is absolutely stunning. It's so comfortable to sunbathe during the day and enjoy the breeze at night. The place is cleaned very diligently, and the bedding is fresh and odorless. The staff at the front desk are all super enthusiastic and proactively recommend local snacks and travel routes. As a solo traveler, I felt completely safe and secure here!"
