"The hotel was very close to the center and had an amazing view (river, bridge and even a show). The room was very spacious and comfortable. The receptionist was also very kind, he came to pick us up and carried our luggage to the hotel and called us a taxi (didi is not available in Fenghuang). The only downside is that something was leaking in the bathroom so the floors were wet (but that did not bother us) and some things weren't clean (the bedside lamp had so much dust and we found a hair on the mattress)."

"The B&B's location is absolutely unbeatable, offering the best views. We came to Furong Ancient Town mainly for the scenery, so choosing this place was definitely the right call. Due to its mountainous terrain, the overall cleanliness of Furong Ancient Town is a bit concerning, and the difficulty of getting up and down the hills probably makes maintaining hygiene quite challenging. The ladies at the reception desk of the B&B had a generally lukewarm attitude; we didn't see a single smile from them. The gentlemen, however, were all very nice. The restaurant staff provided great service, and the food tasted good too."

"Room was very nice, facilities were all good. Location was a quick walk to the waterfall. The towels had holes in them, there were dead squished flies on the walls. We weren't aware when booking that the entry to the scenic area wasn't included so we paid another 90 yuan per person just to enter. The staff were generally helpful but she confused the paid performances with others. We were told we could watch each of the performances but then were refused to enter the area. But, they offered a free pick up from the railway station and offered to for a ride back. The room is right next to a bar with live music so isn't quiet at night."

Hotel near Zhangjiajie National Forest Park/Wulingyuan,Zhangjiajie
Louzhongxiaoge Inn is located at No. 29 Huanxi Road, Junpingdi Subdistrict, Wulingyuan District, Zhangjiajie (East Gate of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park Sign Gate). Nestled amid the towering peak forests and sea of clouds, it serves as an ideal rest stop for travelers exploring this World Natural Heritage Site. Adjacent to the glistening waters of Baofeng Lake and facing the lush green woods of the National Forest Park, the inn is within walking distance to the mysterious Huanglong Cave, and only a short drive away from the thrilling Grand Canyon Glass Bridge hanging high above the clouds. As night falls, the folk bonfire party of Charm Xiangxi and the epic performance of Romance of the Millennium weave a distinctive cultural totem of the Xiangxi land for every visitor. The guest rooms inherit the traditional architectural aesthetics of Xiangxi. Wooden window frames frame the ever-shifting mountain scenery, while modern amenities are seamlessly integrated into mortise and tenon structures. Custom bedding eases weariness from journeys; private bathrooms supply warm spring water for a soothing bath. Central air conditioning and high-speed Wi-Fi quietly guarantee a comfortable modern stay. When twilight drapes over the Wuling mountain range, you may push open the window to watch stars seem to fall into mountain streams, and drift off to sleep accompanied by the soft sigh of pine waves. It is both a starting point for hiking the perilous peaks of Tianzi Mountain and a peaceful retreat to admire the moonlight over Golden Whip Stream. The heart-stopping thrill of the glass plank road, the dreamlike scenery of Baofeng Lake, and the vivid tales behind Tujia brocade will all become precious treasures stored in your memory. We await your arrival behind the carved wooden door, with morning mist lingering under the eaves of stilt houses and lingering warmth of pounded tea in bowls. Embrace the embrace of surrounding mountains, and compose your own unique chapter amid the Wuling landscapes.

"Clean and comfortable room and great hosts who will help you with any organisation you need. I also liked that the room was only cleaned on request- better for environment and your privacy. The location is good in that it is on a street with good cheap local food and businesses, however it is a 25min walk to the East Gate of Zhangjiajie National Park. The walk is pleasant along the river and past a park where I saw groups dancing. But at the end of a day of hiking you might want to get a didi back. It is also a 20min walk to the bus stop and a short walk to the more touristy restaurants on the river (the last pic is from the street)."

"We only stayed one night, but honestly? We wished it were longer. The traditional wooden decor, the soft lantern glow, the mountain view from the room — it felt like stepping into a friend’s cozy mountain guesthouse, not a hotel. And the location was a dream: rolling out of bed and being minutes from the park entrance made our whole Zhangjiajie day effortless. After hours of climbing among those floating Avatar pillars, coming back here felt like a soft exhale. Clean, charming, ridiculously good value. If you’re visiting the park, this is where you want to wake up."

Baihexi Valley Inn in Furong Town is located in the core scenic spot of Furong Town, only 5 minutes' walk to the Grand Waterfall. The inn has a Chinese decoration style, complete hardware facilities, 24-hour hot and cold water, WiFi wireless network seamless coverage, Tujia national cuisine and so on, which will make your trip to Furong Town more enjoyable. You only need to have fun, and the rest can be left to us!

"Stayed June 2026 — 5/5, would book again I picked Baihe River Valley because it sits right inside the core scenic area of Furong Town, and that turned out to be the best decision of the trip. The inn is only about a 5-minute walk to the Grand Waterfall, opened in 2020 with just 21 rooms, so it feels small and personal rather than a big hotel. First impression: awesome staff. I was met at the entrance, luggage carried up, and even though my Mandarin is limited we sorted everything on WeChat in two minutes. That matches what other guests keep saying — “really friendly and helpful… view was amazing and rooms clean”, and “staff are so lovely, kind and helpful”. They also arranged a free pickup from the train station and dropped me back the next morning, which took all the stress out of arriving in the ancient town. The environment is exactly what you hope for in Furong. Chinese-style décor, warm wood, and it’s spotless — 24-hour hot water, strong WiFi everywhere, daily housekeeping. My mountain-view queen room was 25m², quiet, no dust, bed made perfectly each day. Others note the same: “room is clean and bed was comfortable”. Food was a real highlight. The in-house restaurant runs a la carte from 07:30 to 19:30 with outdoor tables, and breakfast is Chinese-style 07:30–09:30. I tried their Tujia national cuisine in the evening — simple, hearty, locally sourced — and the home-cooked breakfast the next morning was tasty and warming, just as another guest described. Breakfast was “nice” is an understatement when you’re eating it with the waterfall mist in the air. And the views. One of a kind is not marketing. From my third-floor window I could see the tiled roofs of Furong Ancient Town, and at night the whole gorge lights up. The hotel is positioned “very well, close to the waterfall at 5 minutes walk”, and I was upgraded to a room looking down onto the ancient town — “particularly amazing at night”. Waking up to the roar of the falls, drinking tea on the balcony, watching the lights reflect off the river — that’s the memory I’ll keep. Practical bits: 24/7 front desk, check-in after 12:00, check-out before 14:00, free shuttle service available, pets allowed, and the staff will help with town entry tickets. Overall: friendly people who actually care, great local food, an impeccably clean and calm base, and waterfall views you can’t get anywhere else. It’s currently rated 9.5/10 from 757 reviews, and after staying, I get why. If you want to experience Furong Town without the crowds and noise, stay here — and ask for a mountain-view room on floor 3 or 4."

This is a pretty good hotel with a distinct Xiangxi (Western Hunan) style. The owner is very attentive and reached out to me via WeChat a day in advance. Knowing we were a family with two adults and two children, they thoughtfully provided extra pillows and slippers for the kids. Parking is available across the street at the government building, and it's free on holidays. It's also a short walk to the East Gate, which is very convenient. Five-star rating, highly recommend staying here!

I can’t recommend this place enough! Where do I even start? The location is unbeatable—so close to the main gate of the Avatar Mountains. Our room was incredibly comfortable and came with a great view, with every amenity we could possibly need. But the absolute cherry on top was the marvelous owner. She helped us customize an itinerary based on the exact amount of time we had. She was also incredibly thoughtful regarding my mom’s age (64yo), planning a route so she could fully enjoy the breathtaking views without having to walk too much (which was a lifesaver since the park is massive!). We followed it to the letter and we had the best experience! Don’t think It twice! You won’t regret booking this place! Thank you so much; without your help, we wouldn't have enjoyed the park nearly as much as we did. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! Gracias ☺️

Floral Hotel has a wonderful atmosphere that feels like a perfect mix between a hotel and being at home. Many of the reviews mention the owners, and after staying here ourselves, we completely understand why. Mrs. Huang and her husband are truly wonderful people who made us feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived. The room options were excellent, and our room was always clean, tidy, cozy, and very comfortable throughout our stay. Towels were changed daily, trash was taken out regularly, and the level of care and attention to detail was exceptional. We happened to arrive during several rainy days and unfortunately both caught colds while travelling. Mrs. Huang was exceptionally kind and supportive — preparing delicious and nutritious breakfasts for us each morning, helping us book attraction tickets at affordable prices, and giving us helpful advice and recommendations every single day. One particularly rainy day, while we were out sightseeing, she even turned the heating on in our room before we returned so we could immediately warm up and enjoy a hot shower after being out in the cold and rain. It was such a thoughtful gesture and truly appreciated. What touched us most was the genuine care we received throughout our stay. On our final day, despite us leaving very early in the morning, Mrs. Huang woke up to prepare breakfast for us at 5:30am before our departure. We were also in the area preparing for a friend’s wedding, and Mrs. Huang kindly recommended local barbers, a nail salon, and a lovely local restaurant, which made everything so much easier for us. The neighbourhood itself has such a warm community feel, and the hotel truly feels like a home away from home. Although Mrs. Huang does not speak English, she has a fantastic translation device which made discussing more complex topics very easy. She made every effort to ensure communication was smooth and effortless, and we never felt uncomfortable or unsupported. The hotel also has washing facilities available, and during sunny days you can dry your clothes on the rooftop under a covered area, which is incredibly useful for longer stays or after rainy sightseeing days. Although Floral Hotel is not a large modern hotel chain, that is exactly part of its charm. The wooden and rustic design fits perfectly with the character and atmosphere of the wider Wulingyuan area, creating a peaceful and authentic place to stay. It feels warm, personal, and relaxing rather than commercial or impersonal. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, caring, and restful place with genuine hospitality. We are incredibly grateful for the kindness and hospitality we experienced here and would happily stay again in the future.

The room looked new and was very clean. This hotel is run by a family, and they were always smiling, friendly, and available to help us. The host kindly came to pick us up in the parking lot and even drove us to the city center for our next destination, which we really appreciated. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the morning, and also had lunch there. They cooked especially for us, doing their best to make it perfect. I truly recommend this place and their child is absolutely adorable!

Staying at Forest homestay was the best decision we could have made during our trip to China. The service was truly 5 star. The staff at the lodge are so kind, helpful and efficient. We got personalised itineraries each day that changed a lot based on the weather, which was quite mixed! I was very impressed by their efficiency and flexibility. Each day we were driven to and from the park gate (for free). Pickup was within a couple of mins of us messaging that we were ready to leave. All of the staff were wonderful, but Guo Pu was a standout from our trip. Not only did he cart us around and respond to any questions via WeChat within minutes, but he made sure we got the most out of our time there - he pulled fruit from fruit trees at the lodge for us to eat, showed us the various animals they keep onsite, and took photos of us at the sky mirror. He was really great at giving instructions for getting the best effects! (Photos attached) The room was superb - lots of great features like a heated air function in the shower that was helpful for drying off wet clothes after we got caught in a downpour. The room is a rustic style and there’s a few places that could do with a lick of paint and tidying up, but this added more to the rustic charm! The view really was incredible. The location of the lodge might first seem far from the action of the park, but trust me, this is a blessing in disguise! The park gets incredibly busy, especially around Yuanjiajie. The busyness really can ruin the natural beauty. Being close to the Westgate allows you to access the park from the most uncommon direction which is actually marvellous as it means you are less likely to get caught up in crowds and queues as you are travelling around the park in the opposite direction of the vast majority of the tourists. This really makes a difference and maximising the time that you have in the park. Because of the mixed weather, we ended up travelling most of the top sights in the park again on the single good weather day and this worked really well because of our direction of travel. The Westgate is much quieter and the surrounding area is much more peaceful than the busy area around the east gates. This allows you to really enjoy the peace and beauty of nature when you aren’t exploring the park. I would highly recommend staying here when you visit Zhangjiajie, and I’d like to thank all of the staff for such a magical and amazing time.

First off, I want to commend the staff for their warm hospitality. They helped us book tickets and even planned our routes, which was incredibly helpful. The location is also fantastic, just a few minutes' walk from the East Gate of the Forest Park. The complimentary bottled water and orange candies were a thoughtful touch. However, there were no bath mats, so the slippers were always wet, and we ended up tracking water everywhere. The facilities are a bit dated and could really use a renovation. The hot water situation was particularly frustrating. Coming back after 9 PM, all I wanted was a nice, warm shower, especially in the middle of winter, but there was no hot water. We waited until 11 PM or even midnight, and the water was still lukewarm at best, almost cold. This happened both nights... this definitely needs to be addressed! After a tiring hike, all you want is to relax with a hot shower, but that wasn't possible. There were no bath towels either, but that wasn't as big of a deal. Overall, the service was excellent, but I hope the other amenities can catch up.

Our stay at this lodge was absolutely unforgettable. The views were simply breathtaking, waking up and looking out over such beautiful scenery was an experience in itself. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help with anything we needed, which made the whole stay feel so relaxing and comfortable. Also really close to the park and they even offered a free shuttle to the park. The food was also outstanding, with every meal being fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared. Most of all, this lodge was the perfect place to unwind and relax. The peaceful atmosphere combined with the amazing surroundings made it a truly special getaway. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing escape with incredible views and exceptional hospitality.
