A beautiful Chinese courtyard-style house with a charming rose garden, this stay was truly unforgettable. Our hosts, May and David, went above and beyond to make our visit to the Great Wall and our time in China as perfect as possible. They booked our entry tickets, guided us through the process at the ticket booth, and shared invaluable tips on using Chinese apps, something that was especially helpful since this was our very first hotel in China. May’s homemade rose tea and the delicious home-cooked meals prepared by David’s father were full of flavor and warmth. From the moment we booked about a month in advance, May stayed in contact with us, offering advice and assistance with apps and logistics. She and David also arranged a cab for us to the Water Great Wall and back to our hotel in the city, making everything seamless. More than just wonderful hosts, they have become good friends. We still keep in touch, and even now while we are in Guangzhou, they continue offering advice whenever we need it. For anyone new to China, this is not just the best place to stay, it’s also a connection to kind-hearted people who make your journey truly special.

Our room was great, and the location was super convenient for all the nearby attractions. I had a wonderful time with my friend. The hotel facilities are excellent, the atmosphere is cozy, and the service was good too. I'd definitely come back again.

Have long been a fan of the Orchid and often visit the restaurants co located there - Toast and TBS are favourites. As such, with family visiting the Orchid was the obvious choice! An amazing location tucked in the Hutongs near the Bell and Drum towers. Both in the surrounding area and venue itself, spoilt for choice for food and restaurants. Room was cosy, clean and beautifully decorated. Two very friendly cats too. Staff genuinely fantastic and went above and beyond throughout our time there - thank you! The only fault - and reason for ranking amenities lower currently - is that there is significant work taking place at the reception (March 2025). I was aware of this having visited Toast in Feb however, had hoped this would’ve been completed by our stay and was disappointed at still being charged at the full rate given this disruption. In addition to a crowded check in / lack of communal space, this also meant rerouting through the restaurants (and up / down winding stairs), so one to note for anyone with accessibility requirements. Nevertheless a great stay and hope to be back again soon!

Honestly, the best thing that happened to me on this trip to Beijing was choosing this hotel! 😭 The two ladies at the front desk, the manager, and the aunts and uncles who cleaned the rooms were all so warm and incredibly kind. They were always ready to help with anything I didn't know about the city and offered fantastic suggestions and advice for my trip. Plus, they even provided a complimentary breakfast in the mornings, which was such a thoughtful and heartwarming touch. The breakfast itself was delicious and made every morning feel so happy. It's also super convenient to get to Tiananmen Square from here; you can just walk. When I leave Beijing this time, I won't miss the city itself, but I will truly miss all the wonderful people at this hotel. I'm already thinking of them! 😭❤️ I'll definitely be staying here again on my next trip to Beijing! 😭😭😭😭

Checked in at the visitor Center and they sent our luggage to the hotel straight. The hotel comes with free entry to Gubeishuizhen and Simatai Great Wall and cable car. Hotel is clean and staff is friendly. Near the square to watch the drone show too. Also able to take the shuttle bus around the town

After several years, I chose to visit Gubei Water Town again. After comparing various online platforms, I decided to stay at this inn. Overall, it was pretty good, except the bed was a bit small for us traveling with a child. It would have been great if we could have added an extra bed, but I didn't think to ask at the time, so I'm sharing this as a tip for others! Service: The overall service at the inn was quite good. Environment: The inn's breakfast was just standard.

There is one major problem. The room is on the first floor, and outside the window is a courtyard of a residential area. Someone is cooking, and the smell will drift in. Everything else is OK, and the front desk will solve it quickly if there is a need. There is a big mark on the lower part of the curtain near the radiator.

It was a great spot for my girlfriend and I because it was near where our friends lived, very convenient for that purpose. Quiet, outside of the city center. Awesome choice for anyone looking for a calmer place, away from the bustle and hustle of Beijing. But if you’re traveling to sightsee all the famous spots, then this hotel’s location is a little out of the way. The balcony was the cherry on top. I love balconies. The only thing I didn’t like was the partition in the bathroom shower. The water kept flowing outside and into the rest of bathroom, getting the floors all wet. Why not install an actual door?

✨ A Hidden Gem by the River in Gubei City ✨ This charming little hotel in the heart of a picturesque Chinese water town is an absolute treasure! The owners are wonderfully kind and do everything they can to make guests feel at home. When we forgot to set an alarm, they gently woke us so we wouldn’t miss breakfast — which, by the way, is fresh, delicious, and prepared exactly to your wishes. In the evening, you can enjoy dinner right at the river’s edge while watching gondolas glide quietly past — an unforgettable sight. From our room, we also had a breathtaking view of the Great Wall. A place full of peace, warmth, and genuine hospitality. We only wish we could stay longer. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a truly special experience in China! 🌿✨

Hotel was very near to the Great wall cable car entrance. Clean and calm environment. I stayed with my family and enjoyed the stay in this hotel. I recommend all my friends to book this hotel if you are visiting Badaling, Great Wall. Hotel restaurant provided us food and it is not expensive. To have a relaxed journey, you can book this hotel and stay overnight at Badaling.
