The hotel manager is both attractive and extremely helpful. They kindly receive packages sent by my friends, assist me in exchanging cash to Alipay balance, and though their English is limited, we communicate effortlessly using a translation app. 谢谢!
Lezai is truly one of the best, if not the best, places I have ever stayed. Over the course of 12 nights, we were welcomed by the friendliest team, who made us feel like family. Their care and attention to detail were exceptional—from surprising us with a birthday cake to going above and beyond when we lost our phone in a DiDi car. Thanks to their efforts, we were able to recover it. When we fell sick for two days, the team took great care of us, ensuring we had everything we needed.
The room was spacious and perfect for our family of six, providing comfort and plenty of space. Located in the heart of a bustling Hutong, Lezai is a stunning four-courtyard hotel that truly captures the charm of traditional Beijing. They serve delicious breakfast and high tea, and we were delighted to experience their special dumpling-making event on New Year’s Eve. It genuinely felt like a home away from home. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a warm, welcoming, and authentic stay!

This is my first time staying in a B&B. The environment is very good. It is close to the Great Wall. Although it is the farthest end of the ancient town, you can enjoy it all the way down from the Great Wall. There is a rooftop on the second floor, which must be very comfortable in summer. It was cold at night, but I still took some beautiful pictures of the stars. The massage chair in the room is so comfortable. I really enjoyed the massage after coming down from the Great Wall. The price is discounted during non-holidays, which is perfect~

During the May Day holiday, a family of four came to Yanqing for fun. My son wanted to go fishing and found that his family had a big fish pond. He was very happy to fish for two days after he came. His home is in a very good location, with convenient transportation, small forests and streams around, and very good air. The courtyard is well designed and very suitable for children to play. The homestay is not far from Yongning Ancient City, which is very convenient to play. Finally, I would like to praise the owner and the owner's wife of the store. They are very nice and helped us to check out late, so that we can have a good time. We will come again next time if we have the opportunity.

The Siheyuan is in a great location, in Cherry Hutong, Dashilar. It is very convenient to go shopping at Qianmen Street at night. The subway station is about a 15-minute walk away, so it is also convenient for travel. The decoration is simple and clean, and the proprietress is warm and generous. When I booked it, there was only a twin room. After arriving at the store, the proprietress upgraded it to a king-size bed room for free. My husband and I are very satisfied. Thank you!
Three sevens and two youngsters came to play together, and the Taoyuan accommodation was just right. The small courtyard is very design, full of literary style, and any corner is very popular. The living is very comfortable, that is, the May Day Mountain is still cold in the morning and evening, the room on the first floor is especially cold, if you bring elderly people to pay attention to bring more clothes, the room is air-conditioned, but the living room is not. The small courtyard is spacious enough, and the barbecue entertainment for a family is very private. There are many surrounding attractions, but there is no need to go. The small courtyard is opposite the creek. In summer, you can step on the water and catch fish. In addition, there are many entertainment projects in the small courtyard itself, which is enough for adults and children to relax for two or three days. In addition, give two more praises, one is to praise the service, the tableware, rice cooker, seasoning quilts are satisfied and timely, and the store will send them back when I leave. The second is to praise breakfast, buffet, although there are not many types but they are all the taste of home, the breakfast staple food for two days is different, the food is very comfortable, especially the soy milk must be drunk.

Hotel was very near to the Great wall cable car entrance. Clean and calm environment. I stayed with my family and enjoyed the stay in this hotel. I recommend all my friends to book this hotel if you are visiting Badaling, Great Wall. Hotel restaurant provided us food and it is not expensive. To have a relaxed journey, you can book this hotel and stay overnight at Badaling.
The guesthouse was really good, it was clean and the people at the desk were always very nice and helpful. Although the place is indeed a bit hard to find as it is located in the very small streets of the hutong, it is very close to Nanluoguxiang and its lively atmosphere.

GGuest UserThis was a wonderfully unique experience for us living in a (fully renovated) stone house in an ancient village at the foot of the Great Wall. March is a great time to visit if you prefer peace and quiet and few tourists. The inn is quaint and pleasant. The room is small and cozy, and the ambience, including the large bay window overlooking the street and the large wooden beams on the ceiling, makes you feel like you really are living in another era. The inn is located inside the Watertown, so you will need to walk a bit from the entrance of the Watertown. It is centrally located in the Watertown, so you are right in the middle of all the fun and activity. We really appreciated the free luggage service - you drop off your luggage at the entrance when you purchase tickets and enter the Watertown, and they bring your luggage to your inn. Once you’re done enjoying the Watertown and Great Wall, your luggage is waiting for you at the inn. Breakfast at the inn was absolutely delicious - highly recommend trying the wonton soup and the fresh soy milk!

AAnonymous UserStayed for 2 nights in Oct 2024, planned for 1 night to visit around the town itself and another night for the Simatai Great Wall.
1. Location - Inn is located within Gubei Watertown and it is necessary to go through the watertown to visit the Simatai Great Wall. By booking an accommodation within the town gives you discounted entrance price into the town and since we planned to visit the great wall and explore the town itself we have decided to stay for 2 nights (also partly the cost and time to travel there from Beijing). Inn is located near the main square where some performances are held and near a shuttle service stop (free shuttle services within town if you’re staying in an accommodation within town. Overall a good location within town.
2. Room - Booked a family room for 4 (2 single beds in each level). Room is mostly made of wood hence its not really a modern feel and its not really sound-proof which the staff has notified in advance. Room is spacious and bathroom is big. Stairs that goes up to the 2nd level is stable but can be a little steep for seniors. Overall the room is decent. It comes with tomatoes, peanuts and tea as welcome gift.
3. Luggage - There’s a luggage service whereby you can arrange for your luggage to be transported to your hotel from entrance, and from hotel back to entrance. This is definitely needed as the ground in the watertown is not a smooth surface and can be hard to carry your luggages around.
4. Services & breakfast - Staff’s services is really good and efficient! Breakfast is simple but has good variety. There’s the buffet portion which consists of small dishes for porridge, bread, bun, drinks etc. And there’s an alacarte portion where you need to order in advance the night before such as bacon, egg, sausages, noodles etc. i think its a good initiative to avoid wastage.
Overall a very good stay and would recommend if you are visiting Gubei Watertown and would like to stay in a more traditional feel.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Mountain Companion Inn in Gubei Watertown near Beijing, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape. The inn sits amidst rolling hills, and the view of the quaint Gubei Watertown was simply mesmerizing.
The interior of the inn was equally impressive. Immaculately clean and tastefully decorated, it exuded an inviting charm that made me feel right at home. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the interior design, creating a warm and welcoming ambiance.
But what truly set this inn apart was the exceptional service provided by the staff. From the receptionists to the housekeeping team, everyone was friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. They were knowledgeable about the area and offered helpful recommendations on places to explore, making our visit even more enjoyable.
During our stay, we took advantage of the various activities the inn had to offer, such as hiking trails and boat rides through the Watertown’s waterways. Each excursion allowed us to immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of the surroundings, and it was a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Overall, the Mountain Companion Inn at Gubei Watertown is a true gem. It seamlessly blends modern comfort with the tranquility of nature, offering an ideal retreat for those seeking a serene getaway. I highly recommend this inn to anyone visiting the area, as it promises an enchanting experience that will leave you with cherished memories for years to come.

AAnonymous UserThe inn is in a prime location, 1-2 minutes walk from Sun Moon Island Square. It's the most fun to watch drones at night.
At 19:00, I went to watch the water dance show first, and then walked to Sun Moon Island Square. The drone show started in about 5 minutes. I ordered food to the proprietress on WeChat while waiting. After watching the show, I returned to the inn and started eating. After eating, I took a short break and returned to the square to watch the second drone show. It was really smooth throughout the whole process, without taking any detours or wasting a minute.
The inn is small. Although the room is not big, it is clean and hygienic, with complete facilities, and very quiet in the off-season. The proprietress is enthusiastic and the boss cooks very delicious food. It was a very happy stay experience.

GGuest UserThe service was excellent, and everything was clean and tidy. We were offered jasmine tea while we checked in, and got free pastries when we checked out. It had a lovely atmosphere, and we loved playing with the cats. Our courtyard room was lovely, nice bathroom, and very warm and comfy bed. We had a sky-light naive our beds which was such a treat. We unfortunately only had a chance to try the Mediterranean breakfast restaurant, but the Shakshuka we pre-ordered (due to our early departure) was the best I've ever had. My friend also loved that it was in a Hutong.
GGuest UserCao's Great Wall Hostel in Badaling is a sweet little hotel in a village where the owner, David, grew up. Out of an ancient courtyard compound was created the hostel along a hutong near the Great Wall. It's a small enterprise with small, immaculately clean guest rooms that have everything a traveler needs for a comfortable stay. The courtyard garden is teeming with healthy blooming plants that are tended to with much care. The neighborhood is extremely quiet with small restaurants and storefronts just down the street. David and his wife speak fluent English and they are both warm, outgoing, and eager to assist their guests. Indeed, they go out of their way to be sure you're comfortable and well taken of. From their small hotel menu, I ordered egg and tomato noodle soup for dinner and fried chicken steak with coffee the next morning. Both meals cooked by David's father were simple and delicious.
Although very close to the Great Wall, Cao's Hostel is a bit tricky to find from the railway station. David provides a video guide on how to reach it nand I found him waiting on the street for me when I finally got to the point where we turned into his village.
For a very homey stay run by a lovely family in an extremely quiet area near the Great Wall at an excellent price, I highly recommend Cao's Great Wall Hostel.

GGuest UserDuring the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, I took my parents to stay in the small courtyard. The small courtyard is located at the innermost part of Xizhazi Village and is very quiet. The yard is decorated with flowers everywhere, the room is clean and comfortable, the boss Xiaocui and the ladies who serve in the yard are very nice, and the food is delicious. There is a terrace on the roof, where you can enjoy the view and enjoy the cool weather. Looking up, you can see the lush green mountains and the winding Great Wall. There is a large mirror for taking all kinds of beautiful photos, and you can watch the stars at night. All in all, I had a great time spending two days here, and I highly recommend it!

SSliewGreat simple inn that was suitable for us as a couple. Not that big but comfortable enough. Location was perfect for us as we wanted to visit the Simatai section of the Great Wall. The inn is only few steps from the entrance to the cable-car that takes you up to the Great Wall. Room had heater to keep us warm in the night and hot water showers. Simple breakfast selection with a mix of western and chinese options and overall tasted good. While I didn't get to try out their in-house hot spring bath, it's good to know they have that facility for the guest. Staff were friendly and helpful (as much as they could with the language barrier) and went about their work quietly. All in all, a great accommodation for a simple overnight stay.
Also good that for guests staying inside the Gubei Water Town, there is complimentary shuttle bus service from the main car park to the in/hotel and also within the town. Including transporting your luggage to your inn / hotel.
