Vaporetto (Passenger Ferry) in Venice

In Venice, the main public transport is Vaporetto (Passenger Ferry). There are ferries around the island and on the Canal Grande in Venice. The water taxis and gondolas are relatively much more expensive. I love taking Vaporetto, so relaxing to travel on water buses to see the beautiful small towns, to explore the little alleys of Venice, and budget friendly too. It will stop in Venice and the nearby islands such as Murano, Burano, and the Lido. Ambiance/Facilities: 10/10 Rating: 5/5

Venice is sinking! What a romantic city to have a pitstop with your significant other. Venice was a really pretty city to stop by for a day, short and sweet. 📍 Itinerary Overview 🚩 Sightseeing Route Take a trip to the east of the island to escape the crowds and visit the parks, the. Go to the Ghetto which in March was very easy to Accra and away from many of the tourists. The Rialto area is great to experience and there are many great Cicceterias. 🏖️ Must-Visit Attractions Basilica San Marco, Campanile San Marco, Academie Musuem 🚇 Transportation From the airport get the Vaporetto to the city of Venice. It is excellent value, currently €15 one way per person, and this takes you to a number of spots in the city. You can access all manner of places from there using the Blue or Orange line. 📷 Photo Spots 🍜 Local Cuisine Al Novo, Osteria alle Testiere to follow in Stanley Tucci’s footsteps, any of the cicceteria’s, 🏠 Accommodation For somewhere quiet to stay we chose the Castello area. This felt very local but there are great places to eat and accommodation options are available for all budgets. 💡 Tips

St Mark’s Square

#urbanwanderings St Mark’s Square, also known as Piazza San Marco which was once famously called “The drawing room of Europe” and it is the largest piazza in Venice. St. Mark's Square is located at the heart of Venice, near the Grand Canal and the Doge's Palace. At the square, you will able to see the beautiful surrounding galleries, St Mark’s Basilica and the Campanile or Bell Tower. You may even see a top of the Doge’s Palace. You can take a moment, find a restaurant and have some wine and small plates to enjoy the building, music and environment.

Italy Free Travel - Venice

During our free travel in Italy on February 10th and 11th, we visited Venice, a water city located in the northeast of Italy. Comprising 118 islands, it has been rated by various magazines as one of the '50 must-visit destinations in a lifetime.' The city relies entirely on water transportation, with no vehicles. We bought a two-day water bus pass, which allowed unlimited rides. Using it was simple - just open Google Maps, set your destination, and it will tell you which pier, platform, and boat number to take. On the first day, we visited Murano, the glass island, and Burano, the colorful island. I preferred Burano with its brightly colored houses. There's a legend that fishermen's families painted their houses in vibrant colors so that their husbands could easily find their way home after fishing. On the second day, we took a boat to the San Marco area, admired the historical sites along the way, and then leisurely walked back to our hotel, enjoying a relaxed and pleasant day. For accommodation in Venice, it's recommended to book near the train station rather than further into the city. The roads are uneven, and there are many bridges, which can make carrying luggage quite frustrating.

Burano, Venice’s Rainbow Island

We took a one-day trip to Burano during our stay in Venice. Burano is well known for its lace sewing, colourful houses, great for photo taking. The island is quiet, peaceful and beautiful. It was so relaxing to walk around. Most houses were decorated nicely by the owners with flowers, plants, and colourful painting. We also had delicious seafood at the pier. The deep-fried squid and beer were awesome. This island is easily accessible from Treporti, about 10 minutes. Ambiance/Facilities: 10/10 Rating: 5/5

€2 Gondola Ride in Venice

Instead of forking out a minimum of €80 for a 25-30 minute ride on a gondola in Venice, did you know you can have the full gondola experience across the Grand Canal in Venice for just 2.5% of the cost? This is all made possible if you go to ‘Gondola Traghetto’ which is only a short walk away from the famous Rialto Bridge. You don’t need to book in advance, just join a relatively small queue of people (even in the summer), pay €2 and hop on the gondola. There are a couple of drawbacks to this, one being you’ll be sharing the gondola with a number of strangers rather than renting a private gondola for your party. Secondly the gondola trip only lasts roughly 3 minutes as you simply cross the canal rather than travel along it. If neither of these things put you off then this is definitely a bargain and a must do on your trip to one of the most magical cities in Europe.

Bold, Bright and Brilliant: Burano

On this small Venetian island the locals have taken to painting there houses in bright neon colours. Burano is an island in the Venetian lagoon, like Venice it has canals running through it but Burano’s brightly painted houses really make it stand out. From Venice you can take the Public Transport ferry to Burano. The journey time is approximately 50 minutes and is a very pleasant ride in itself. If you’re visiting Venice in 2025 make sure you visit Burano! #burano #venice #italy

A Day In Venice! 🛶

A Day in Venice is a day to remember! The buzzing streets, Boat rides in Gandola & canals going through beautiful architectures make Venice a lustful destination for tourists! First thing about Venice I must say is it’s very crowded. Especially in the summer. The streets are buzzing with tourists and vendors. So I would suggest to get out as early in the morning as possible. Venice Grand Canal: The world's most exquisite 'street' is in the early morning, as we take a boat ride

The weather throughout this entire trip to Europe has been great, without a single day of rain, truly fortunate. The peace pigeons at the dock bask in the sun with me, waiting for the ferry together. The Grand Canal of Venice is the main waterway of Venice, naturally winding in an inverted S-shape from St. Mark's Basilica to Santa Chiara Church, and connected to many smaller canals. Most of the city's transportation is conducted through these waterways. In the 15th century, French writer and Venetian ambassador Commynes described the Grand Canal of Venice as the most exquisite street in the world, flanked by the most exquisite houses. Five centuries later, the Grand Canal can still rival the world's most beautiful boulevards. Taking a water bus from Piazzale Roma, weaving between ancient buildings on both sides, quietly appreciating the soul river of Venice, you can most closely experience the daily life of Venetians living on the water. The Grand Canal winds in an inverted S-shape from Piazzale Roma in the northwest to St. Mark's Square in the city center, about 4 kilometers long, 6 meters deep, and 40 to 100 meters wide, serving as Venice's main transportation artery. Over 100 ancient buildings along the banks were once the residences of Venetian nobles and wealthy merchants from the 12th to the 18th century. The first Sunday of September each year is Venice's traditional regatta, a race of gondolas and other traditional boats held on the Grand Canal. Before the race, there is a spectacular parade of boats decorated in 15th-century style.

📍 Itinerary Overview Venice is a popular destination to visit all year round but the summer months are hot and extremely crowded (actually crowded is probably an understatement) and normally best avoided at all costs. The rest of the year will still be busy but the crowds will be much more manageable and the temperatures will be a lot cooler. We visited Venice in September and the sunset was amazing.
