In Ulaanbaatar, there is a unique art form - Humming, which has become a treasure that shows the essence of Mongolian culture with its mysterious and shocking charm. Humming is an ancient music form that uses special vocal techniques and one person sings two or more parts at the same time. On the stage in Ulaanbaatar, Humming performances move every audience with their profound connotations, distant artistic conception and shocking power. In addition, Humming performances are often accompanied by Mongolian dances, costumes and other elements, making the whole performance more colorful, lively and interesting. While enjoying the music, the audience can also have a more comprehensive understanding of the cultural traditions and living customs of the Mongolian people.

The Mythical Shambhala 👁️

I have never heard about Shambhala until we arrived in Ulaanbaatar. It was quite a lengthy journey to this mythical place. The first thing we saw was this little building with sleepy eyes and a question mark. We have been told if you look into these eyes, the dot in the center will move, like during hypnosis. And you might see some things regarding your future. Unfortunately, we were exhausted, and none of us could stop and stare since we had our daughter with us. So, this building was an entrance to the world of Shambhala. It was surrounded with these white blocks. It was quite peaceful there. People were lying on the ground inside of a circle that was made from red rocks. We have been told that they were taking energy from mother earth. We decided to to the same and the first thing we saw was the Sun at its zenith with a halo. It was an unforgettable experience. We have spent some time there and kept moving to Khan Bayanzurkh Mountain... #mongolia #shambhala #spiritualjourney #familytrip

Ulaanbaatar - a hidden gem 💎

Last year we decided to visit Mongolia during the spring season (to be exact, in May 2023 for 10 days). It was a long journey but it was worth it. Ulaanbaatar met us as a modern city with rich culture, and people, and with a windy weather. We've booked a room in Best Western Premier Tuushin Hotel. The view was amazing. The staff was welcoming. We've seen the gargantuan Genghis Khan monument, The Gandantegchinlen Monastery, The Zaisan Monument and the panoramic view of Ulaanbaatar, The Aryapala Temple and so much more. If I'm going to describe every place of our journey there won't be enough space. Before our trip, Mongolia was a mysterious place. It was calling for us. And we didn't regret it any minute. #mongolia #ulaanbaatar #trip #genghiskhan

【Warmth and Wind in Ulaanbaatar】

【Warmth and Wind in Ulaanbaatar】

In Ulaanbaatar, a seemingly unfamiliar city, we learned the most authentic way to "hail a taxi" - just raise your hand. During an accidental wave, we met a passionate Mongolian friend, Erka. He not only became our guide, but also let us experience the authentic Mongolian customs. We enjoyed the food and the unique charm of Mongolian KTV. At that moment, language was no longer a barrier. The melody of "Night in Ulaanbaatar" sounded, as if we had traveled through time and space, and felt the purest emotional connection between people. 🌍 🛤️ Happy Road Strategy 🛣️ 1️⃣ Zaisan Memorial: Stand on the heights and take in the whole of Ulaanbaatar. 2️⃣ Genghis Khan Square: Feel the heaviness of history and the interweaving of modern life. 3️⃣ Genghis Khan Museum: Explore the glory and mystery of the Mongol Empire. 4️⃣ Mongolian State Department Store: Pick up some special little gifts! 5️⃣ Gandan Monastery: Listen to the Buddha's voice and cleanse your soul. 6️⃣ Bogd Khan Winter Palace: Walk into the corridor of history and taste the luxury of the royal family of the past. 📚 Language Tips The English proficiency rate here is not high, but smiles and simple gestures can solve most problems. Remember to bring your translation software, it will be your best travel companion! 🚗 Traffic Guide In Ulaanbaatar, taxis are not common, but you just need to wave your hand bravely, and there will be kind drivers to take you through the streets and alleys of this city. I hope this copy can capture your beautiful moments of travel and bring you inspiration! If you need to adjust or add more details, please let me know. 😊

A Journey Through Mongolia: Train and Steppes Beyond the Present

A Journey Through Mongolia: Train and Steppes Beyond the Present

Life is not just about the mundane present; there's also the distant Mongolian trains and steppes. In the vast grasslands of Karakorum, once the center of the world, we set up a simple table and sat on the ground, with a local Mongolian guide, a 19-year-old girl, preparing our lunch in the trunk of the car. Looking around, there was no end in sight. It was July, and the grass in Mongolia was particularly beautiful, swaying with the gentle breeze. This might have been one of the most memorable meals of my travels. On this land, where countless horses have trodden, the base camp of Genghis Khan stands now in ruins, with only the wind and the echoes of the past. Without having read this history, it's hard to imagine the stories that unfolded here. My friend and I traveled from Beijing by train, but due to a flood that washed out the railway, we had to disembark and take a bus arranged by the railway department to bypass the damaged section, then board the K3 train to Ulaanbaatar. We were four hours late, but our guide was already waiting at the station. Our four-day, three-night itinerary was arranged by a local guide. Beyond Ulaanbaatar, there are no roads or people, and even driving is not recommended here due to the risk of getting lost in the steppes. In some places, we even went horseback riding. We were two, a car similar to a van, a Mongolian driver, and an English-speaking guide. The guide was in charge of cooking, which was done in the trunk. We would eat at arranged locations, usually local families' yurts. Some memorable moments include staying in a local family's yurt one night, which involved a horseback ride of about an hour. The driver would take care of our luggage. Riding horses was exhilarating, running freely across the vast steppes was incredibly liberating. But for those who can't ride, it was a slow and bumpy ride being led by the guide's horse. Sunsets and starry skies. The sunsets here might have colors you've never seen, and seeing shooting stars every night has become commonplace. The nomadic people have always migrated with the environment, so there are few historical relics left. The palace has some stone foundations, walking on them, the mental images that come to mind are clearer. It's said that people in sparsely populated areas are more introverted, but in an area where there's only one family in a yurt, the children were incredibly friendly, and everyone was very hospitable. Although the living conditions are harsh, every experience is incredibly worthwhile. Train tickets and visas were handled by agents in China. The guide was found through a Google search for Golden Gobi, and we contacted them by email to arrange the trip. They operate a hostel in Ulaanbaatar, and my itinerary is placed in the last picture. They can also provide more information on longer trips.
