Introduction Cherry Blossom Viewing in Okinawa Prefecture

Introduction
Some information may have been translated by Google Translate

Okinawa is a popular place for cherry blossom viewing in early spring in Japan, and the best viewing time is from January to February. Unlike the subtle and graceful cherry blossoms in Honshu, Japan, the cherry blossoms in Okinawa are known for their early blooming and enthusiasm. The Hikanzakura (a variant of mountain cherry blossoms) is the main ornamental variety in the area, and the petals are mostly bright crimson, adding a touch of romance to the island.

Walking on the streets of Okinawa, you can see blooming cherry trees everywhere, with pink flowers dotted on the branches, which contrast with the blue sea and blue sky, forming a very impactful visual picture. The breeze blows, and the petals fall, or scatter into the streets, or float to the sea, giving this island city a poetic atmosphere.

During the cherry blossom season, Okinawa will also hold various special activities, such as cherry blossom theme markets, selling traditional handicrafts and special foods; there are also music performances on the streets, and the melodious melody complements the beauty of cherry blossoms. Visitors can feel the blend of gentle sea breeze and cherry blossom fragrance. The cherry blossom viewing trip in Okinawa not only allows you to appreciate the unique charm of early cherry blossoms, but also allows you to deeply experience the unique style of this island and leave behind an unforgettable spring memory.

Hot Springs in the Bustling City! Okinawa Naha Sansui Hotel.

Hot Springs in the Bustling City! Okinawa Naha Sansui Hotel.

Although Okinawa is not famous for hot springs, there are still some if you want to take a dip. The 'Ryukyu Onsen Senagajima Hotel' is well-located, not far from the airport, Naminoue Shrine, and Kokusai Dori. There's also a shuttle bus from the airport, making it perfect for a soak right after landing. Most of the rooms here are quite small, but I personally think that even booking a slightly larger room is not expensive and offers good value for money. This time I booked a room with a private bath, which might be a bit awkward facing the city view, but once you sit down, you can still see a bit of the sea. You have to go to the large public bath for the hot spring, which is colorless and odorless, but it seems to have a quite noticeable effect on relieving fatigue! The buffet breakfast here is a must! The restaurant is not big, but the variety of food and the care in presentation are truly astonishing. They even cultivate Okinawa's specialty sea grapes with water and oxygen, which is so fresh and impressive. There's also made-to-order Wagyu beef sushi, bitter melon juice, tempura, alcoholic beverages - it's so luxurious! The pork tofu soup is also highly recommended. One thing to note is that the hotel does not have a free parking lot, and the traffic nearby is a bit complicated, so it's best to go out in groups at night. Other than that, it's really suitable to start or end your Okinawa trip with a hot spring here!

Okinawa Estinate Hotel: Convenient location, three nights for HKD 580!

For this four-day, three-night trip to Okinawa, I stayed at the Naha Estinate Hotel, a three-star hotel located on the main island of Okinawa. The location is very convenient! The hotel offers free Wi-Fi, mirrors, air conditioning, and a flat-screen TV! The room space is acceptable since I was traveling alone. The bathroom is also very clean, and there are shops downstairs where you can buy souvenirs, such as clothes and more! Overall, I highly recommend this hotel. The price is reasonable, with three nights costing HKD 580!

Okinawa Souvenir: The Salt Specialty Store.

Okinawa has a must-visit place for many tourists: Here you can choose from famous sea salt souvenirs, and you must try their salt ice cream. Why? Because you can sprinkle various flavors of salt on the ice cream, such as green tea, citrus, hibiscus, and even chili flavor. It's super addictive! 8 Days and 7 Nights in Okinawa (6)

8 Days and 7 Nights in Okinawa (6)

We bought a flight + hotel package for this trip to Okinawa and stayed at OMO5 by Hoshino Resorts, which is just a few minutes' walk from Kokusai Dori. We rented a car for 5 days and spent a day shopping on Kokusai Dori and experiencing Japanese izakaya culture. Kokusai Dori is the busiest commercial street in Naha. After the Battle of Okinawa in 1944, the US military occupied the Ryukyu Islands and built the Ernie Pyle International Theater on this street. The area gradually prospered, and the street was named Kokusai Dori after the theater. Locals came here to do business, and it became a must-visit shopping street for tourists. In addition to local specialties, there are many drugstores and restaurants popular with Chinese tourists, such as Ichiran Ramen, Nanpu Ramen, yakiniku restaurants, steakhouses, yatai, and izakayas. Izakayas in Japan are places for office workers to chat and relax. They mainly drink alcohol, unlike us, who come just for the food. Here, office workers chat and laugh without restraint, unlike their disciplined and reserved selves during the day. It feels like a release. The small restaurant was as noisy as a Chinese restaurant, and we were the odd ones out, not drinking alcohol and just waiting for food. We finished each dish soon after it was served. It took us 2 hours to finish the meal, and we were exhausted. Our flight was at noon the next day. We took the train to the airport and had a popular Okinawan rice ball. We arrived early, so we didn't have to wait in line. We ate rice balls, drank coffee, and watched planes, ending our trip perfectly!

Okinawa|Freshly Sliced Tuna Sashimi, A Burst of Fresh Flavor!

The Tomari Fish Market in Okinawa is a haven for the freshest and most local seafood. As you step into the market, you're greeted by the aroma of the sea, with stalls displaying freshly caught fish, each piece exuding the sweetness of the ocean. It's a must-visit for food lovers. The market's biggest attraction, besides the wide variety of seafood, is the free cooking service! You can choose your freshly bought seafood and have it prepared by the stall owner or at a dedicated service counter. Whether you prefer it steamed, in soup, or pan-fried, you can enjoy freshly cooked seafood tailored to your taste. There's even a professional on-site to slice the fish, showcasing their skill and ensuring the freshness of the fish. I ended up choosing a box of assorted tuna sashimi. Each piece was vibrant in color, with evenly distributed fat, melting in your mouth with a burst of oceanic sweetness. Sitting in the outdoor seating area of the market, enjoying the sea breeze while savoring this simple yet rich delicacy, made me feel closer to the ocean. If you love tasting fresh seafood and enjoying the authentic atmosphere of a fishing port, the Tomari Fish Market is a stop you can't miss!

Explore Japan | Ultimate Guide to a One-Day Chartered Tour in Okinawa

✨ Public transportation in Okinawa is not very developed, and the attractions are quite scattered, so chartering a car is a very convenient option. You can arrange your itinerary freely and avoid the embarrassment of not finding a ride. 💪 Recommended Attractions Manzamo 🌊 Known as the 'grassland where ten thousand people can sit together,' this place offers stunning sea views with waves crashing against the shore, creating a spectacular scene. It's a great spot to take beautiful photos as a keepsake. Naminoue Shrine 🌊 Located on a cliff near Naha Port, the bridge opposite is a great photo spot where you can capture the full view of the shrine and the majestic scene of the sea and beach connecting. Additionally, the hand-washing ritual before worship and buying omamori (protective charms) are moments worth recording. Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium 🐬 You can see whale sharks and various rare marine creatures. The performances are fantastic, especially the dolphin show and sea turtle feeding. Don't miss them! Remember to have lunch at the café or the ocean-view restaurant, enjoying the beautiful underwater world while dining. Ishigaki Island 🌊 Featuring emerald green waters and beautiful nature. You can also try ringing the Bell of Happiness at dusk to capture romantic moments. Kouri Bridge 🌉 Connecting Okinawa Island and Kouri Island, the bridge is grand and magnificent, with crystal clear waters below. Standing on the bridge, you can overlook the entire Kouri Island's scenery. Additionally, the water and seaweed under the bridge are also worth photographing. Food Highlights: Okinawa Ramen 🍜: Made with wheat flour, the ramen has a chewier texture. Ishigaki Beef 🥩: Similar in quality to Kobe beef, incredibly delicious. Taco Rice 🌮: A fusion of Mexican flavors and Japanese style, super tasty! Sea Grapes 🌱: The texture is like 'green caviar,' and it also has beauty benefits!

The hotel environment is very comfortable and Instagrammable. Toiletries are provided.
