Tuyuk Village, Turpan - where East meets West
I went to the local bus station to see if there were any buses in the direction of this area, as the taxi wad quite expensive. I ended up getting a shared private car-type transport which was overseen by the bus station. To my surprise, it was only 30 RMB! The driver made a special detour to drop me off at Tuyuk Village and then gave me his number to call him when I was done - what great service! On the drive there, we had a fabulous scenic view of the Flaming Mountains, which are mentioned in Journey to the West. A mystical and breathtaking landscape! Finally, arriving in Tuyuk Village area, I was blown away by the earthen architecture and housing right under the canyons there. It was surreal.
