Introduction Camel Riding in Dunhuang

Introduction
Some information may have been translated by Google Translate

Riding a camel in Dunhuang is an immersive experience that connects history and nature. As the core area of the ancient Silk Road, the desert camel caravans here were once an important carrier of communication between Eastern and Western civilizations. Today, they still take tourists through time and space in the most traditional way to experience the vicissitudes and grandeur of the millennium trade route. The camels' steady steps step over the golden sand dunes, and the sound of camel bells echoes in the vast desert, outlining a flowing picture of the Western Regions. On the back of the camel, you can appreciate the changing light and shadow of the sand dunes and the melting gold of the sunset, and focus on feeling the leisure and heroism that is unique to Dunhuang.

Classic Camel Ride: Led by experienced guides, traverse sandy ridges along historic routes. As sunset gilds the dunes, with camel shadows stretching across the sands and bells chiming in the breeze, this journey perfectly recreates classic Silk Road scenes.

Desert Safari: Learn to handle and steer your camel under expert guidance. Traverse crescent-shaped dunes for thrilling "desert surfing," play with these gentle giants on sandy slopes, and create vibrant desert memories full of laughter and excitement.

Hexi Corridor Dunhuang|5 days and 4 nights to retrace the Silk Road

Hexi Corridor Dunhuang|5 days and 4 nights to retrace the Silk Road

|5 days and 4 nights to retrace the Silk Road. 🎈National Geographic once said: The Hexi Corridor is a transportation hub and a scenic corridor. Under the care of nature, this Silk Road has been endowed with a unique scenic corridor where snow mountains and deserts converge. In March and April, the Hexi Corridor is in the off-season, with cheaper tickets, air tickets, and hotels, and fewer tourists. More importantly, the Mogao Caves open 12 caves, which is super cost-effective. If you want to quietly appreciate the desert scenery of the cave art, it's the best time to come. 🚶5 days and 4 nights treasure itinerary DAY1⃣Arrive in Dunhuang DAY2⃣Dunhuang-Mogao Caves Scenic Area-Dunhuang Mud Painting-Mingsha Mountain Crescent Spring-Stay in Dunhuang DAY3⃣Dunhuang-Yumen Pass-Yadan Devil City-Stay in Dunhuang DAY4⃣Dunhuang-Jiayuguan City-Zhangye Rainbow Danxia Sunset-Stay in Zhangye DAY5⃣Zhangye/Lanzhou Return 💓tips: The northwest scenic spots are far apart, and transportation is not so convenient. If it is the first time for friends to come to the Hexi Corridor and they don't want to make a strategy for fear of trouble, they can find a reliable local group, which is worry-free and cost-effective, and the accommodation is also good~ ✅Must check in attractions 📍Zhangye Rainbow Danxia The Danxia landform here is beautiful all year round, but the Danxia under the sunset is more beautiful, like a palette overturned by God. 📍Mogao Caves It takes at least half a day to play here, quietly appreciate the beautiful caves and murals, and then create your own Mogao Caves mud painting. 📍Mingsha Mountain. Crescent Spring There are groups of camels here, you can race camels, run horses, and sand sliding is also a good choice. 📍Yadan Devil City Countless fossils of various shapes fall on the vast wilderness, adding a bit of mystery and agility 📍The 'First Strong Pass in the World' is worthy of its name. When you climb the pass tower, this feeling of being majestic is particularly strong. 🔥Travel advice ✔️Hydrating mask: The climate is dry, which is very important for girls ✔️Sunscreen: Sunscreen, sun protection, sunburn prevention ✔️Sunglasses: Prevent sand from blowing into your eyes ✔️Hat scarf: Windproof to avoid colds, headaches caused by wind

OMG! 3 Days in Dunhuang—A Breathtaking Itinerary (You're Welcome)

OMG! 3 Days in Dunhuang—A Breathtaking Itinerary (You're Welcome)

Hey ladies! I just got back from Dunhuang and I can't wait to share this amazing itinerary! Three days of exploring ancient civilizations and stunning desert landscapes gave me goosebumps the whole time 😭 (Check out the tips at the end to avoid tourist traps). 🚗Itinerary: Day 1: Mogao Caves + Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Moon Spring ⏰9:00 am–12:00 pm: Mogao Caves 🎫Tickets: CNY 238 (includes the Digital Display Center) ⚠Must-see: The giant Buddha statue in Cave 96! Look up at a 45-degree angle to see the 35-meter-tall Maitreya Buddha. The flying apsaras on the murals look like they're about to fly down—instant goosebumps! I recommend renting an audio guide (CNY 10) to hear the stories behind each cave. ⏰4:00 pm–8:00 pm: Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Moon Spring 🎫Tickets: CNY 110 (valid for 3 days) 🔥Must-do: Ride a camel at sunset! Choose the 5:00 pm slot (CNY 200/person). The silhouettes of the camel train are breathtaking. Make sure to walk to the viewing platform at Crescent Moon Spring for a stunning view of the sand and spring—it'll make you forget all your worries. 💡Hidden gem: Capture star trails on the sand dunes after dark! Bring a tripod and flashlight, and set your phone to Professional mode with a 30-second exposure. The Milky Way will be at your fingertips. Day 2: Yumen Pass + Yadan Devil City ⏰8:30 am–10:00 am: Yumen Pass 🎫Tickets: CNY 40 (includes the Han Great Wall) Standing in front of the ruins of Xiaofangpan City, you can almost hear Wang Changling's poem, "Spring wind does not pass Yumen Pass." I recommend wearing a red dress for some stunning photos with a sense of solitude. ⏰12:00 pm–4:00 pm: Yadan National Geological Park 🎫Tickets: CNY 120 (includes sightseeing bus) 🌋Must-sees: Sphinx and the West Sea Fleet! The last stop on the sightseeing bus is the sunset viewing platform. When the setting sun paints the Yadan landscape gold, remember to take a video. The sound of the wind and the sand is incredible. 🍜Food recommendation: Donkey meat with yellow noodles at the night market! CNY 50 per serving. The chewy yellow noodles paired with the special donkey meat broth is heavenly. Day 3: Dunhuang Grand Theatre—"A Thousand Hands and A Thousand Eyes" ⏰7:30 pm–9:00 pm: Show 🎫Tickets: CNY 298 (book one week in advance) 💃🏻Must-see: Holographic projections + live performance. When 3,000 virtual Buddha statues rise from the sky, you won't be able to hold back your tears. After the show, you can take photos with the actors backstage (make a reservation via WeChat). 📸Photo tips: ✅Use your phone's flash to capture details inside the Mogao Caves (be careful not to touch the murals). ✅Wear a white dress and a red shawl at Mingsha Mountain, and take action shots while running on the dunes. ✅Use a wide-angle lens and shoot upwards at Yadan to make your legs look super long. ✅Take photos of the theatre's exterior before the "A Thousand Hands and A Thousand Eyes" show begins—the light show is magical. ⚠Tips to avoid tourist traps: ❌Don't buy apricot juice at the scenic spots! The freshly brewed ones at the night market are only CNY 5 and much more authentic. ❌Don't wear expensive jewelry while riding a camel, as the sand can scratch it. ❌Book Mogao Caves tickets 15 days in advance on the official website, as they often sell out. ❌The temperature in the desert fluctuates greatly, so bring a light down jacket. Now is the perfect time to visit—fewer crowds and beautiful scenery! If you've read this far, book your tickets now. Dunhuang's beauty is worth traveling across China for 🚀

A Journey Through History: A Two-Way Encounter

A Journey Through History: A Two-Way Encounter

After the Northwest wind swept across China, I visited Dunhuang... When the Northwest wind finally reached every corner of the country, I couldn't resist this northwestern calling. Upon arrival, I was moved to tears by its beauty. However, this journey also had its pitfalls. If you're planning a trip to the Northwest, this detailed guide is a must-read to help you avoid common mistakes! 🔍Transportation Guide How to get there❓ 🛩By air: From Dunhuang Airport to downtown, the bus costs only CNY 10, while a taxi costs about CNY 30. 🚆By train: From the train station to downtown, public bus costs CNY 5, taxi around CNY 30. 🌟Recommended Itinerary Day1: Arrive in Dunhuang → Explore Mogao Caves → Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring Massive Concert Day2: Dunhuang Film Studio → Silk Road Heritage City → Western Thousand Buddha Caves → Yangguan Pass → Yumen Pass → Yadan National Geopark Day3: Western Jin Tombs → Suoyang City → Yulin Caves → "Boundless" and "Child of Earth" sculptures → Dunhuang Night Market ⛰Attraction Highlights - Mogao Caves: A perfect blend of ancient architecture, sculpture, and murals, the rich historical atmosphere is overwhelming. This is an absolute must-visit artistic sanctuary. - Mingsha Mountain: One ticket allows three entries! Spend CNY 100 for a camel ride through the sea of sand, where the vast sandy landscape is mesmerizing. Watch sunrise with companions in the morning, enjoy sunset in the evening, topped off with a lively massive concert - the atmosphere is absolutely perfect. - Silk Road Heritage City: Though not a natural attraction, it's perfect for photography and capturing stunning shots. - Yadan National Geopark: An excellent spot for sunset viewing! Strongly recommend taking an off-road vehicle deep into the Yadan formation for a unique experience. - Yulin Caves: As the sister site to the Mogao Caves, make sure to arrive before 3pm if you want to visit special caves. If you can't get Mogao Caves tickets, this is a great alternative. 📕Travel Tips 1. Dunhuang has strong sunlight, sun protection is crucial. 2. Highly recommend hiring a private car - it's not only convenient but also cost-effective. 3. Book Mogao Caves tickets in advance, as they're hard to get otherwise. 4. Accommodations are tight during peak season, book guesthouses and hotels early. 5. Tent accommodations may seem romantic but the experience is subpar - choose carefully. 6. Try to avoid dining at the night market. However, the fridge magnets there are good value and worth buying. 7. If attending the massive concert, be prepared to walk back as taxis might be hard to find after the show.

Dunhuang Super Project|Photovoltaic Power Station

|Photovoltaic Power Station. Starting from Cold Lake Town, passing through Black Mountain, Oil Town, Nine-Layer Demon Tower, on the way to Dunhuang, you can see a huge luminous body from afar. Never been to the Northwest, you can often see this huge power station in the video. I searched it specially before I came, and when I was really there, I felt its grandeur. It takes + minutes to get there from Dunhuang. It's best to shoot with a drone, if not, you can also go and see this great feat! Photovoltaic Power Plant

Beautiful Sand Dunes 🏜 in Dunhuang 🇨🇳

#timetotravel The sand dunes are magnificent! It makes you realize how small you are and how insignificant your size is compared to this massive sand dune. They are a total treat to my eyes. we really enjoyed climbing up and walking on the sand dunes. There people whoare doing different types of activites but we did try sledding for some extra cost. we didn't try the camel riding as this isn't our first time in a desert so we just enjoyed the scenery and totally appreciate the wonder of nature. For us , this was such a fun experience. For 2 days in Dunhuang we experience the different sounds of the sand dunes then we understood why it is call the singing/echoing sand dunes. Enjoy the experience!

Dunhuang West Line Tour: Dunhuang Silk Road Heritage City

Dunhuang West Line Tour: Dunhuang Silk Road Heritage City

When traveling to Dunhuang, you can choose between the east and west lines, one line per day. The first stop of many itineraries on the west line is the Dunhuang Silk Road Heritage City. Dunhuang Silk Road Heritage City belongs to the series of lifelong regrets if you don't go, and lifelong regrets if you go. It is not so much a Dunhuang Silk Road Heritage City as it is an abandoned film and television city. It has imitated some of the world-famous attractions, such as the Forbidden City in Beijing, the Golden Summit of Emei Mountain, the Greek Temple, the Fujian Tulou, the Nine-story Pagoda of Mogao Grottoes, etc. They are built according to a certain proportion, and the overall look is relatively rough, with a tour time of about 1 hour. These imitation attractions are also suitable for taking pictures. The places where many photos are taken are the Greek Temple, the Nine-story Pagoda of Mogao Grottoes, and other places. The surroundings are all deserts, the wind is very strong, pay attention to sun protection and wind protection when you go.

Dunhuang Mogao Caves

Dunhuang Mogao Caves

🌟Highlights: The Mogao Caves are located in Dunhuang, Gansu Province, at the western end of the Hexi Corridor. The caves were carved over a period of about 1,000 years, from the Sixteen Kingdoms period to the Yuan dynasty. There are currently 735 caves. ❤Recommended reasons: The Dunhuang Grottoes are a three-dimensional art form that combines architecture, sculpture, and murals. The caves are divided into two areas: the southern area has 492 caves and is used for Buddhist activities, while the northern area has 243 caves and is mainly used as a residence for monks and craftsmen. The northern area has facilities for living and practicing Buddhism, such as kangs, flues, niches, and lampstands, but most of the caves do not have painted sculptures or murals.

Mogao Caves: A Thousand Years in a Glance

Mogao Caves: A Thousand Years in a Glance

🌈Highlights: Mogao Caves is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is generally believed to have been built during the Former Qin period of the Sixteen Kingdoms, flourished during the Sui and Tang dynasties, and later experienced the rule of different ethnic regimes such as the Tubo, Guiyi Army, Uighur, and Western Xia. It preserves a diverse and splendid Buddhist culture through sculptures, murals, and other forms. As you pass through the desolate desert, under the shelter of birch trees, and carefully admire the dignified and graceful Buddha statues and vivid and exquisite transformation paintings, you may recall the movie "Nine-Colored Deer" you watched as a child, and the thousand-year history will come to life little by little. 🚗Transportation: It takes about 20 minutes by taxi from downtown Dunhuang. It is said that there are shuttle buses from the east gate of Shazhou Night Market to the Mogao Caves Digital Exhibition Center. From there, it takes about ten minutes by scenic area bus to reach Mogao Caves. 👍️Must-visit: A regular ticket usually includes visits to 8 caves, with a group of 20 people led by a guide. In addition to Caves 16–17 and Cave 96, which are must-sees, other caves are selected by the guide based on the flow of people and other factors. Among them, Cave 17 is the main discovery site of Dunhuang manuscripts and artifacts, and Cave 96 houses the tallest Maitreya Buddha in Mogao Caves. The Nine-Story Building outside is a landmark of Mogao Caves. 🚩Queue tips: Before visiting the caves, watch two short films. The first introduces the history of Dunhuang, and the second is a dome film showcasing the classic caves of Mogao Caves. Be prepared to move to the next location as the first film is about to end, and secure a good spot in advance. When visiting the caves, stay close to the guide, wear headphones, and avoid following the wrong group and missing the guide's explanations. 💗Other tips: Tickets for Mogao Caves need to be booked in advance, and visits are scheduled according to the reserved time slot. It is best to collect tickets and queue up a little earlier, and do not be late.
