Kashgar Xiangfei Garden: A Great Place for Summer Trekking!

Kashgar region was an important metropolis in the ancient Western Regions, and its mysterious culture attracted people from the Central Plains to visit. As early as the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, a large number of merchants went to Kashgar, and even Emperor Qianlong himself was fond of it, and fell in love with a local beauty, who is the well-known Xiangfei. Located to the east of Kashgar city is the Xiangfei Tomb, which, with the tomb as the center, forms the famous Xiangfei Garden of Kashgar, a rare historical site in the region. Shan Ye Jun shares with you the travel tips for this summer trekking! 1. Ticket information: The single scenic spot ticket for Xiangfei Garden is 45 yuan, but now some attractions are under renovation, so the ticket price has been adjusted to 30 yuan. The performance + scenic area combo ticket is 97 yuan. 2. Transportation information: There is a direct bus to the Xiangfei Garden scenic area. In Kashgar city, you can take bus routes 3 (line 1 or 2), 55, 6, and 20 to get there directly. 3. Accommodation: The facilities around Xiangfei Garden are very well-equipped, with many hotels and guesthouses nearby. During the off-season, room rates are around 150 yuan. There is a Xiangfei Garden food street at the entrance, with a variety of restaurants everywhere. 4. Highlights of the visit: The classic Muslim architecture is quite distinctive, the tree-lined walking paths are very suitable for strolling and meditating, the life scenes of Xiangfei and Emperor Qianlong are simulated, and the cemeteries of the Uyghur ethnic group display the living customs of the minority. 5. Precautions: Kashgar is very dry and hot in the midsummer. In addition to carrying sunscreen and skincare products, you should also prepare plenty of drinking water, make sure to rest in the shade, and walking in the shade is still very comfortable and pleasant.

Winter brings bitter cold and sandstorms. Non-professional teams should not venture deep into the desert alone🚫 🚗【Transportation and Route Planning】🚗 🔹Entering the Desert: 1. Classic Crossing Routes (require professional guides/vehicle escort🚧): • North-South: Hotan → Aksu (550 km desert highway) • East-West: Minfeng → Luntai (522 km Tarim Desert Highway) 2. Exploring the Desert's Edge: • Hotan Section: Cele Sand Sea (near the city, ideal for first-timers) • Bayingolin Section: Tarim Populus euphratica Forest Park (Luntai County) + Lop Nur Village (Yuli County) • Kashgar Section: N39 Desert Adventure Base in Makit (starting point of the Silk Road at 39°N latitude) 🔹Transportation Methods: • Self-drive: 4x4 off-road vehicle is essential (satellite phone📞, GPS locator📍, emergency supplies are a must). Joining a professional convoy is recommended🚙 • Chartered Car/Group Tour: Departing from Urumqi/Korla/Kashgar, choose a reputable travel agency (insurance💼, rescue services🚨included) • Short-distance Experiences: Desert edge scenic areas offer ATV rides🏍️, camel rides🐫 (approx. CNY 200-500/hour) 🏜️【Top 5 Must-Do Experiences】🏜️ 1. Conquer the Desert Highway🛣️ • Check-in Points: Tarim Desert Highway (world's longest shifting sand desert highway), 0 km marker, 108 well houses, Populus euphratica forest viewing platform • Note: Speed limit 60 km/h, take a break every 2 hours to prevent fatigue driving💤 2. Fatal Mistakes: • ❌Summer crossing = risky! Surface temperatures exceed 70℃, vehicles are prone to spontaneous combustion • ❌Entering the hinterland alone without support: Difficult self-rescue if the vehicle gets stuck, must travel in groups • ❌Trusting "easy routes": There is no absolutely safe place in the Taklamakan 2. Cost Traps: Be wary of cheap tours (may not include rescue insurance/guide qualifications may be questionable). Gas stations are scarce along the desert highway, so fill up beforehand 3. Environmental Protection: Do not take away cultural relics/Populus euphratica wood, take all trash with you, protect the desert environment🌍 🏨【Accommodation and Supply Suggestions】🏨 • Accommodation for In-depth Tours: • Tazhong Oilfield Base: The only accommodation in the desert hinterland (limited conditions, reservations required) • Makit N39 Camp: Container hotels + stargazing tents (meals included) • Accommodation on the Desert's Edge: • Luntai County/Minfeng County: 3-star hotels (CNY 200-400/night, prices may increase during peak season) • Lop Nur Village: Wooden cabin homestays (unique experience, but sound insulation may be poor) • Supply Stations: Service areas along the desert highway (instant noodles🍜, mineral water), Hotan night market (roasted pigeon, pomegranate juice🥤, yogurt dumplings) 📸【Photography Tips】📸 • Golden Hours: 1 hour after sunrise (clear sand dune textures), 30 minutes before sunset ("blood desert" effect) • Creative Shots: • Aerial view of the highway splitting the sand sea with a drone🛣️ • Silhouettes of dead Populus euphratica trees + starry sky time-lapse (avoid full moon) • Close-ups of footprints in the sand (best in the early morning when there's no wind) 💡【Final Reminders】💡 • Register desert crossing activities with the local police👮‍♂️ • Purchase travel insurance that covers "high-risk sports"💼 • Respect Uyghur customs (no alcohol, no sleeveless clothing)👗

Kashgar | A homestay with a view.

Kashgar | A homestay with a view.

Zebra Jianghu Fengshu is probably the best homestay in Kashgar Old Town. It has eight rooms, each with its own unique theme. The lighting and bedding are carefully selected, and the public area is thoughtfully decorated with the owner's collection of eight years. The rooftop pool is rare in the border area, and the surrounding ethnic fabrics can be used as a seat. Enjoy a Uyghur breakfast while gazing at the Kunlun Tower, and feel the endless romance.

Fragrant Concubine Garden, the Fragrant Concubine really existed! It's in Kashgar!

Fragrant Concubine Garden, the Fragrant Concubine really existed! It's in Kashgar!

Fragrant Concubine Garden, the Fragrant Concubine really existed! It's in Kashgar! When I was a child watching 'My Fair Princess', I really liked the Fragrant Concubine, not only a legendary beauty from the Western Regions, but also a real historical figure! Turns out, she was from Kashgar~ 'Fragrant Concubine Garden' is a cultural tourism area themed around the Fragrant Concubine, and the 'Fragrant Concubine Tomb' within it is an ancient Islamic tomb architecture with a history of 350 years. It's only a ten-minute drive from 'Kashgar Old City', a must-visit spot when you come to Kashgar. About the 'Fragrant Concubine Tomb': The tomb contains five generations of 72 people from the same family. The first generation was the famous Islamic missionary 'Yusuf Hoja'. After his death, his eldest son 'Apak Hoja' inherited his father's missionary work, became a famous master of the 'Yizhan Sect' of Islam in Kashgar at the end of the Ming Dynasty and the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, and even seized the power of the Yarkand Dynasty for a time. After his death, he was also buried here. Because his fame surpassed his father's, people later called this tomb 'Apak Hoja Tomb'. Among the Hoja descendants buried here, there was a woman named 'Iparhan (Uighur, meaning 'Fragrant Girl')', who was Emperor Qianlong's beloved concubine Rongfei. It is said that she always had a strong fragrance of jujube flowers on her body, so she was called the Fragrant Concubine. The Fragrant Concubine was the fifth generation of Apak Hoja's great-niece, and her family status was not high. Because of the hype about the Fragrant Concubine, this family tomb was gradually called the Fragrant Concubine's old garden, becoming a popular tourist spot. There is a saying: After the Fragrant Concubine died of depression, Emperor Qianlong sent a large funeral procession to carry the Fragrant Concubine's coffin back to her hometown. Another saying: According to the Qing history, the Fragrant Concubine lived in the palace for 28 years, died of illness at the age of 54, and was buried in the Yufei Garden Tomb in Hebei, Qingdongling. It is said that the Fragrant Concubine's elder brother took three and a half years to bring back the relics from Beijing and buried them in the northeast corner of the mausoleum, so the Fragrant Concubine's tomb contains the Fragrant Concubine's robes. There are two types of tickets: A30/person, which is just the original park ticket, mainly for the 'Fragrant Concubine Tomb' and a 'Jam Mosque'; B120/person, in addition to the above park tickets, also includes two performances - 'Uyghur Wedding' & 'Fragrant Concubine Welcoming Guests', the appreciation of the performances is subjective~ A concubine who once deeply loved by the emperor, can have a special robe tomb garden in her hometown, this kind of treatment is really hard to find a second person! Maybe she once enjoyed the emperor's love and favor, maybe she once had a touching love story with Emperor Qianlong, or maybe she was not happy and joyful, but at least we see her great contribution to the national unity and the unification of the country, just for this, she deserves to be praised and praised!
