The Dufour by Hotel Schweizerhof Zürich

Zurich|0.16km from Beauty & Wellness Oasis GmbH
Location: Excellent. It takes about 10 minutes to get to Zurich Main Station by train from Zurich Airport. This hotel is just across the road from the main train station, one or two hundred meters away. Room environment: Not very new, but completely acceptable. The decoration is relatively exquisite. The suite I booked has free minibar and snacks (except alcoholic beverages/wines) Service: Contact the agent with Ctrip in advance to communicate about early check-in. The answer is that if there is a room available, you can check in in advance. We arrived at the hotel at 10:30 am and the room was ready for smooth check-in; both the front desk and the door bellman gave us a very friendly feeling. ;After checking out, two bottles of mineral water were given as a gift. Room hygiene: There are two bathrooms in the suite. Toiletries such as toothpaste and toothbrush are provided. Samples of Swiss Dabao skin care products are also provided. There are welcome fruits and turndown service. Good night chocolates are also provided. Breakfast: The dining environment is not big, but the decoration is very nice. The service is also very nice. In addition to the buffet area, you can also order meals, both paid and free. Guests in the suites have champagne breakfast. Those who order for a fee are also free. You can also order a glass of champagne per person. Overall: In Zurich, where land is at a premium, I feel that the price/performance ratio is very high. The only drawback is that there is no view outside the window of my room. It is very close to the building opposite. The advantage of this is that it is relatively quiet. I will consider staying here next time I go to Zurich.

Park Hyatt Zurich

It seems clear to me that the quality of customer service in travel has greatly deteriorated in the last three years. I understand that service providers have trouble finding and retaining people and the ones they have often don’t seem to take pride in their work. Sadly, I’ve come to accept this as the “new normal.” Which is why our recent three-night stay at the Park Hyatt in Zurich was such a welcome surprise. Not only was our room clean and comfortable but the service we received, from start to finish, was efficient and personal. Just a few examples: We had a flight delay and airport transfer difficulty arriving to Zurich and did not get to the hotel until after 1:00. The gentleman working the front desk who checked us in, got us waters, helped with our bags and personally escorted us to our rooms. He was also working the next night when we returned to the hotel after dinner. He spotted us coming through the lobby and literally ran over from the front desk, greeted us by name and asked if our room was acceptable and if there was anything he could do for us. The housekeeping staff are a bunch of ninjas. You never saw their carts in the hall but we’d leave in the morning and when we returned in the afternoon the room was made up. Perfectly. We’d leave for dinner and when we returned the room was turned down. Perfectly. We had drinks the first night at the Onyx Bar. When we returned the next night, the bartender remembered both our names and our drinks. We interacted on several occasions with the daytime concierge. I wish I remembered his name. It wasn’t just that he was knowledgeable about Zurich and responded immediately to our requests. He acted like speaking to us was the absolute highlight of his day. I know these are all little things but they added up to a wonderful stay. Plus, the hotel couldn’t be more conveniently located. Staying at the Park was a luxury item for us but, let’s face it, traveling anywhere in Switzerland is a luxury item. I would return to the Park for their level of personal service in a minute.

Hotel Schweizerhof Zürich

Zurich|0.16km from Beauty & Wellness Oasis GmbH
Elegant, older, well maintained, albeit a bit dated, the hotel is located directly across the street from the Zurich main train station and trolleys. If, as we did, you want to be within easy walking distance of the train station this is a great location. If you want to be in a very quiet location on or close to the lake, this is not where you want to stay. There is a small grocery store in the underground passageway to the train station. The hotel common areas are well-maintained, and it has a small bakery and bar that serves a very good dinner. There is a separate restaurant space on the second floor that only serves breakfast, and the food and the staff are excellent and it’s fairly priced. However, the hotel does not have a conventional restaurant. The lobby and rooms are small by american standards, but very quiet and well-appointed, have a good bed and the bathroom has a bath/shower combo with very good water pressure (and air conditioning). The small electric refrigerator in the room was set up as a mini-bar, but it was ok to remove the bottles. It does not get very cold. We were upgraded to a small suite with a sitting room, so I don’t know what a standard room would be like. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. There did not appear to be a concierge. The hotel allowed us to check-out 2 hours later, which we appreciated. All in all, a very good hotel for the price. However, if you’re looking for a very high-end american-style hotel, this may not be for you, but you should expect to pay two to three times more for those hotels

Hotel Seidenhof

This is a hard review to write. 2 nights here. The hotel itself is fine. Tastefully refurbished, with a dose of quirkiness. We had two linked rooms, with a small sitting room and balcony (with a total non-view). Check in was polite and efficient. Breakfast was excellent, with high quality buffet and eggs cooked to order in front of you. Kept running out of fruit juice, however. Replenishment could be better. We were in the mid European heatwave, reaching 37C in the afternoons. When we first entered the rooms, the ”aircon” was on at full and incredibly noisy blast, yet the rooms felt very warm. I assumed they've just turned it on prior to our arrival. After a very hot evening out, I was relishing a cool bedroom to sleep in (having left the ”aircon” on whilst out). Arriving back, I was dismayed to find my room was 28C. I went down to reception, but the night staff were completely uninterested and unsympathetic. He said ”we don't have air conditioning, we have air movement”. I said it was utterly useless, and he said that the Swiss government had banned air conditioning. There was nothing he could do. I returned to my room and sweated the night away with no sleep whatsoever. I felt truly terrible in the morning. The morning staff were far more understanding and offered to put fans in the room, which did help but only slightly. This place is not remotely cheap (even for Zurich, where everything is at least 50% more than you would pay anywhere else), and especially the rooms we had. Tripadvisor shows aircon as an amenity for the hotel, and for this price I would simply take it for granted. To say aircon is ”banned” is patent rubbish, as we went into dozens of shops, bars, restaurants that were crisply cool. I checked the hotel's main competitors and all have full aircon. I did some research, and it seems the government are indeed making it difficult to put aircon into new builds and refurbs. Seidenhof needs to get lobbying, as these weather events are going to become much more frequent and nobody is going to pay its prices to stay in a hotel with no aircon. This ruined our stay in Zurich. If the Swiss government are serious about the environment, they should tax out of existence the nose-to-tail supercars that clutter Zurich's roads instead of targeting the one thing that makes living with climate change tolerable. Whilst they're at it, they should also ban plastic drinking straws (as in the UK), which do such terrible damage to marine wildlife.

Friendly and clean. Good for a night's stay before leaving the airport and heading to another city. Breakfast I really liked. There are no fancy dishes, but the food is simple and fresh, so even my mom said it was good. There is a noise problem between the rooms, but I don't know if I pass out and fall asleep. I recommend it because the location is so good.

The hotel is very well located. It was convenient to go to the central station and main attractions. The room faced a quiet street. The breakfast was also excellent. However, it was not safe to give credit card information to the reception staff as a guarantee.

We stayed in both the main hotel and in the guesthouse across the alley and were quite satisfied if both facilities knowing they been renovated within the last year. The main hotel is right around the corner from Zürich HB the rooms feature a nice private bath (new, big & clean) and nice modern styling. The guesthouse as new and stylish as hotels go, but the modular bath/shower unit with its semi-transparent blue glass leaves a lot to be desired when everyone in the room knows what your doing on toilet (very little privacy). We luckily are prepared and carry large binder clips and clipped a bath towel across the glass during our stay. The staff are amazing and extremely cordial. Free coffee/tea is offered 24/7 in the main hotel and on each floor. Guest house residents must go back across the alley to the main lobby. Day tour buses are right across the street for easy access. We would stay again definitely.

Very tidy and in very good order for such a pleasantly priced hotel. We didn't find a scratch on the wallpaper, not a speck of dirt on the floor. The breakfast is not a buffet, but it is tasty, personally served and more than sufficient. It is, as the name says, close to the station, but you all benefit from that, not a disadvantage, because the neighborhood is completely okay. You are in a few walking minutes in the restaurants and cafes area of Zurich. Great to visit the city if you want to keep it affordable.
