Hotels in Xijindu Ancient Street/Jinshan, Zhenjiang

This is our first time to Zhenjiang. This hotel is within 10 minutes taxi ride from Zhenjiang railway station. On 27 Dec 2023, we arrived late at night and all the shops nearby the hotel have already closed. So, no dinner. The reception staff, Fang Rong and 张师傅, took good care of us by offering snacks and carried our luggage into the room. The hotel’s location and environment are fantastic! It is located at Xijindu ancient street where you can stroll along the ancient street. The museum and old British consulate are within walking distance from the hotel, through the ancient street, past a 观音 cave. Another tourist spot, Jinshan 金山 is also within 20 minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel’s breakfast is delicious and good value for money. The hotel’s room is very clean, very comfortable and very nice. The hotel’s staff Steven is friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the area. Upon check out, we got a small trinket as souvenir. I had a pleasant stay and will definitely choose this hotel again. Thank you all for the outstanding service and warm hospitality during our stay.

All good except the room service, which I was forced to use, as I had to work late from my room. Ordering was not at all simple (having not spotted the QR code notice on the fridge work top. But response was swift, so too was delivery of the order. However, the ”Ceasar Salad” was sorrowful! Lettuce leaves awash in some sort of watery white fluid, with no discernable taste, some croutons and a few pieces of dried bacon. Especially disappointing given how lovely the fruit and vegetables are most of the time in China. Main course ”Lemon and Herb Chicken” should have been listed as ”Lemon and Herb Skin and Bones”!!! There was virtually NO actual chicken meat. Roated tomatoes and asparagus were lovely, Dessert was uninspiring, but compared to the salad and main course for sure the best course. The Wine? Completely undrinkable. Opened, poured a small amount to taste, spoilt. It happens, sadly! Would be a good idea to open the wine to test before serving

Facilities: Except that the TV cannot be projected, everything else is very good. Environment: The internet-famous Gyeonggi Road is right outside, and the ancient town is a few hundred meters away. It is very close to scenic spots such as Jinshan Temple and Zhenjiang Museum, which is very convenient. Service: The housekeeper Xiaoqi is very dedicated. After the phone communication, he added WeChat and gave me the guide in advance, which facilitated me to plan and modify the itinerary. Later, because the TV in the room could not be projected, the hotel also solved it in a very friendly and positive manner. I will book again next time.

There were a few blood stains on the curtains, and the slippers were torn. What was even more disturbing was that the shower head had to be held by hand when taking a shower. If it was hung on the wall, it would deflect to the corner of the wall as soon as the water was turned on (video). A very bad stay experience. The price is 427 yuan, which is not worth it! I really don’t recommend staying in a hotel like this in the city of Zhenjiang!

The guest house has a large area of ​​green grass and a lake in front of the residence. The environment is quiet, beautiful and classy. It's the closest to Jinshan Temple. It's also convenient to call a taxi when traveling. The set meal booked at the hotel at noon is very cost-effective. The service attitude of the staff is good. I'll stay here next time I go to Zhenjiang.

Zhenjiang is my father's hometown. I once passed by on a business trip in the late 1990s. I remember that time I only visited Jinshan Temple. So this time I came to Zhenjiang after retirement. I read the Zhenjiang travel guide on Xiaohongshu, which recommended staying in hotels in the Xijindu area. So I searched on Ctrip and found that there were many hotels with good locations in Xijindu, and it was almost difficult to choose. After comprehensive consideration, I chose Shuxiang Xinbo Hotel. Among the hotels with a rating of 4.5 or above, I prefer the design style of the hotel, which is a combination of traditional and new designs. I was just worried that there would be no parking spaces for self-driving tours (the reviews said that there were few parking spaces at the door), so I contacted the hotel in advance to confirm the parking spaces. They said that there were still parking spaces at the door, and the hotel had another parking lot nearby, so there was no need to worry. Fortunately, we were able to park at the door for the two nights we stayed. Probably because of the off-season, I booked a double bed room, and the hotel upgraded it to a suite for free, with an elevator (the hotel was renovated from an old house in the Republic of China, and the building is about 4 or 5 floors high). The suite has a living room + cloakroom + standard king-size bed room. The space is relatively large and clean. The 2-meter-wide bed has good bedding, soft and comfortable, very nice. In addition to the standard toiletries, the bathroom is also equipped with a bathtub film. This is the only one we have seen in the multiple hotels we have stayed in since we drove all the way from Guangzhou. For this reason, this is also the only time we dare to take a bath in the bathtub in the hotel to relieve fatigue. The plastic slippers in the room need to be called to the front desk (this is the experience gained from this self-driving tour). The little robot will send the slippers up and will notify by phone. It is silent when walking and does not disturb people. It is very cute. Looking at the comments, there are criticisms about the electric control switch in the room. Sure enough, the design of the electric control switch is too alternative and niche, and the operation is not intuitive. You can only grope for the buttons. It feels that it is not suitable for hotel use, especially for the elderly. However, the switch is a small flaw and has little impact. Overall, the hotel experience is still very good and cost-effective.

The room was very large, beyond my expectation, and the bathroom was separated into dry and wet areas, which was more convenient for family outings. The holiday breakfast was also very rich, with Zhenjiang specialty pot-covered noodles and braised pork. I would like to especially praise the front desk receptionist when I checked out the next day. They were warm and thoughtful and answered all my questions. Seeing that we had to drive a long distance on our return trip, they also gave us two bottles of water. I will choose this hotel again if I have the chance to come to Zhenjiang next time.

The accommodation deposit will not be paid until 5 o'clock the next day, which is a bit slow It may be the reason for the semi-self-service. The overall look of the famous hotel is not bad. The decoration of the boss is also very special, but the details still need to be humanized. The price of the famous hotel is a bit inconsistent 😄

I have picked a homestay for a long time and I am very satisfied! The location is just three minutes walk in the north gate of Xijindu, and I will pass by several coffee shops and tea houses. The small yard of the small mountain building suite is very popular with children. There is a small yard. If the weather is cool, it is still very suitable to play cards in the yard. There is a big bed and two single beds in the room, which can accommodate four people. Although the building has been in place for a hundred years, the renovation is not bad, the sound insulation is very good, there are electric mosquito coils in the room, so there is no mosquito bite; more pleasantly surprised is that the bath water is quite good, better than expected. The homestay is also clear at night. It is worth mentioning that I like the fragrance very much, and it is not noisy. In addition, it is a minute's walk from Yong'an Fish Village and Feiquan Morning Tea, which is very convenient! The proprietress was also very enthusiastic. The children's watch was forgotten at the homestay, and immediately contacted me to express it. I like it very much, I have already recommended it to my colleagues 😃😃😃

Facilities: The inn is in the Xijindu Scenic Area, which is quiet in the middle of noisy. There are several famous restaurants in Zhenjiang around. It is very convenient if you go to queue for dinner. The facilities in the inn are relatively old, about seven or eight years ago, it is still the same facilities. The sound insulation effect is very poor, and the sound of talking next door can be heard. The air conditioner is a cabinet machine in each room, and some wind blows a little dry at night. Hygienic: A little uncomfortable is that the bed is a bit gray, and the cockroach can pat it by itself. There was a little water when the toilet sink first came in. Service: On-call attitude is still very friendly.
