This is a good 3 star option, nearly a 4 star hotel, and has many positives. For us however we won’t return. Firstly it is expensive at 340 Euro p nt for an annex room off season (the annex is not in the central building). The hotel is family run which is nice, but the husband/owner can be rather abrupt with guests, which is a little off putting, although it made our stay amusing. On the pros it has a great central location, it is modern and well kept, very clean and the new spa/gym is a major plus.

Where to begin? Let's see... I have literally over 50 years experience visiting Zermatt; first trip when I was about 8 years old with my father...and now I am 65. In 1997, my wife and I chose to honeymoon in Zermatt and then returned each year for about 15 years...we took a few years 'off' then - partly because we moved and were busy getting acclimated to a new home, etc. But this year we returned - and in fact returned to the Matterhornblick Hotel, where we have stayed about 12 times or more. But why here? The hotel is owned and operated by the Julen family...a true family business...which means that they care about EVERY detail because - well, they work for themselves for one thing...and more important, they take great pride in their hotel, facilities, service, cleanliness...food...friendliness...you name it. Not to mention that they are lovely people that we now consider our good friends. The breakfast is perfect - everything you could need or want is right there every morning - fresh and varied. They do not have a full restaurant - thankfully - we prefer to dine out at night. And at breakfast (unlike so many other hotels) things are relaxed...come down in your slippers...no 'formal' vibes here...if you want linen table cloths and waiters in starched shirts...stay at one of the 5 stars...but we prefer to be in a relaxed atmosphere... The rooms are spotless and SUPER comfy. We always stay on the 4th floor with views directly to the Matterhorn from our balcony. The new spa is gorgeous - modern and again, spotless. Completely remodeled after last year's floods, it is everything one could ask for...for fitness and for apres ski relaxation. The new ski room is the same, offering lockers for all guests...and boot heaters! The location is perfect - right in the center of Zermatt but off a side street so it is not as loud and raucous as the main drag...thankfully. And a two minute walk gets you on the bus to the base of all of the ski lifts...super convenient. But without doubt, the finest thing about this place - and the reason we return every year - is the family. Kerstin, Beni, Tim and Vera (and Milo!) are to be complimented on their hard work, welcoming vibes and just plain friendliness - they take care of us - and will take care of you...truly a family business is the best way to go. They care. We will be back next year - but I'd better get my reservations in before you do! Vielen danke...bis spater!

Sophia at the front desk welcomed us with loads of smiles from the very first minute. Our stay was equally easy, quiet and comfortable not mentioning the great view of Matterhorn (Make sure you get a room facing this iconic mountain). A no-problem attitude from the staff members is so crucial in order to have a good experience, and Hotel Matterhornblick delivered in style. The lady serving us at breakfast really made our day with her positive energy! We strongly recommend this hotel.

The property was at a convenient location not too far from the station. rooms were good and the spa facilities were quite good. Most of the staff was polite and helpful except for the owner, who ended up ruining the entire experience for me from the moment I checked-in. The aged man was definitely not meant to be at the reception interacting with guests. He was rude and arrogant and did not know the H of hospitality. We were supposed to check-in at 3 and we reached a bit early around 2 so we wanted to drop the bags off.. we were quite tired from the journey so I politely asked if I could get myself I coffee since there was a free coffee machine for guests.. the man rudely responded that the coffee was only for checked-in guests.. and later asked me to go ahead in a rude way as if he was doing me a favour. He also made a very irritated face when I took out the coffee mug. I was surprised by the arrogance of the owner. We had paid the entire amount for the room and paying 5 francs more for a coffee would definitely not have been a big deal for us. The owners really need to keep their attitude in check and know how to treat their guests with respect.

Centrally located , well equipped kitchen, small room, the bathroom was one of the cleanest I have seen but no soap to wash your hands. The staff / owners were not really friendly or welcoming. The spa is just old and outdated. After paying 350 + per night , I would highly recommend another hotel., for this price one can definitely find way better options. We just booked last minute and didn't have too many options left with it being school vacation.

I’ll start with the good things about this place. The location is good the rooms are clean. The family who runs this place are nice and the breakfast I good basic options. We’ve stayed here couple of times but the last time was disappointing. The shower water was not working so well. The room we booked and paid extra for was supposed to be facing south with Matterhorn view but no Matterhorn view and didn’t change room upon request and didn’t offer us discount upon check out. Also, the bathroom’s door doesn’t close properly, weird smell in the bathroom.

We stayed in the Chalet Ritz part of the hotel, and our room there was clean, cozy and comfortable. It was on the attic level, so there were a lot of stairs up - be aware there is no elevator in this building. The room had a slightly lower ceiling height because of the eaves, but it wasn't a problem for us (might be a problem for tall people!) and we had a skylight with a clear view of Matterhorn so it didn't feel cramped or dark. The room was simply furnished, but had good storage and everything we needed. The bathroom was small, bright and modern. Price was reasonable for location and the busy time of year. Hotel is in a great location in the middle of Zermatt with easy access to restaurants, transport, etc. Max 10 min walk to the train station. Chalet Ritz is set back from the road, so it's very quiet and calm at night. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok, fairly standard for Switzerland: breads, croissants, cheese, cold cuts, jams, birchermuesli, yogurt and fruits. You could also make hard-boiled eggs. There is also a lounge area with a small bar and a fireplace. You can leave your bags at the hotel after check-out, but there is no dedicated luggage room, you just leave your things in the lobby. I know it's Switzerland, but I'd prefer a more secure area. Overall, we enjoyed our weekend at Chalet Ritz/Matterhornblick and would be happy to visit again next time we come to Zermatt!

Discovering this medium size family hotel in Zermatt has been an excellent and positive surprise. We spend two days in this hotel and can only say positive things. It is situated in a very centric location, very near the main street, Bahnhofstrasse. The room and bathroom were both spacious and very comfortable. The balcony had excellent views over the town and the Matterhorn Mountain. First class wood furniture. The only missing element was the minibar. Good breakfast buffet with an excellent assortment of different kinds of breads. Very friendly service by all staff. The price-quality relationship is excellent. Very recommendable.
