Lovely traditional homestay experience. Peaceful setting, slept really well. Friendly hostess, good food, lots of swimming/snorkeling items to borrow/rent. Good location, very near bus stop to get to and from Zamami port during the day (buses don't operate in the evening) close enough to walk to swimming beach and very close walk to pretty small beach off the beaten track. Outside shower and toilet facilities but plenty of hot water and has WiFi access.

Amazing stay, felt like I was at home. The host is very friendly and lovely, great to experience slower paste of life in a traditional Japanese house. Can rent snorkelling equipment and swim around the lovely quiet beaches. Met some lovely other travellers and have dinner together. Recommend!

This place is the best! I came here for two extended stays, one during Covid (remote work) and one vacation this year. If you want to travel but also to rest/relax, you can’t do better than a cozy Japanese house in a quiet hamlet on beautiful Zamami island. Takako-san will take care of you—she is a talented chef and such a kind person. The rooms are cute and clean. Over dinner you can enjoy meeting other travelers. The walk into town is lovely, with a gorgeous view out over the archipelago. You can rent snorkel equipment, beach tents, sun umbrellas, etc. Don’t hesitate, book this place!!!

We spend 4 nights at homestay kucha. So far the highlight of our Japan trip. It felt very authentic staying at homestay kucha in a amazing room, in a very low key laid back a**osphere with local delicious breakfast and dinners served. The village is very quiet (especially when it gets dark) but you are close to amazing beaches where we saw very few (if any) people. Can only recommend this place!

I was here with two of my friends from 1st to 5th January 2023 for our winter vacation. Living in Zamami is literally like being in heaven on Earth. The island is very beautiful and small, you can easily walk through all observatories in one day, the beaches are clean and the water is blue and transparent... I strongly recommend you staying at Homestay Kucha, because it will boost your island experience and make it more authentic. The place is decorated in traditional Japanese style, you'll have tatami on the floor, futons, sliding doors and Japanese style paintings and figures as decorations - all this truly puts you into special, even mystical atmosphere. At the same time, you will have everything needed for comfort and convenient living: clean towels, hot water, hair dryer, coffee machine, washing machine... and a friendly cat called Ku. Also, if you stay at Kucha, you must ask Takako-san to make you breakfast and dinner. Not only it's delicious, but also it's a work of art. You'll have small portions of different dishes at once, all of different taste but making it perfect together. Takako-san is sweet, welcoming and helpful, it was always a please to communicate with her. If you need to get to the port, it's 30 minutes by foot from the Kucha. If you want to swim, there's a beach right in front. All in all, if you want to feel refreshment of mind and body, forget about your troubles and enjoy sea activities, I can't think of a better place.

Zamami was such a treat! While it was typhoon season we were lucky to have great weather throughout our whole stay. It’s a great island to snorkel, swim and relax. The Homestay reminded me of my grandmother’s place in an Indonesian village so it really felt like coming home to me. The homecooked meals are amazing and in general it’s just an amazing peaceful place. If you appreciate the easy village life, I would highly recommend! Please note tho, that the location is a bit remote so there are no supermarkets/restaurants nearby. The closest ones are in Zamami Port which is about 30 minutes walking (or 5 minutes by bus).

I really loved this place. It is in the middle of the island, next to a beach. The house is traditional but and it has a lot of cute details. You can find absolutely everything you need here, including a very nice and beautiful cat who is waiting for your love. The mum cooks incredible food. I totally recommend this place

This is the perfect place for remote work! Takako-san cooks delicious Okinawan food using ingredients from Zamami, including greens that she collects from the mountain and fish from the bay just outside. She's a genius chef - she made a unique and delicious meal each morning and night for the 3 weeks I was here. The rooms are cozy and have everything you need - snorkeling equipment, beach sandals, towels, shampoo, and a friendly cat. The guesthouse is located in a hamlet over a hill from the main town, which means you have accessibility to more remote and quiet beaches of the island. Takako-san can tell you the best places for snorkeling, stargazing, diving, and more. Highly recommend.

Fantastic stay that was cut short due to a typhoon. Will definitely be coming back another time. Takako-san made us feel at home right from the start and the location of the house made it really convenient for us to move around. Definitely recommend for anybody looking for a laidback island experience!
