Hotel Varres

Strategic location for visiting Zakynthos. They are a 1.5km outside of Zante town. From the hotel you can visit the whole island due to its location in Zakynthos, which is central. The structure is immersed in an olive grove and transmits a lot of tranquility. The room is more than sufficient in size and is cleaned well every day. The air conditioner works well. , but positioned next to the bed, it is not pleasant at night. At the reception, especially Mr Dennis, they are very helpful, they also have a towel service which you can ask for every day and return when you return from the beaches in the evening. The swimming pool is beautiful , large, functional, we found a few too many wasps. You need a vehicle if you book here (but a vehicle is still needed to visit the island)

My daughter and I stayed at the hotel in early July 2023 with a social tourism voucher. I had 5 nights. I only stayed 1 night and left. The hotel has 2 buildings. The renovated one next to the pool which I have no opinion on and the main complex the oldest. They had informed me from the beginning that they would put me in the old, ground floor with a view of the garden. I had also seen a photo of the room on the internet and I liked it. But when you get to the room, at first glance you say it's okay. But staying from noon when we checked in until the morning of the next day when we left, I noticed the following: the room was dirty. All over the walls mosquitoes killed. The bathroom or sink and shower battery full of salts. The TV only played the state channels. Hair dryer broken and ready to explode. The air conditioning would shut off if you opened the door and window. As a result, at night with everything closed, the air from the air conditioner does not renew. We slept with the door open and the air came in, but only mosquitoes came in because of that and the many killed on the walls by the previous ones! The beds are ok. Soundproofing from the people next door when they were taking a bath, zero!! Our balcony which was at the same level as the garden was nice. But the gutter of the air conditioner of the 1st floor room in front of us was falling and collecting sphinxes!! You couldn't even sit there! Of course I complained and called the shift manager in the room so he could have a picture but nothing was fixed. I asked for a room upgrade paying the difference but there was none available. In fact, they told me that I knew from the beginning that I have a ground floor, back room!! I told them of course I knew, but it doesn't excuse the dirty room and bathroom, the tv that didn't work as it should, the killed mosquitoes, the hair dryer that they had no idea was about to explode!! I'm sorry that they have such rooms for rent either with a voucher or normally!! For the rest of the places, I don't know why my stay is interrupted.

Wonderful hotel. Not en masse. Nice in the green. Large rooms. Shower door instead of curtain 🥳 Simple but good breakfast. For each his own. Refreshing swimming pool. Nice pool bar. The 1st week of October seems to be a closing week for the staff. Part of the hotel is no longer used. When it comes to food, there is less and less choice on the menu. But that should not spoil the fun. Staff remains friendly and helpful.

Disappointing! Noisy rooms with tiled floors, so if the neighbors move a chair, you hear it very well. Box spring with innerspring mattress was very hard. You feel the springs very well. No top deck. We had to ask for that and put a lot of effort into it. The shower was really ridiculously small: 0.60x0.80 (see photos) with shower curtain, the space around the sink was also far too small, almost no space to put your things. Air conditioning works very well, but makes noise and blows cold air on the bed, because it is not in the normal place as in other hotels, but on the outside wall. Refrigerator works well. Breakfast was not tasty and very simple, far too few tables to have breakfast outside. Lots of mosquitoes around the pool and at the pool bar, also wasps and hornets. Sun loungers without cushions. Dinner: FANTASTIC. You get the daily special which was delicious. Different every day: chicken fillet/fish/salad/fries/rice/pita bread/ice cream.
