Ionion Blue Hotel Zante

Lovely hotel but my original room I was given was a corner one, massive, 1 double , 3 singles but a dull room and smallest balcony. I asked to be moved and was given a top floor . The room was better but the shower had a sliding door missing. The rest of the hotel is excellent in every way. The young lady behind the bar and in the breakfast was so pleasant and helpful. Plenty of food choice, big pool bar and 5 mins to the beach and main bars. Rooms were cleaned every day and staff were polite and cheerful. Ive had a few solo holidays and been given inferior rooms so if your going on your own try and stipulate what type of room you require and read other reviews

We arrived 2pm very helpful reception paid our tax and went straight to the room the room was basic but clean lots of hanging space lovely balcony. The bathroom was nice walk in shower big head shower which if you use you flood the bathroom so we used the hand held shower. Nice big tv bbc news 24/7 but other then that no English channels the hotel is situated just 5 mins to main ***** and about 10 mins to beach so positioning was perfect. The breakfast was very good hot and cold selections. Pool area was clean and always beds available at any part of day. If your coming to Kalamaki you can’t go wrong loved our 2 weeks while we were away we had a bit of rain and this made the mozzys come out and we received a few bites. Also the flys did get annoying whilst out having meals would definitely come back to the hotel.

Though a bit dated, we had a very pleasant stay. Room cleaned daily but a bit more attention to detail regarding changing cups etc. would have elevated this service further. Rooms were spacious with decent air conditioning. Pool area was nice and there was an excellent pool bar. Kelvin in the pool bar was exceptionally helpful, friendly and kind. His lovely nature elevated our stay. Reception staff were helpful when we wanted to hire a car and arrange taxi’s. This hotel is not super modern but was good value for the money we paid. It’s in a good location- walking distance to Main Street in kalamaki and several bars and restaurants

The hotel was ok however, not as described online and is not as it appeared on photos. The bar staff were helpful and the cleaners friendly and did a good job, unfortunately the same cannot be said for the receptionist. The play area has one trampoline which was broken and unsafe for children, an out of order sign later appeared. Online it states that there is a play area for children but this is not the case. Our room was ok, we had to pay €10 a night for aircon, but we had a panel missing from the shower meaning each time we showered the whole floor got soaked. The room was not sound proof which it is described as being online. We had a family room yet it appears very different to other peoples family room. Our other family members who paid the same had a more modern room, with better fridge setup and a bigger shower. The breakfast was ok but not as nice as other similar priced and rated hotels. Not a lot of fruit to chose from. The drinks were awful, they tasted salty, including coffee, tea and fruit juices. The bar food was average but that isn’t negative as it is what I would expect from a pool bar, there was a good selection of drinks to choose from. The pool was small and the children’s one wasn’t very clean which was a shame as we had young children on holiday. The water around the floating seating area was filthy and doesn’t appear to have been cleaned for weeks. It is not the worst hotel I have stayed in but be cautious when booking as it is not as it appears on online descriptions and photos. It seems dated and run down in many areas.

Okay hotel and comfy bed in a nice location but please, please supply a proper fridge. The one in the room is not fit for purpose in hot weather. (Think minibar). Just wanted ice for my lukewarm (refigerated!) water so asked for it at the bar and was refused!! Also, tea, coffee and drinks supplied at breakfast tasted salty. Orange 'juice' dreadful and cheapest of the cheap yoghurt. A few tweaks could make this a great hotel. We'd visited before 4 years ago and decided to give it another go but wouldn't want to return again. The highlight of the hotel is Kelvin in the pool bar. Nicest guy ever.

We had a fab room , overlooking the pool and with a separate sleeping area for our little granddaughter. Room snd its facilities were great. Pool area lovely , plenty of sunbeds. Breakfast good, loads of choice. The one thing that absolutely baffled me was the price of the air con €70 for 1 week…. Never ever paid anything like this level before. However, given it’s 40 degrees you need it …. 5 min walk to town, same to the beach
