We chose Parador de Zafra because we were traveling through Spain and it was in the right location to rest that night. But that wasn't the only criterion: it was a historic building, very beautiful, with good conditions and good reviews. We were not disappointed! Even though it is in a castle environment, it has all the comfort conditions, the service was very friendly. Parking was paid.

Fantastic service at reception and throughout this lovely Parador. Some very interesting rooms fitted into the castle turret and a beautiful building with the possibility of walking the battlements. Beds were as comfortable as any I’ve had anywhere.

We got there at 2 AM. My wife always takes a shower before going to bed. She tried, but she couldn't, there was no Hot Water. On the morning, around 9:30, I went to the bathroom. Opened the hot water tap, and waited, and waited. Went to the phone, called reception. Told there was no Hot water. The answer I got was, the water flows till it gets Hot. I told I already did that for the last 15 Minutes. Did it again... Nothing was different. So called reception again, they said they were going to call maintenance. So I gave up, and took a Cold water shower. I've wasted hundreds of liters of water, during this time, which is funny, regarding the notice that was planted on the lavatory tap that said " The water you've wasted today, is the water you'll need tomorrow". Next we went to have our breakfast. You have to keep in mind, we're staying at a 4 Star Parador. There are high expectations... That's all you'll have expectations. The breakfast is so lousy. You have so little choices. I think this is the worst breakfast I've ever had in an hotel. Poor bread choices, the cakes looked so industrial, the orange juice, my wife doesn't know if it had orange cause it was artificial. So this was our first and last time in Zafra Parador. In the end they offered us the breakfast, due to our complaint about the Cold Water.

The Parador in Zafra is an old castle. There is a sense of tranquility once you enter the hotel, with a beautiful inner courtyard. We booked a suite as a treat it was fabulous with a huge private terrace. The staff are friendly and professional. Zafra is a town with quite a few nice buildings to see and squares to sit down and people watch.

Good hotel , beautiful place. Would stay again , Parking worked very well. Dinner and breakfast good although service a little slow at dinner , (shortage of staff on holiday maybe)

What a lovely little town and a great hotel. Having for many years used Paradores,we are not sure how we managed to miss this one. We picked it purely on its location, as it suited our journey pattern. Then,having looked at what was there to see/do in the town decided to do 2 nights. Well worth it! The Medicine Museum and the Santa Clara Convent are good and the town itself is very sociable. If you have never been to Merida ( which does have its own Parador) you can easily visit the amazing Roman , Visigoth and Arab sites there by traveling from Zafra (about 40 minutes)
