Both dinner and breakfast are the best authentic Kaiseki cuisine in the room. The rice is delicious. There are drinks (beer, water) in the refrigerator in the spacious room, and cold sake, ice cream, and drinks are available in the lounge near the large communal bath and the open-air bath. Our room was in the main building, facing a quiet garden of camellias and a pond with carp. The carp that came to the window to eat food were cute. The fresh flowers, hanging scrolls, and folding screens displayed in the corridors and tokonoma are also stately. The accessories such as camellia-themed tableware, small bowls, coffee cups, tea bowls, and embroidered towels are also tasteful. However, there is no shuttle service from the station for travelers coming by train. There is a guide for the city bus, but it is quite a steep hill to climb from the Oku-Yugawara bus stop to the entrance of the inn, so I think that guests with a lot of luggage should be advised to take a taxi from the station instead of the city bus. A taxi from JR Yugawara Station costs 2,000 yen.

We loved the Ryokan experience, staffs were excellent with services, foods were delicious! My husband and I were satisfied with the experience even though it’s pricey, totally worth it!
