Walter Raleigh Hotel

Myself and my Pal Terrie had an exceptional 3 night stay in this beautiful Hotel on the 1st May in the wonderful town of Youghal. This historic building is decorated to a very high standard with lots of lovely seating areas, a great Bar with fantastic food and well appointed Bedrooms - ours faced the Sea and we loved it. We felt so welcomed and valued by the exceptional Staff who were friendly and interested in us and looked after us so well. In fact The Staff are an amazing team - full of enthusiasm and very happy in their work - we loved all the chats and laughter. I want to say a Big Thank You to you all for the exceptional care you took of us for those few days. From Olive who checked us in, to Michael and Jason, the fantastic Managers, our first impression was perfect, then we met Ross and his Manager Brian in the Bar - great fun here with the lads and the fantastic Chefs who produced such tasty cooked food of a very high standard, then lovely Dolores and beautiful Aoife at Breakfast who told us all about her favourite Beach 'Whiting Bay' which we visited and loved - you all made our Trip to historic Youghal one of the best we've had on our Staycation breaks in Ireland. Best wishes from the two of us and hope to see you all again soon. if you are looking for the real Ireland come to beautiful Youghal and stay in this exceptional Hotel - you will love it as much as we did.

My wife and I stayed, with friends for one night in Mid May. Staff were very friendly and extremely accommodating. Food and the complimentary afternoon tea were excellent. We would strongly recommend and will stay again if in the area. We found the local area very interesting.

Absolutely fabulous hotel. Room with a sea view stunning. Cleanliness, staff and food exceeded all my expectations. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food is 5 star 🌟 Absolutely mouth watering. Would highly recommend it. Breakfast served till 10.30am which I loved as could relax in the morning. Lovely balcony off restaurant looking out onto the sea.

If it were not for the management of this hotel I would have givena 5 star review. However, our experience with management was 1 star treatment. I originally booked one night bed, breakfast and evening meal for €210 for 11th May 2024. I subsequently contacted the hotel to arrange the same deal for 12th May 2024. Had I known the hassle this would cause us I would not have bothered. Arrived to find convenient parking and check-in was very pleasant and efficient. Our room 216 was absolutely outstanding. I had booked a standard sea-view room but this was anything but standard. It was in fact the nicest room I have ever stayed in, beautifully appointed and decorated with an excellent ensuite. Even the toiletries were lovely, I brought the soap home with me and am still enjoying it! I had requested a quiet room and it was at the end of a corridor, very spacious with a comfortable seating area to watch TV or admire the view. The view was slightly spoilt by dirt or sea-spray on the window which was a pity as everything else was immaculate. After the long journey we went to see about having a drink, preferably outdoors in the beautiful sunshine before going to explore Youghal. We were greeted by the bar manager “B” who asked our room number and enquired whether we would be dining there that evening. I replied that we were actually dining there both nights. He stated that this was not the case, it was either that night or the following night, not both nights. I was told emphatically and categorically that I was wrong. This made me feel very uncomfortable, like most people, I don’t like being told I am wrong, especially when I know I am not. Eventually I showed the bar manager the email confirming the meals on both nights, I don’t think he read it but immediately walked out to find the person that sent the email. He returned with that manager “J” who stated that the issue was not the bar managers fault as he hadn’t explained the details of my booking to him! My initial thought was why would he? He stated that the fault was with the system that can’t handle the details of my booking and only recognises 2 nights with 1 dinner. He swiftly turned on his heel and left, he may have said “sorry about that” on his way out, I honestly can’t remember. I found this encounter with the general manager quite abrupt and unsatisfactory. Thankfully there were no customers that I could see in the bar/restaurant area while all of this transpired, but a number of staff were present and it was quite frankly uncomfortable and embarrassing, especially as we were going to be dining there for 2 nights. In the bar manager “B’s” defence, he gave an immediate full and genuine apology which was appreciated and I hope he learnt that it is best to check something out in the future before telling a customer they are wrong. We approached the bar for our evening meal feeling very awkward but the bar manager again apologised, he couldn’t have done anything more. We enjoyed a very nice

The dining room is very nicely decorated and comfortable. Whilst a couple of items on rhe menu were unavailable, the food was excellent and portions substantial. The best bit was the warm and welcoming service provided by Ross. He was truly delightful.

Loved It! Myself and my two girlfriends went for a night away. Was pleasantly surprised by how fresh and clean this hotel is. We were offered complimentary tea and scones on arrival. Our rooms were really pretty with amazing view of the sea. We dined that night in the Restaurant and the food was second to non! Brian, our server had us in stitches and couldn’t be more helpful. Breakfast was just as good! Fantastic experience. We will be back!

Excellent hotel with friendly staff. We had a party for my mother's 80th. Food was great and the staff were very helpful and easy going. The manager was available and facilitated all of our needs. Clean, comfortable rooms and overall a very enjoyable stay.

Very pleased with our stay over the weekend as were the whole club. Excellent food in the bar and the restaurant and excellent and friendly service. The rooms were spotless clean. Veiw the dining room for breakfast and dinner was breathtaking.

On firday last we held our Caring &sharing (casa) in the Walter Raleigh Hotel in YOUGHAL. AND can I start by saying a huge thank you to the fabulous Management and staff of the walter Raleigh for always making us feel so special and for going above and beyond each year for YOUGHAL CASA MOST OF THE THANKS MUST GO TO JASON AND HIS STAFF , THEY WERE NOTHING BUT TURly amazing,nothing was to much boder for any of them And each of them made sure we had everything to enjoy our fantastic nite I DEFINITELY wouldn't go appassed the walter Raleigh for an event . As you CAN BE ASSURED OF THE BEST OF SERVICE. THANKS I WOULD GIVE THE RALEIGH HOTEL TOP MARK Thanks once again to Michael and jason and the wonderful staff .
