"We had a lovely stay at Diamonds Inn. We booked the Standard Suite, Ensuite 3-bed room which is located at the top floor of the building. A very quaint compact en-suite family room great for a group of friends or family. All basic amenities are there including towels, shampoo and shower gels. There’s also an electric water kettle, coffee/tea, hair dryer and a small fridge! Beds are soft and comfy. Walls are thin and may hear voices of other guests in the halls during the day but was not a major issue during our stay, mostly quiet after 10pm. Location is very convenient as its only a stones throw away from one of the famous wall entrances, a pub and restaurant across and York Minster. Host was lovely and friendly as well, called to ask if we can get an early check-in and was happy to accommodate us."
"Nice staff. We asked for early check-in so the staff tried to find the rooms for us. Fortunately, there was the available rooms so we could have early check-in to keep our luggage before going out."
"Beautiful atmospheric hotel with beautiful entrance, spacious bedroom modern classic bathroom, only the food is expensive and nothing special also breakfast was meager. But for the rest is ok"
"The hotel is right in front of the cathedral, the location is very central, and Diagon Alley is also within walking distance, which is not convenient for parking. 7.8 minutes after walking the street one night behind the parking lot is okay, parking during the day is very expensive.
Welcome to us is a very old-fashioned British gentleman, introduced the room for 10 minutes, and encountered the butler-style service for the first time."
"Great experience. The front desk staff was very kind and thoughtful and also upgraded the room for us for free. The facilities in the room are very complete and comfortable, the breakfast quality is high, and the hotel needs 15-20 minutes to get off the city."
"It's really great! I knew before booking that the hotel was run by a Chinese owner, but after arriving, I was able to communicate with my mother tongue about the journey. This feeling is really wonderful. The owner is still an alumnus! We arrived earlier than the check-in time and wanted to put down our luggage first, but the room was already cleaned, so we were arranged to check in early! Then the owner was very patient to draw a map and recommend tourist spots and restaurants. After checking in, I found that although this hotel is not a traditional luxury hotel, I can feel the intention of the operator. For example, the noise reduction and sound insulation of the entire hotel are very good, just like the iron frame stairs at the back door, which is very considerately covered with plastic mats to greatly reduce the noise of the iron stairs. There is basically no creaking sound of the traditional British house floor when walking in the room, so there is no need to worry about affecting the guests downstairs. I especially recommend everyone to book breakfast! See the photos for details! It's really very rich! In addition, it is also very convenient to travel! There is a small path from the train station parking lot that can pass through the hotel. It takes 5-6 minutes to walk quickly without luggage. It takes about 8-10 minutes to drag large luggage. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel that takes you directly to the cathedral. I hope I can return to York and stay here again if I have the chance."
"Everything is perfectly cute. My friend and I love the design of the room, and we wish to try other rooms as well! We had a relaxed and happy trip with this hotel~"

Outstanding
AAnonymous UserVery lovely hotel. We love the building and the room and the outside view from our room. Love the coffee machine in our room. Everything feels luxurious. This is the only hotel that provides bedroom slippers throughout our UK trip.
Room with big bathroom is nice. There is a famous restaurant inside the hotel. Lucky to get a table without reservations.
Paid parking at the hotel is a bit steep. Other than that, all good.
BBaozoudashantuOne of the best hotels I've stayed in in the UK. The small town of York gives people a slow and intimate feeling. The hotel is not far from the train station and the city center. The concierge service is very good. The room is very warm and equipped with a record player and radio. It is full of retro style just like the city of York.

Very Good
AAnonymous UserThis hotel is close to the train station (just a few minutes' walk) and not far from York’s main attractions like York Minster, The Shambles, and the Jorvik Viking Centre. Guests appreciate the friendly staff, who are welcoming and helpful.
One of the highlights of staying here is the complimentary breakfast, which includes a good selection of hot and cold items. A special touch is the make-your-own waffle station, which many guests enjoy. The rooms are clean, modern, and comfortable, with all the amenities needed for a pleasant stay.
GGuest UserI had a pleasant stay at this hotel during my visit to York.
The room was clean and stylish, offering a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. One of the biggest advantages was the hotel’s convenient location. York is a compact city, and from the hotel, it was easy to walk to the city centre. This made it incredibly convenient to return to the hotel for a short rest before heading out again.
The complimentary coffee and croissants provided were not only delicious but also very convenient, especially for a quick breakfast or snack. Additionally, the staff at the front desk were exceptionally friendly and responsive, promptly addressing any questions or requests I had.
That said, there were a couple of minor inconveniences. The laundry facilities seemed poorly maintained, which might be an issue for longer stays, though it wasn’t a significant problem for my two-night visit. Another issue was that all the power in the room was controlled by the keycard, and alternative cards couldn’t be used. This meant that every time I left the room, all power, including charging devices or heating, was turned off. It was a bit inconvenient, especially during colder weather.
Overall, despite these minor drawbacks, I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel for its excellent location, clean rooms, and helpful staff.
IISARIWe had a comfortable stay with a spacious room and great amenities. However, there was a party in the lobby during our stay that made the area quite crowded and noisy. Despite that, we still had a good experience overall and would recommend it for families.
GGuest UserAbsolutely beautiful hotel in a great location, 5 minute walk from the city. Inside the hotel is amazing and quite grand. We choose a garden view room which was a bit small but the view was amazing, all the way to the minster. Breakfast can get a bit busy as the area is small but it was nice.
The spa was lovely but again small and can get busy.
Overall a beautiful hotel in an ideal location.
GGuest UserIt was nice. Their staff is really helping and cool . Very welcoming. Breakfast could have been better with more vegetarian (excluding eggs) and vegan options!
GGuest UserJust a little bit far away from city center, it took us around 10 minutes to get there by bus. They offer a wide variety of food and beverages for breakfast, and surprisingly, most of them taste great.
GGuest UserHotel is situated right opposite Clifton tower and is conveniently located within. The city centre - walking distance to the Shambles and other attractions. The parking situation is problematic - although aware it is first come first served, there is nowhere available to park up and ask except the three spaces in front of the hotel and if taken, you end up circling the road for an absolutely age before a space becomes available. If no parking on site end up parking over the road on public car park which is inconvenient as keep having to work out when to renew. The cleanliness is a slight issue, we thought there was dust on surfaces but more likely to be cloth fibres from the cleaners but still don't expect shedding like this. Room was fine but did think bathroom was on the smaller side for a double deluxe room. Service in general was good - couldn't really fault.
PPing ShingHotel Reception has very good service. We are arrived at the hotel early but the reception also arranged hotel rooms for us, so felt that the hotel service was very good.
For other thins is the hotel room is a bit older but the room is clean. Overall has good service and hotel. Thank you
