The host is lovely, but the room's private toilet is outside of the room down the corridor. The shower and sink is inside your room, the floor boards are very noisy and you can hear anyone who walks in the entire building. The room faces the main street which can be noisy. There are quite a few stairs and levels to navigate. The shower flow is very weak.

Very nice guest house! Friendly and helpful guy managing it, high quality and clean rooms, quick check in and check out, excellent stuff. Mind that the walls are a bit thin - no problem for me personally, but if you absolutely cannot stand any form of noise from neighbours you might be disappointed.

It's not close to the city center, but there's a bus stop at the door, which is quite convenient. The boss is nice and the public areas are kept very clean.
The sanitation is OK, cleaner than most B&Bs, but there are spider webs behind the TV. The windows are not soundproof, which did not affect our sleep, but if you are afraid of noise, it is best not to get a room facing the street.
The most unsatisfactory thing was that I found that the room was a semi-ensuite. The toilet was not in the room, only the shower was in the room, but there was no message when booking.

Professional service with booking and communication. Immaculately clean. Room service daily. Tea and coffee supplies refreshed. Big bright room with windows that open, perfect for a warm June evening. Car park available. Excellent location to York city centre.

We Stay here every year and we love it. Would highly recommend to people . It is a 10 mins walk to the city centre we will return again next year. Always clean and tidy and I like we can check in early at 12 noon. Car park around the back is very handy too

Our stay at Friars rest guest house was great value for money with great facilities in a great location, it’s only a short walk to the centre and on the way is a weatherspoons for breakfast. The room was lovely and clean with tea and coffee available as well as shower gel and hand soap, each day the room is freshened up for you. And the owners were also really lovely and friendly. We will most definitely be returning for another lovely weekend 😊
