2 River Road Inn Cottages

The website shows charming little bungalows that they call cottages. I was enchanted by the photos. Unfortunately, I did not carefully read everything. After a road trip coming up from Philly, we enjoyed a number of really good B&Bs but arrived very tired and just wanted some peace & quiet. The cottage (#3) that we were given was right on River Road and near US1. This was not shown on Google maps and was not quiet. The website did have precise blueprints of the cottages, so check if this meets your needs as the room number will appear on the reservation confirmation. #3 besides the location, also did not have enough space for opening a normal suitcase (we had 2). I missed this detail. I asked to change the room but there was none available, so I had no choice but to cancel and was refunded most of my payment less a penalty fee. The Innkeeper was helpful in suggesting alternative lodging (that cost three times more). This almost ruined an otherwise great NE trip.

We stayed here as part of a large group of families. Our group mostly stayed in the cottages with a couple of us staying in the inn. Everyone seemed happy with the accommodations. We stayed in cottage 17, which is very cute and had a king bed and a twin. Everything was clean and cozy. Nora was sweet and helpful during check in. Provided breakfast is simple, but did the job. Muffins, yogurts, oatmeal etc. The gazebo was awesome. We ordered pizza and everyone gathered in the gazebo to eat and socialize. Towards the end of the evening we turned on the provided Roku TV (inside the gazebo!) and put a movie on for the kids. This would also be fun for watching sports with a group. Pool is ok for kids, but it is an unheated above ground pool that’s maybe 3 feet deep all across. We didn’t get much use out of it because it was so cold, the kids didn’t last long. Easy drive to nearby beaches. Overall, a nice, cute and cozy place to stay!

Positives: very clean, happy family camp place; nice owners; family pavilion and pool, nice, fluffy towels. Not so great: my cabin smelled very moldy. I’m sensitive to strong smells. The sheets and towels are absolutely saturated in heavily perfumed dryer sheets. Please opt for scent-free fabric softening.

Went up to Maine for a long weekend and decided to stay at 2 River Road Inn and Cottages. Stayed in cottage number 8, which was small, but ok for 2 people, and it's not like we spent much time inside anyways. Like I said, the cottage itself was kinda small, and it didn't really have any tables or other surfaces besides the stand that the small TV was on. There was a minifridge and coffee maker in the room, but no microwave. They offered a free continental breakfast which basically consisted of only bread fruit and pastries, although the muffin I had was pretty good. Other than that though, the place was really nice. Like I said before, we didn't really spend too much time indoors there. Each cabin has it's own deck with some chairs, they have a small but nice pool, a big gazebo that even has a tv in it, and a short little walking trail through some woods in the back. We ended up spending one of our days just relaxing on the property, switching off from hanging out at the pool, on the deck, or just walking around the grounds. The place is only about a 5-10 minute drive from downtown York, so even though it didn't always feel like it, it wasn't to far from the beach, or the general downtown shops. I don't know if and when I'll be in the area again, but I would stay at 2 River Road Inn and Cottages again.

What a great find! This is a truly beautiful place. There are cottages and there is a main house with 3 rooms. We stayed on the second floor room 3. The stairs are narrow/steep, so be careful! The room is so comfortable, with seating area, bathroom, and large bed. Refrigerator, coffee maker, and AC. Lots of windows, also. We felt so comfortable and welcomed. There is a precious dog that will greet you. Breakfast is in the "office" area, but a large variety of yogurts, juices, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, muffins, bread to toast and more. You grab what you want and eat in your cottage or room or the pretty gazebo just steps away from the office. So relaxing! There is even a pool. We didn't have time to use the pool but it all looks very nice. So happy we found this place after doing our research. I believe there are some dog friendly cottages as well. The grounds are so pretty. Innkeepers are very friendly and just want you to have a pleasant stay! Will definitely return next summer when we go back to Maine for our yearly visit!

Spent one night in a cottage. Very clean and comfortable. Owners friendly and helpful with suggestions for eating. Continental breakfast good with lots of options. Baked muffins, English muffins, sweet treats, hard boiled eggs, yogurt and fruit. Nice path to walk your dog. River the greeter was cute too!

We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite in the main building. It was great!! Beds were decent, rooms were comfortable size. Refrigerator, kuerig with coffee/tea and real creamers, granola bars. We really enjoyed our stay!
