I was so lucky to book this B&B by South Lake; it's really popular, I saw it was fully booked on the day I checked in. There's no coffee at breakfast, but the self-service coffee machine in the lobby pretty much solved that. The welcome gift included shaobing (sesame flatbread), tremella soup, and black sesame crisps. The housekeeper auntie provided excellent service! She was always responsive, making it feel just like home. There's also a two-month-old Bichon named 'Kaixin' (Happy) at the property, and she's super well-behaved.

The hotel's location is excellent, less than a 10-minute walk to the main attractions. The hotel itself has a serene atmosphere, with a beautiful Jiangnan garden-style setting. You could easily spend a comfortable and peaceful day just relaxing in the courtyard with a cup of tea, without even needing to visit the sights. The cleanliness standards are on par with a five-star hotel, and they thoughtfully provide two types of slippers. The service is very attentive; they offer shuttle service to and from the parking lot, and are both welcoming and discreet. The front desk lady was especially kind, giving detailed directions.

Before coming to Hongcun, I didn't have high expectations, thinking it would just be another old village to visit and leave. However, my stay at 'Hongcun Yike Homestay' made me feel that every detail of this trip radiated warmth. Upon arriving at Hongcun bus station, I was unfamiliar with the area and was stressing about how to drag my luggage across the stone-paved paths to the homestay while looking at a map. The moment I called, the owner's enthusiastic voice immediately put me at ease: 'Wait there, I'll be right over to pick you up!' In less than ten minutes, the owner appeared on an electric scooter, swiftly tied my luggage to the vehicle, and cheerfully motioned for me to hop on. We weaved through Hongcun's winding alleys and past bustling crowds of tourists. The homestay was tucked away in a quiet lane near Moon Pond, an excellent location. You could see Moon Pond just around the corner, yet it was peaceful and quiet – truly an oasis of calm amidst the hustle and bustle. Stepping into the courtyard, I was captivated by this homestay, a renovated Huizhou-style building. The exquisitely carved porch, wooden corridors, and rustic private courtyard exuded the unique elegance and serenity characteristic of Huizhou homes. Inside the room, it was bright and clean. The antique-style wooden bed paired with a soft mattress offered both classic charm and comfort. The night was exceptionally quiet, and I slept soundly. Early the next morning, I opened the window to a beautiful view of the Huizhou-style horse-head walls in the morning light, distant mountains draped in lush greenery, and the nearby sounds of birdsong and fragrant flowers. It truly felt like living inside a traditional Chinese ink wash painting. On the day of my departure, the owner drove me to the bus station as usual, reminding me of other places I hadn't visited in Hongcun along the way. Before saying goodbye, the owner pulled out a packet of chrysanthemum tea from the trunk, handed it to me, and smiled, saying, 'This is our local chrysanthemum tea, take it home and try it.' Holding that packet of tea, my heart felt warm. Staying here truly felt like returning to an old friend's home in Huizhou, thoughtful and considerate in every way. 'Yike Homestay' truly lives up to its name – making one feel 'at ease' (逸) and so content that guests (客) forget to leave. Next time I'm in Hongcun, I'll definitely stay here again.

For my 2-day, 1-night trip to Hongcun, I chose Xiyunpan Yue, which is perfectly situated in the core of Hongcun, right on the bank of Moon Pond. This hotel is right next to Moon Pond, so you can step out and enjoy its beauty at any time. I found myself coming out every hour because the scenery changed continuously with the different times of day and weather. During my two days in Hongcun, I was lucky enough to have fantastic weather – clear blue skies, white clouds, and stunning reflections on the lake. Everything was so beautiful, and every photo I took looked like it belonged in a magazine. So, a tip for everyone: be sure to check the weather forecast before you go. Hongcun's scenery is gorgeous, and the hotel was excellent; everything was just perfect. The hotel staff even arranged pick-up and drop-off at the West Gate, so you can book with confidence!

I booked the Hongcun Wanxinglou·Nanhupan Garden Homestay online. It's conveniently located right by the South Lake, near Hongcun's South Gate, making it easy to visit all the core attractions. The room was spacious and tidy, with a separate wet and dry bathroom that had no strange odors. They provided disposable toilet seat covers and decent quality toilet paper, as well as a full set of disposable amenities. The entire homestay has a charming rustic, antique vibe, and the room was very quiet. I was quite satisfied! Due to bad weather forecast for Huangshan the next two days, I canceled my subsequent plans and immediately extended my stay here for another night offline to enjoy a deeper exploration of Hongcun, hehe! The food here is also quite good, and both the owner and staff are very warm and enthusiastic. Recommended!

As soon as I arrived at the B&B, the owner recognized me. Yes, I was the tourist who bought the Hongcun ticket just for the B&B. The owner even mistakenly thought I was from Hong Kong, haha! However, this trip to Hongcun really exceeded my expectations. Different from the online comments on Hongcun's commercial tourism, I personally think that Hongcun is a place worth slowly immersing yourself in and experiencing quietly. When it comes to accommodation, the proprietress is really a very meticulous person. She is almost demanding in her hygiene requirements and will double check every sanitary blind spot. I was also very moved by her entrepreneurial story. Seeing her constantly learning and improving herself (including emotional management, communication skills, and even learning live streaming), I could deeply feel her enthusiasm and dedication to providing thoughtful service to every guest. Speaking of food, the proprietress’s cooking skills are also amazing, especially her stinky mandarin fish, chestnut chicken and hairy tofu, each of which makes people unable to help but praise it! These authentic delicacies will definitely be unforgettable once you have tasted them. In addition, the service provided by the boss and his wife was also touching. The boss personally took me to the express delivery point to send the express, and the boss's wife personally accompanied us to take the bus and helped us with our luggage. The service was meticulous and full of emotional value, making this trip more enjoyable. Overall, this trip was not just a visit to the attractions, but also a warm homestay experience. Very good location in Hongcun. Practically behind the Moon pond. The room is modern & clean. Floor heating works well. It takes a bit of time to fill up the massive bath tub (due to electric heating), but it's a heaven sent feature to soak after a long day of walking, especially in winter. The host is friendly & responsive. For price, quality, & comfort, we think it's perfect

This guesthouse is a must-stay when visiting Hongcun to see the Huizhou-style architecture. Its location is absolutely superb, within walking distance of all the popular photo spots, making it super easy to plan your sightseeing. The courtyard is elegant and spotless, and the guest rooms are even cleaner and tidier. The attention to detail in cleanliness is truly impressive; there's no clutter or stains anywhere. It's an old house conversion that beautifully preserves its ancient charm while maintaining excellent living standards. My stay here was a perfect experience!

Tachuan's autumn was made even more beautiful by this guesthouse. I searched on Ctrip for a long time, worried about hygiene issues, but this guesthouse really paid attention to details and was very clean. The moment I opened the door, the automatic welcoming ceremony from 'Xiao Ai' (smart speaker) was very touching. It's right at the entrance of Hongcun and the price is excellent value for money. The proprietress is very kind, and the young man who checked me in, Manager Xiao Wang, was extremely helpful with excellent service. From picking me up at the station to helping me find a car for my travels, he saved me the anxiety and exhaustion of not having a car in Hongcun. The prices were also reasonable. Anyone worried about drivers getting upset in Hongcun can completely entrust their needs to him. At the village entrance, he even used a small electric cart to help with my luggage. There are Hello e-bikes nearby, so you can go to Lucun early in the morning to watch the sunrise. Thank you for providing such a 'utopia' after my busy work. The hygiene was indeed top-notch!
