Excellent place to stay, clean, quiet, located in Yudanaka near the train station. It’s also not far from the ski slopes, and Yoshi the host is also a ski instructor, as well as his friend John. The hosts Seongmi & Yoshi were very helpful to advise surrounding places to visit.

A highlight of my recent travels, AIBIYA offered great accommodations in the small Onsen town of Yamanouchi. The hosts had great communication ahead of my stay and even though I arrived before the scheduled check-in time, they were extremely accommodating, offering me local sake and local insight into the city. Since I was the only guest that evening they upgraded me to a beautifully appointed larger room. While this location does not have its own onsen, they do have paid passes available to a few truly amazing ones just minutes away. Don't miss the change to soak in a UNESCO World Heritage Site! Breakfast provided was in the downstairs kitchen area and was cooked fresh to order. A highlight was the fresh local fruit! At check-out, I was gifted a hand-made soap from the local area. My only regret was not booking a longer stay at this great location.

I had a wonderful stay at Aibiya in February 2023. The accommodation is impeccably clean and very comfortable. Beautiful tatami mat rooms with comfy western beds. Both Yoshi and Seongmi are wonderful hosts with fantastic English. I decided to buy skis while staying at Aibiya and Yoshi and Seongmi went above and beyond to help me by calling friends at ski shops in Nagano and I ended up having fantastic skis with bindings mounted ready to collect the very next day - incredible. I couldn’t have done it without the help from Yoshi and Seongmi. Being able to access three different local onsen and with good value vouchers sold at Aibiya was lovely. For skiers it was also really helpful to have access to a washing machine, drying room (for wet ski gear) and Yoshi will even wax your skis for a great price. You can ski with Yoshi with his company Powder Geek Japan. Breakfast was a delicious western breakfast - I loved the yoghurt, granola and fruit. I cannot recommend Aibiya highly enough.

We absolutely loved this place. Wish we'd booked for a longer stay. Super convenient, really cosy and the hosts were fantastic. There was a lot of excellent information available in the property, about local Onsen, attractions, restaurants etc. The hosts were very happy to facilitate bookings and make recommendations. We love it.

It was a homely inn run by a very friendly couple. It was renovated very nicely and stylishly, and I had a comfortable stay. However, I was disappointed that there was no bicycle rental service, which was listed as a service I was hoping for, and there were only bath towels, as I hadn't brought a toothbrush. I asked for a toothbrush, and they gave me one, but I think some people might misunderstand, so it might be better to change the name.

As a hostel it was very good. It has a Japanese a**osphere and is very clean. The staff are friendly and proactive in communicating with you to give you recommendations. They also put a lot of effort into recycling, so I think it will be popular with foreigners. However, I looked at the hotel page beforehand, and since I didn't think it was a hostel, I assumed that basic amenities would be included since there was a bathroom set. I didn't realize until I got there that the bathroom and toilet were separate, so I think if they made the display more noticeable in Japan, where hostels are relatively uncommon, there might not be a disappoin**ent in that people looking for hotels are different from those expected.

The heating frequently made noises during the night as it turned on and off, waking me up several times. I was given an explanation about the heating when I checked in, but perhaps there was something I needed to do before going to sleep... I regret that I just replied to the owner's explanation and didn't listen properly. In the future, it might be good to have written explanations instead of just verbal ones so I can refer to them later. Overall, it was a very nice space with a clean feeling and the warmth of the wood. Thank you very much.
