The hotel is just opposite the Zao cable car station. If you are towing luggage from Zao Bus Terminal, it will take about 15 minutes. We arrived earlier than check in time. The only owner of the hotel is an old couple, and they are very nice people. The boss can speak a little English. The hotel is on a hillside, so it's best to call the boss to pick him up by car. It will be difficult to climb the hill by yourself with luggage. Dinner was at a nearby restaurant, and the owner drove us there. We were really happy to stay in this hotel. The location was very central and connected with other mean of transportations (busses and trains) which is very beneficial if you are going to visit Zao Onsen or Ginzan Onsen. They also connected to this mall S-Pal (with supermarkets and small resto). The room very clean and full with amenities. The staff really helpfull. No complain at all.

It was a hotel directly connected to Yamagata Station. The weather was good on the day I stayed, the mountain 々 was clear at dusk, and I was able to see a beautiful moon at night. It was the day of the Yamagata Hanagasa Festival, so the location was perfect. Since it is a historic hotel, I don't think there is anything bad about the service or food. It's a compact cityscape, so I'd like to stay here again when I go to Yamagata City. The day before, I stayed at the Toyoko Inn behind Yamagata Station, and it was a much better hotel than I could compare.

It was 7000 yen per night. The parking lot is 600 yen per night, but it was good that it was free to put in and out because it was not three-dimensional. The natural hot spring was pleasant. I was happy that there was a drink service at night, and the breakfast buffet had potato boiled and tamacon depending on the day.
