My experience at Cottage Morinokokage was fantastic. The kindness and hospitality of Mr. Nakashima cannot be understated. The cottage was pleasant, comfortable, and full of every amenity we wanted (plus more). Mr. Nakashima helped us book our car rental, which was an essential part of the island experience for us. Getting to come and go as needed and stock up the car with hiking supplies was incredibly helpful. We also leaned on him for reservations for dinner and to a chopstick making class near the airport. Yakushima is a truly special place and Cottage Morinokokage was an essential part of the experience.

There are buses from Airport or the Teófilo ferry stations which drop you very near , they have all the facilities in case you get wet in some of your expeditions , shoes dryer , washing and dryer machines. I left some accesorios and they managed to send them back to my hotel in Kyoto .

Morinokokage was by far the best place we stayed during our trip. The rooms were big, clean and very comfortable. There’s free laundry machines/dryers and a building open 24/7 with food and drink vending machines. Our host, Nakashima-San was incredibly helpful and welcoming. He gave us a detailed tour of our rooms when we checked in, booked reservations for us at his favorite local spots and gave advice on how to best spend our two days on the island. When the weather changed our plans, he repeatedly checked in with us with helpful updates. After we told him we were going to hike in shiratani unsuikyo the next morning, he knocked on our door an hour or so later to give us a lighter and salt in case of leeches! He also gifted us a hefty bag of tea the morning we left. Don’t hesitate, this is a really special place and Nakashima-San is a deeply caring and wise host.

A beautiful park with beautiful cottages that are fully equipped. Air conditioning available. Excellent beds, everything very clean, good location on the island, washing machines and dryers that are free to use. The welcome was hospitable and fantastic. Restaurant tips, helping us with car rental and excursions. Nothing was too much. And proactive. The owner (who built the park himself) asks questions to see if he can help with anything. Top stay.
