The hotel room itself was clean and neat and comfortable, and the staff member at the front desk was friendly and helpful. We booked the hotel because it was close to Lizhong water Forrest park and Qiandou scenic area, and the trip.com website says it accepts foreigners/all passports.
However the checkin experience was bad if you are a foreigner/non-chinese speaking - it took us almost 1.5 hours and was quite stressful (including phoning a friend for some help). Even though the website says this hotel accepts all passports, after we arrived we were told in order to stay there we had to go to the local police station and register and get a piece of paper to bring back. We had no car and the location was not easy to get a didi at night, so the hotel helped and organised their driver to take us to the police station which cost another 80 RMB. Once at the police station the driver chatted to three different police. The police didn’t take our details or check our documents, and after 10-15 minutes standing around they sent us back to the hotel without any registration paper but we could suddenly check in.
If you are Chinese then the hotel experience will be good, if you are a foreigner another hotel in Xinghua might be easier.
