Xiamen Haicang District Hotels

After spending our first night on Gulangyu Island, we had originally planned to leave Xiamen the following day after sightseeing. However, an urgent matter came up, and by the time we finished dealing with it, it was almost 11 PM. We made a rather last-minute decision to stay another night, so I quickly searched online and found this hotel with an impressive 4.7 rating. Its opening in 2017 was another plus, suggesting the interiors wouldn't be too dated. After reviewing the hotel's photos and services, we were particularly attracted by the pool, which the kids would love, and the choice of sea view or mountain view rooms. We promptly booked online. Upon check-in, we could call the front desk to request disposable bath liners, kids' bathrobes, and toiletries. Soaking in the spacious bathtub was incredibly refreshing for both children and adults. Enjoying a few cups of Gongfu tea afterwards was simply delightful, and the tea set was a thoughtful touch that perfectly catered to our Chaoshan tea preferences. During our stay, an unexpected situation arose. The night concierge, whom we'd added on WeChat during check-in, provided incredibly prompt assistance. A big thumbs up to the hotel's management! I'd also like to commend the on-duty concierge and manager for their professionalism and efficient problem-solving. This hotel truly met my expectations for this Xiamen trip. I would definitely choose it again and recommend it to friends and family.

I booked a sea-view king room. The room was quite spacious and offered excellent views, directly overlooking the sea. Its location near Songyu Pier made getting to Gulangyu Island very convenient. We happened to visit during a children's summer hockey tournament, so the hotel was quite busy these days. The kids also enjoyed playing in the pool in the evenings. Overall, I was very satisfied with every aspect of our stay. The young lady at the front desk was incredibly helpful, and the service was very attentive. Our stay experience was absolutely top-notch.

This stay experience exceeded expectations. The location is very convenient. It is very convenient to eat and shop around. The room is clean and tidy. The bedding is soft and comfortable. Good. Come here next time.

The room is spacious and bright, and the sea view room has a pleasant view and surrounding environment. But the bedding is a bit old and the mattress is too soft. The food in the executive lounge is too monotonous. The breakfast is also too ordinary.

It was originally Atour, but I didn't feel the quality of Atour at all. The parking at the door was cramped and I had to be pointed by the street merchants. Except for being close to the Yuyu Pier, it was almost useless. The next day I immediately changed the hotel. On the day of check-in, I also encountered elevator maintenance. I waited for a long time. In addition, there were guests shouting in the corridor in the middle of the night, and cooking vegetable oil smoke in the room. The price of nearly 300 felt to pay for the location. The experience was the worst in the hotel recently.

Sanyu Shanhai Hotel is in a good location, the surrounding living facilities are complete, the sound insulation effect is very good, the night sleep is stable, the room design is very tasteful, the toiletries are also good, next time you come to Xiamen, you will stay here.

Okay, but much better options exist if you have the money and book in advance. First of all, its a separate class of hotel situated within the very same Marriot (which is higher end), so consider this a class below the actual Marriot. The exit is separate, and leads mostly to nowhere, and you will most likely enter the real Marriot part of the building at first, but thankfully staff knows this is a common mistake and leads you through a small hallway of about 200m to the other reception where you will be greeted by just as professional staff. They don't include any toiletries but will deliver them swiftly to the room door if you need any, I guess its ecological, in their mind, but practically..ultimately pointless and saves no one's time and energy. The room itself is a bit of a step down from regular 4* chain hotels - the size, the leather on the furniture is torn and worn a bit, and it shows its age and class. There are similarly priced competitors within the same 1-2km range, who do a much better job, plus better view, for a few bucks more. It should be priced a bit lower in order to be a good deal and vibe for the money. Ultimately an okay hotel, no one will be disappointed, but the value to me just isn't there, and the real Marriot is in the same building, but you are getting the cheaper version of it, watered down.

It's my first time to visit Xiamen. I looked at several hotels and chose this one. The ladies at the front desk were very enthusiastic. They helped to upgrade the room and gave us a piece of fruit. The facilities in the room were very complete. I like this hotel very much.

His exceptional customer service skills made a lasting impression on me, and I greatly appreciate his efforts in making my stay enjoyable. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a quiet and smoke-free environment, along with exceptional hospitality from staff members like Eric. It's a true gem for those looking for a peaceful retreat.

The chess competition was held at Gulangwan Hotel, and it was very convenient to stay here with children to participate in the competition. We originally booked a family room, but because the family room was not in the same building as the competition venue, the front desk changed the room for us. The new room is adjacent to the competition venue, so children can go directly back to the room to rest after each round of competition, which is much more comfortable than waiting in the lobby. The decoration is a bit old-fashioned, but the hygiene is good. The toilet door was broken and not repaired. Hope it can be improved.
