I decided to change to this hotel last minute.
No regrets with my decision. The hotel is very beautiful and unique. My room is just right close to the beautiful garden with a lot of plants.
This is a 4 star hotel as listed in Gulangsu.
I am so impressed, and keep repeating to my family about the hotel staff's best service. They help answer quite a lot of questions before our arrival.
They helped me book the visit to Ba Gua Lou, I knew I needed to book in advance that's why I had no plan to visit it by right.
Special thanks to the butler, 泡芙 and the young guy 小陈, the 5 star service they provided during our stay.
泡芙 fetched us at piano dock. She also helped us take the family pictures and my cheong sam pictures. Honestly she spent a lot of time that day just because of our photo session.
The 2nd night was so cold, she helped serve the high tea set to our room instead, that was our first time to have high tea at night time. Hahah.
小陈 is a very polite and meticulous young guy, he suggest me the itinerary of the sight seeing spot. While he talked to me, he never forgot to serve me a cup of drink. That evening me and my girl dressed up in the Chinese costume, my right hand held the long dress and my left hand held two thick winter wears, he saw we stepped in then quickly helped to carry the winter wear.
After check out he helped us carry the stuff to the piano dock too.
I love this island. I love this hotel, it makes me feel as warm as home. I wish I can back here again.
If you have plan to visit this island with your family, YiJu hotel, highly recommended!

Yiju Hotel is beyond our expectations. The room was beautifully presented, and the staff there was polite and helpful. The afternoon tea on the rooftop was very memorable, and the staff took family photos for us. He sent them to us by WeChat and printed a few of them out. No effort was spared - on the envelope was a message in English as he realised my husband doesn't speak Chinese. Breakfast was again beautifully presented in the quaint courtyard. They helped us register to see the Baguo Building - we had no idea we have to pre-register. They helped bring our luggage down to town upon check out and gave us a lunch recommendation, which we thoroughly enjoyed. I am truly thankful for the level of service they have extended and I highly recommend this hotel!

Great hotel in a historic building. Service is lovely, though we can’t speak Chinese. Anyway, for me, the bathroom is a little bit small with 30 % translucent wall. I think the owner can add a privacy screen at its terrace to add privacy and make this room perfect.

The hotel is located in a beautiful and quiet place. While living in this hotel I enjoyed a good service, comfortable and clean room, beautiful views and good memories. It is very convenient to get to this hotel from the ferry, but you need to find the right way to avoid the ladders if you carry a heavy luggage with you. The only point: if you are a European and don’t like Chinese breakfasts, it’s better for you to take a room without breakfast and eat in the morning at the restaurants which serve the European food or at McDonald’s/KFC/Starbucks. This hotel is one of the best on the island.

Beautiful building. Beautiful room. Nice bathroom, very good amenities. Strongly recommended.
The only thing is that there was no TV in the room - but this is understandable : the Island is so beautiful that you have to be outside the room and sightseeing.

This hotel was converted from a villa on Gulangyu Island and looks very tasteful.
Let me talk about the advantages first:
1. It is very close to Bagua Tower. The hotel will help you make an appointment for a visit.
2. Not far from the snack street, the hotel butler will recommend good restaurants
3. The hotel itself is a tourist attraction, and the hotel’s rooftop is also a popular check-in spot for internet celebrities.
4. The hotel's service is good. You can make an appointment for a butler to pick you up at the pier (Sanqiutian Pier has resumed navigation), but it depends on whether the butler is available. The hotel's housekeeper was very considerate. When he saw us going out, he chased us out to give us a map of Gulangyu Island and introduced us to various check-in spots.
Let's talk about the hotel's shortcomings:
1. The hotel requires climbing a small slope and there is no elevator. It is not recommended to stay in Gulangyu if you have large luggage.
2. The facilities in the room are not very elderly-friendly, especially the bathroom, where the elderly almost fell. The toilet is very small, and the biggest problem is the shower room, which is facing the entrance. When you turn on the light to take a shower at night, the privacy is really poor. The room facilities are the worst among all the hotels in this Fujian trip, no doubt about it.
3. Breakfast was still a bit salty and simple, with just two buns, a bowl of porridge and some side dishes. . .
