Excellent food. Proprietor and staff all extremely friendly. Good sized room. Bus to Newcastle departs from stop over the road and railway station is less than half a mile away. Convenience store almost opposite and several pubs nearby. Everyone staying seemed to thoroughly enjoy this place.

We were walking the wall and rather than stay in Heddon we opted for Wylam. Nice choice. The Laburnum Guest House at Bistro en Glaze was probably the nicest room in all the inns on the 12 day trip (3 of those days were in London). Our room was larger than the typical English inn room, which is generally very tight - closer to an American standard in size - it was nicely decorated in a violet color with lots of small details. The proprietor is a gardener (or at least plays the role well) - the back garden is completely revamped over the grassy lawn shown in older pictures. My understanding is that the proprietor is new-ish, maybe having owned the property less than a year (writing this summer 2022). He was helpful to us as we had to leave some baggage fees for a vendor the next day after we had departed - and he had it all sorted out no troubles. Oh also - the price was right - cheaper than almost every other inn we booked on this whole trip. Wylam is a small and charming town with food and beverage options that are bigger than you'd think. The Bistro en Glaze here at the guest house is a fine restaurant. For a great bar, walk 5 minutes across to the train station and have a fab time at the Boathouse - an active and friendly pub. I loved our room and am so glad we chose this property in sweet little Wylam to begin our wall walk. Highly recommended

Was a little apprehensive as it was so reasonably priced, but I needn't have worried it was lovely. A warm and friendly greeting when we arrived, shown to our room which was spotlessly clean, and I would say recently decorated. Lots of special little touches, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, bookcase with books, decent TV, my only minor moan was the mattress, but I'm sure as time progresses, they will get changed. Quirky and cosy, room 2 overlooking the main road even with the window open it was quiet, a decent sized en suite. There is a lovely garden in the back, unfortunately it was too cold to sit out. The restaurant and menu looked a delight, but not to be as we working. Staff were uncompromisingly friendly. Would I return, well yes I can't wait and am planning on returning in the near future.

We stayed in Room 3, a lovely room to the back of tiIhe buildingo, overlooking the garden. It was spotlessly clean and comfortable- perhaps not the best mattress in the world - but we both had a good night's sleep. There was a decent sized en suite bathroom with large bath and shower etc. It seems to have been recently redecorated so is in excellent condition. All in all, a very pleasant and reasonably priced place to stay with the massive added bonus of a delicious restaurant just downstairs

Great value accommodation in a nice village not too far from Newcastle. Room large, warm and comfortable. Restaurant served delicious food. Excellent choice and we'll be going back when we next visit the area.

Great little B&B. We had the family room for three ladies. King size and a sofa bed, we made it work. Breakfast nice It get very busy for breakfast. Nice little market on the Sunday. Parking was limited, only one space at the back for the hotel, but got the impression that other people in the street use it

First class bed and breakfast with fantastic food. Very friendly people indeed the staff and owners were excellent. Rooms were clean and tidy. The location is excellent parking a slight problem but don’t let this put you off staying here. We enjoyed our stay. Shaun and Barbara

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It is right in the centre of Wylam, opposite a range of pubs and amenities. The staff were absolutely lovely, made us feel very welcome. The bedroom overlooked the garden with fabulous views beyond. It was so quiet at night. The outdoor area is fab and there is a small amount of parking at the back. We bought breakfast which was really nice. Would highly recommend this as a perfect stay

Great service, lovely welcome and generally really nicely done. And while perhaps some of the actual finish to the décor has been done on a bit of a budget which does sometimes make you feel that the setting and the pricing are a little out of step, you have to also say that a lot of care and attention has gone into this in terms of presentation, which makes them quirky and interesting guest rooms and the same in the bistro. We ate here and the menu and food was great, the chef is a talented man - not just with the main menu items, but with much of the baked items like sourdough, brioche buns and breakfast waffles being home made as well. We really enjoyed our stay and dining experience here.
