We were welcomed by Edward who was very personable and helpful. We stayed in Scott room which had everything you needed incl tea coffee biscuits and water. Bed and pillows very comfortable. All spotlessly clean. We had the window open and noise not an issue but maybe less busy on a Thursday. Lovely full English breakfast cooked to perfection served by Holly who was also warm and friendly. Highly recommend

Excellent pub, excellent beer, excellent staff- what more could you desire! Particular thanks to Ellis the housekeeper who was a fountain of information concerning the building’s history and provided a truly amazing full English breakfast! Loads of character and a real step back in time. Will go back in a drop of ‘The Hat’!!

Somewhat weird. Great central location, comfortable bed, nice clean, tho tiny, shower and with cute personality; but the broken fan in the wardrobe made it hard to hang stuff, the wand holder in the shower was also broken, the car parking advice on their website is wrong, and its pretty strange when the only way to check out early is via the fire escape. Quite the experience.

We absolutely loved everything about The Cardinals Hat. The staff were lovely and the room was superb, the bed was really comfortable too. We would absolutely recommend staying here.

We stayed in the Tilley room, this was our 2nd stay in this room and we noticed the tatty rattan chairs had been replaced since our last visit and the cleanliness of the room was much better. The bed is fantastically comfortable and bathroom excellent. The street can be noisy though. The staff as last time are young but friendly, particular shout out to the girl working the bar Friday evening ( used to work in a pub down the road she said), she was excellent…. very friendly and very capable. Also must mention the lad cooking the breakfast Saturday morning…. did a great job , well presented and all whilst on his own.

Had a wonderful couple of nights stay in the King John suite. Check in was at the bar - and it seems the place gets very busy! But the staff are friendly and helpful. The room itself was neat and clean and well presented, with a couple of bottles of water, a couple of packs of biscuits, and drink making facilities - which was helpful when we'd just got in. The bathrooms a good size - lights and fan are automatic, and there's a nice big bath. The lights have dimmer switches, which is ideal for mornings or evenings when you need to see but don't want the world too bright. The curtains seem to be blackout ones, which is handy given the street outside, with an inner sheer layer so you can let light in and still have privacy. The room looks out over the front of the pub - which was nice with the chris**as lights having been turned on. There was some noise from the street below (mainly people who'd got in a bit too high spirits), but it's not on the main road so it's not bad. Outside of normal opening hours, there's another door so you can still come and go. And in the evening, after we retired to our room, we heard the piano being played and some singing after closing time - which was lovely! The place has a wonderful a**osphere! And loved staying somewhere with such heritage! Breakfast was lovely! I added a cooked breakfast in while I was there for the Monday morning, and as a Vegetarian I was delighted! Veggie sausage, baked beans, toast, tomatos and the mushrooms... oh, the mushrooms were delishous! Great way to start the day! And it was served in the snug - photos attached - which was decorated for Chris**as, and a really nice setting to eat in. There's also outdoor seating under a covered area, which looks lovely but this was hardly the time of year to enjoy. What's keeping it from 5 stars? Mostly little things: - The joints on the bed seemed a little loose, so would move a little when leant against. - The fixtures in the bathroom (sink tap, toilet roll holder) were a bit loose and would shift when used. (Also, be aware the floor of that bathroom is a bit slippery even when not wet!) - One of the three lights in the light over the bed would basically go off entirely when the lights were on lowest setting - A guide to the times they're serving food (and menu) would be handy in the rooms. We went down a little after 7.30 on the Sunday evening, and the kitchens were closed (which is a shame: eating on site would have been convenient, and I was looking forward to trying their pies!). They'd also stopped serving drinks on the Saturday evening when we got in... but I'm uncertain on the time so might have just missed it around 11pm. .....- In their defence, though, it seems much of Worcester stops serving food before 8pm, as we tried another pub, and one of the restaurants on that street (there are a lot of eating places along that street), and both were closed (we ended up going to the Nandos, which was close by too). Just something to be aware of whe

The pub is the focus, the rooms above are not. Temper your expectations accordingly. Accommodations are good, but far from outstanding. I was in the Scott room I think. The mini fridge did not work. The bathroom was clean, but the shower needs caulking at the base and the shower head needs repair. The bed was comfortable. Expect some noise from the pub below, more if the outside patio space is in use. Also, my room was not serviced the second day. I made the bed myself, packed the breakfast hamper and placed it on the landing.

Stopped in the King John room at short notice as the hotel we had originally booked, Brown’s Boutique Hotel, informed us 40 minutes before we were due to arrive that they were closing due to flooding. Apparently, this happens 4 or 5 times a year which might be useful to know if you are deciding between the two. Room was large, clean and comfortable as was the bathroom. Bar is a lovely, old pub with a real fire and lots of a**osphere. It got very busy so worth booking a table if you are eating. Steak and Stilton pie with mash was amazing. Staff were friendly and the cooked breakfast is only another £5 per person. Recommend.

A lovely stay in the oldest pub in Worcester. Room was small but comfortable. The staff were very nice and helpful.
