Our Host lives in a cottage at the rear of the premises, which is fenced off and private from the Beach House. Should you require assistance during your stay, our Host is only a phone call away or a short distance walk. Other things to note You cannot swim at the beach as crocodiles inhabit the area. The beach is safe and clean for walking and sunbathing. The beach stretches uninterrupted for about 20 km to the north to the mouth of the Daintree River. Neighbourhood Wonga Beach has a long stretch of sandy coastline that has a beautiful lush backdrop of huge Calophyllum trees interspersed with Coconut palms. Behind the sand dunes at the northern end is the Melaleuca forest beyond which the mangroves and wetland of the Daintree River system begins. Looking south you can see Island Point which shelters the harbor entrance of Port Douglas, which looks like an island from offshore. There is plenty of local wildlife, with various bird species, cassowaries and wallabies cruising Wonga Beach. If you feel the need to step out of the seclusion and gain a village vibe, Port Douglas is a 20-minute drive and great for shopping, cafes, bars and fine dining. If you are feeling more adventurous, visit The Daintree, Mossman Gorge and Cairns is just over an hour's drive. Other places of interest are Kuranda Village and the Tablelands.
