Dirty, staff (well only saw one) seen more personality in a dead frog. I stay away 4 nights very week this place is how not to do it. No food, the noise from other rooms was unreal you could a fart. Traffic noise awful ok it’s on a main road so that is what it is. Seriously I wouldn’t stay here again if you paid the bill for me and at the best part of £100 they should be ashamed.

Excellent food, Bar, and rooms. so much more than a Premier inn or similar. Staff were on the ball, polite and went beyond any expectations. Land lady was well and truly in control. No drunks or druggies to be found here. Very refreshing to find a nice pub run by nice people for nice people I will be back.

Lovely food lovely staff and lovely atmosphere also very chikd friendly and dog friendly the patio is lovely and inside as well as patio it looks out on a lovely view. They have rooms if you want to stay over. The Christmas decorations are lovely and they have lots going on and lots of good deals.

We were given a warm welcome and shown to our room which was very comfy with a lovely hot shower. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was good at both dinner and breakfast. I would definitely recommend this pub as a reasonably priced nights stay.

The pub was fine; the chef was great. The manager, a little odd. My friend went to the toilet and was caught short at the lack of toilet roll in the gents. He rang me and requested my help in his time of need! I of course obliged like any human would. The manager came with a roll of toilet roll and started reprimanding me for going in a male toilet. She also stated she wouldn’t go in there until my friend had come out. A little confusing considering the reason he hadn’t evacuated the area was in her hands. She then continued to state that I had done wrong. What kind of human would not appreciate the helping hand of toilet roll and not the mere sacrifice of socks? I know I would. Honestly clapped. This manager was rather disappointing throughout our visit and quite honestly just a bit pathetic. While the pub itself was ok, and our overall visit was nice with friends and family, the manager made herself and her team look ridiculous today. Good job.

Good afternoon, This rather generous 1 star review is in part a reply to the below comments made by what is clearly a disillusioned, insecure owner who feels the need to belittle, intimidate and be rather frankly be rude and sarcastic towards their potential/former customers. We thank you for your comments however we would like to clarify the following: As you can see from the screen shots attached above accordingly to your own website and social media you clearly identity as a “pub with rooms & Restaurant”. However according to your response, you no longer agree with the above as you are now a pub. If the website and social media is to be believe, then having a drinks menu is one of the smallest expectations any paying customer would expect from a pub & restaurant. The problem was not that the waitress attended our needs extremely quickly regarding drinks it was more of a problem that we did not know what was on offer as there was no drinks menu as mentioned above. At no point did the waitress mention what was on offer either. It was as if we are just magically meant to know what products you stock and offer. I would like to add which was previously left out of our review was also the fact we had ordered various drinking including a Latte and upon arrive the Latte turned into a Cappuccino. Now we are not expecting barista level coffee but there is clearly some training required. We choose to attend your pub and restaurant no sorry pub based on the good reviews we have seen online. We booked our reservation online and at no point did it mention there was a reduced Sunday menu. As you can see from your own website attached above in the images it is also very unclear that there is indeed a separate “Sunday menu” therefore it took us by surprise when we arrived to be eventually greeted with the reduced “Sunday” menu. Might I suggest you develop the website to make this clear that on Sundays there is indeed a reduced menu. We were indeed informed very politely that the fryers were indeed down for maintenance which was not a problem. I surely do hope that the fryers do not take the written warning personally and return to work as soon as possible. Upon ordering the food we were in-deeded informed about the 45-minute wait for the vegan and vegetarian roasts. We are more than happy to wait for freshly cooked food however the tone of the comment is what made us feel uncomfortable with our food order as if it’s causing your staff and establishment problems by ordering such a complex meal. Might I also interject at no point was we asked if there were any dietary / allergy requirements for our party of 6. You already know there is both a vegan and vegetarian based on the meal choices above however there is also a member of our party who is deathly allergic to nuts which could have caused you a major health and safety issue. Again, might we suggest further training to deepen your staff’s knowledge to help avoid this becoming an issue further down th

This review is solely about the food as didn’t stay in the rooms. This place has a lot of great reviews especially for their Sunday roasts and is in a nice location which made our visit even more disappointing. Upon sitting down we were immediately asked what we’d like to drink without being given any drinks menu (and never did). We then received very shortened menus of the one shown on their website, containing a fraction of the mains shown online including burger, scampi and chips, lasagna, noodles and one type of frankfurter. All the roasts and sides were available, however we were then told that their fryer wasn’t working so there were no starters and all items with chips would be with roast or mashed potatoes. Upon ordering the vegan roast we were told it would take 45 minutes to cook, which we didn’t mind but felt like they were trying to put us off ordering it. We were a group of 6 and my friends who had the veggie and vegan roasts commented about how bland the food was, with the roast potatoes tasting like packaged frozen supermarket ones. There was a family of 6 sitting across from us and we noticed that they had been given two Yorkshire puddings on their roasts whilst we had one, and cauliflower cheese which had been listed on the menu, I appreciate that the vegan roast wouldn’t contain that but they could’ve put it on the veggie one. I had the noodles and my partner the burger, and as you can see from the photo these portions were tiny, the burger tasted like a cheap burger van burger and the potatoes were anaemic. We also had to ask for sauce and salad items for the burgers that were listed on the menu. I wish I had taken more photos of the poor food and menu to show how bad it was. Service was poor with no one coming up to us asking how our food was and we declined desserts. They also dropped ketchup on the floor on my partners trousers and shoes and didn’t apologise, instead swore loudly and just making a comment that ‘it’s only a little bit of ketchup you’ll survive’. It’s only an accident but at least apologise. Overall I don’t understand how this experience was so bad when pretty much all the reviews I’ve read have been positive, it felt like they had a very bad day with potentially no chefs at the back and they were just panic cooking everything themselves. I’d never come back here and recommend everyone to avoid.
