We stayed for a weekend . The food and service can’t be faulted . The breakfast is amazing , and the menu is delicious. We ate here twice over the weekend . One of the best places to eat in the area . A beautiful pub , lovely outdoor seating also . Really disappointed with the rooms tho . Does not match the standard of the pub and food which we both expected . The beds were comfy but the rooms tired and dated , I’d say early 00’s late 90’s. . The bathroom was really poor . Tiles loose around the bath , the tile adhesive everywhere is worn, coming away and mould in places . Rust around the mirror as well . The room itself was just about ok . You could see bubble marks on one of the wall where it had damp and had been painted over to a poor standard . There is a damaged fire exit light that has been fixed with plasters stuck all over the light , where the casing has smashed!! Wow ! How has that been allowed !? . Even the benches outside the rooms have been neglected, and need a few coats of wood protection over them . Overall an amazing place to eat , but unfortunately one of the poorest rooms I’ve stayed in for some time . Such a shame , but it’s in desperate need of some modernisation and basic maintenance. Should have got an air b&b for the price . Will definitely come again for food , but would not recommend staying , which is a real shame.

We stayed one night but were on edge as the bathroom was so awful and the bedroom was tatty. It was like a very cheap motel room. The bathroom was not very clean and bugs kept appearing from the shower. The blinds were broken on the door. This place needs seriously updating and regularly deep cleaned, We would never stay again. We went on to the Rose and Crown at Snettisham and this is a wonderful place, comfy and spotless

Full disclosure. We booked for 1.30pm but did not turn up until 1.50 due to driver error. We had reviewed the extensive menus on line but the menu presented offered a fraction of the choices even including the specials board.Despite our late arrival the staff were most welcoming throughout our visit. We encountered the same sticky table with crumbs in the grooves plus the flies mentioned in earlier reviews. We ordered but were soon told that neither choice was available so we settled for cod cakes salad and fries. The fries were great but the salad was undressed. The cod cakes were very heavy on the potato and could have done with a bit of a kick. Not the Chef’s finest hour.I really cannot recommend.

I stayed here recently with friends for a Friday and Saturday night. The room is a good size, but was in need of some attention. The bed and bathroom were clean but the floor needed cleaning, as did the windows. The windows have blinds but these were partly broken, and they don't cover the full width of the window, so you probably won't get much sleep after sunrise or before sunset. The windows are only single-glazed, so there may be a little noise from the pub, and you'll hear most passing cars (although the road is quiet overnight). The wi-fi only works some of the time. All in all, the rooms are overpriced for what you get.

Lovely starters . Desperate Chicken Kiev Main - complacency must have been the bottom line ! Chicken Kiev should be a simple and comforting dish ! Not - nuked , so that the garlic butter has evaporated and served on a bed of kimchi (?) and a strange tomato sauce ! C’mon - don’t take your customers for granted , please !

Booked last minute on OpenTable for Sunday lunch, used to visit regularly 5+ years ago and the Sunday dinners were great. However was disappointed on our return due to lack of value for money. The waiter was very polite and said that the roast dinner included "roast potatoes, veg, cauliflower cheese, the works" (waiter's words) so was hopeful for a decent portion. I don't mind spending £22.50 on a roast dinner but the portion was incredibly small! The food was OK, but there was hardly any of it. One small carrot, one piece of cauliflower etc. Small Yorkshire pudding. Seemed to be very little of everything. Also (as a small note) we ordered bread to share to start, however there were 3 pieces of bread. Obviously that's fine, but it makes much more sense to offer either 2 or 4 pieces as most people will order to share. Wouldn't return as there are many places charging less with the same if not better quality and reasonable portion sizes. We left feeling slightly conned to be honest, couldn't believe the price considering how small the portion was. We love going out for a treat dinner every Sunday and have tried 20 or more restaurants in North Norfolk including other upmarket places along the coast and I can't think of one charging this much for so little food.

Sunday roast - top-notch. Visited without a reservation and with a dog. Staff really welcoming .. helpfully gave us a small side room for the rather large dog - treats for him and a sharing roast chicken platter for us followed by sticky toffee pud. Portions generous and food hot and nicely presented. We left full and happy.
