I was quite disappointed with my stay. The room was very small – nothing like the spacious one shown in the pictures. For £100 a night (booked a month in advance), I expected a lot more. There was no water provided, which felt a bit off for the price. Also, the checkout time is 11 AM but breakfast starts only at 10 AM, which doesn't really give guests enough time to enjoy it properly. I usually don’t complain, but this didn’t feel like value for money at all.

Quaint hotel with lots of charm and appeal. Located within easy access to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling! Adele and her staff took great care of us and we would definitely stay again if we are back in Scotland! Just be forewarned that there is no elevator, so you will need to carry luggage up the stairs! They also serve a great full breakfast!

I stayed here as a solo female on a work trip (after having it recommended by the lady who ran the course in the area) and I must say was pleasantly surprised on arrival to find it an old building with lots of charm but fully modernised with a thriving bar and nightlife on the Saturday night, including a singer, and lovely well equipped rooms. I stayed in a single the first night and a triple on the top floor for my second two night and both were extremely comfortable with good facilities including TV, tea and coffee making station & powerful shower. Even better, it was extremely sunny when I stayed so I was able to enjoy sitting out on the front terrace with a G&T after my course, enjoying a bit of sun on my face. I enjoyed the dirty haggis fries on my first night and the Indian of the road on subsequent nights. The Scottish breakfast was well worth waiting for and was enormous very tasty and filling so much so I didn’t need lunch! I would definitely recommend to anyone else staying in the area and hope to return if I’m ever up this way again

Granted it wasn’t a busy night and there isn’t a lot of bar staff on but horrendously slow to embarrassing levels. This is something I’ve heard from other patrons visiting. Must do better. The layout is great plenty of sport but means nothing if you wait 5 to 10 for a beer.

Popped in yesterday for a meal and a few drinks with two friends. All three of us opted for the fish and chips, we were offered two smaller fish and chips for £19, if we wanted. We declined the offer and opted for the standard ones. Sadly the fish were all tiddlers and we were glad we didn't opt for the smaller ones. As a fisherman, I would have thrown them back as they were too small. Disappointing. We would have been better nipping to the Golden Fry chip shop next door.

Worst experience we’ve ever had in a hotel. We booked for one night as we were attending our friends birthday party, dumped our stuff and ordered a meal fish and chips for two the fish batter was dark brown obviously the oil required changing that was just the start of the nightmare, things just got worst, came back went to our room it was freezing no heating unbelievable a small electric heater that didn’t heat the room only it’s self, had to keep our clothes on and wrap ourselves in the duvet impossible to sleep it was Baltic, couldn’t have shower as the toilet was even colder like walking into a fridge. We had to wait till 10am to have a cooked breakfast thought might as well get something that we’ve paid for low and behold the chef was stuck in traffic and we couldn’t have breakfast until she showed up at 11am.My husband spoke to the young man when he handed the key and complained about the fridge we were supposed to sleep in and his response was did they not tell you at checking there was a problem with the heating. No one mentioned to us the heating was faulty, why if they new the heating was faulty in the middle of winter did they not contact us and let us know to give us the opportunity to get somewhere else to stay. There were no one to complain to in the morning when we left can’t believe we had to pay for the privilege of staying in a fridge. The only positive thing about this place the staff are nice. Have visited this eatery for a few years now for occasional lunches. Alway found the food very good value for money. Unfortunately can’t say the same for yesterday’s visit. Both myself and my friend ordered chicken fajitas which took ages to arrive. The portion size was very small, the sauce was dried and stuck to the dish, the vegetables were nonexistent. We both had 2 wraps which were crispy (obviously had been overheated), but there was only enough chicken to fill one each. All in all we were both very disappointed and will not be returning to what used to be one of our favourite places to eat.

Visited Sunday evening with 2 other couples after attending Hamilton Races. First time visit and won't be the last. Food was very tasty. Had the Haggis Stack for starter which wad delicious, well presented haggis, neeps and tatties in a delicious sauce. Steak and Sausage pie for main, fab flaky pastry and a great filling of steak and sausage cooked in a delicious thick gravy. Friendly service from the bar staff and drinks were very reasonable also. Clean and comfortable pub with a great service, will try the hotel next time i am in town. Thanks.
