Our stay at Sea Dragon was amazing. Kangaroo island is a special place where nature is center stage and landscapes are difficult to forget. The staff at sea dragon go the extra mile to make sure your experience is unique. Our room was very comfortable with a design that projects you to the terrace and a breathtaking view of the bay. Very often kangaroos or wallabies were snacking just under the terrace. The restaurant is cozy, full window walls on the bay, delicious food and ample wine selection. The staff is super friendly and the level of service is top. We would have not enjoyed so much our stay or seen so much or the island without the help of the staff. Whether it was an excursion or something you forgot in the room, they were always there to make everything easy for you and just let you enjoy the beauty of the island, which now feels like home. A special thank you to Karen!

My wife and I stayed here 3 nights in January ( apologies for the delayed review). All meals and alcoholic beverages included in the daily rate which is expensive but worth every cent Karen the owner is a poppet and runs a very efficient operation. The staff are friendly and very competent The food is first class innovative and focuses on local ingredients wherever possible. The lime ant pie came from Adelaide ! ( it was delish) the wines are locally sourced too. The views from the restaurant are outstanding. If you want to see kangaroos this is the place! The rooms are well appointed with all modern appliances and spacious showers. Each bungalow has its own terrace with views of the ocean The day tours ( included in the price) are very interesting. The guides are knowledgeable you learn a lot about island culture, the environment, economy , wildlife. But be prepared for long days in the mini-bus. The island if I recall is about 150 km long and 50 km north to south. On the wildlife excursion you cover more than 300 km in a day if you are a nature lover it’s worth every km! We saw kangaroos, koalas and seals ( even though 90 per cent of the koala population was wiped out in the 2021-22 bush fires). It’s amazing to see how fast flora and fauna is regenerating on the island after the fires. The second tour is a tasting tour which is also well worth the time. And the island distillery produces some of the best gin I have tasted). I would definitely go back!

The Sea Dragon on Kangaroo Island has its own particular sort of magic. The accommodation is based on villas and rooms set in large semi wild grounds and facing the sea with a main block for meals. Progress to and fro is monitored by members of the island's unique (and very laid back) kangaroo species. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and well looked after, and the Sea Dragon provides breakfast and evening meals of a very high standard. So why did we like it so much - the sense of being surrounded by nature. It seems to be a feature of the island that the animals and birds are relaxed about the presence of humans because they know that people will not get intrusively close; - the very warm, friendly, and personal approach of Karin and all of the young enthusiastic staff; - the care taken to ensure that there will always be something on the menu which everyone will like (which includes both contacting guests in advance to find out about dietary requirements and preferences, and being flexible when you are there); - the fantastic tours which are part of the package, with expert guides (in our case the wonderful Bridgette) who know both their subject matter and the Island itself very well. Karin seems keen to try new things - in our case there was an evening torchlight trip to see (amongst other things) the nocturnal wallabies who also share property and are normally pretty much invisible. So I would expert further improvements to be brought in. In our experience, it was already very special.

This was an excellent stay. The food was fantastic and the scenery fabulous. Roberta was a wonderful guide on our two excursions. She has a very sharp eye and a good knowledge, as she know where we would be able to find koalas in the wild. She even spotted an echidna on the way back to Sea Dragon on our last full day. And we were able to watch kangaroos from our deck. All in all, a wonderful stay.

Without any doubt one of the very best places to stay while on Kangaroo Island... superb location with amazing views, delicious meals and breakfast, very friendly staff... we stayed for 5 nights, and after every excursion we did, this was a wonderful place to come home to...absolutely the most important ingredient to make our holiday on KI unforgettable! The entire Island can be visited from this rather remote spot; it takes some driving, but then the drives themselves are always relaxing and scenic, so don't worry about that...

One of the best holidays we have ever had -3 days at the Sea Dragon paradise. There are so many positives including a beautiful room and great food. However the highlight was the wonderful hospitality provided by Karen and her team. We would have no hesitation in returning to Sea Dragon one day.

Sea Dragon is billed as a luxury resort but it needs a lot to get there.. it’s just a lot of little things which grate..inexperienced staff, limited breakfast setup, the cabins are ok but not luxurious, roads in the property need upgrading ect. Its location at one end of the island is a negative as you do a lot of driving to get to the other end of the island. We enjoyed it but the cost did not match our expectations of the level of our experience we had expected. It wasn’t bad but could be better

This is one of the best places we have ever been at. Marvelous rooms, excellent kitchen, breathtaking view, nice personnel, interesting organized tours with well prepared guides. Kanguroos, wallabies, birds, exciting wildlife in the neighborhood.

The hotel is located on the east side of the island. Lying isolated with a lovely view of the sea. The estate is full with kangaroos, who were greeting us in the mornings and at dusk. The rooms are tastefully furnished and clean. Half board was included with excellent continental breakfast and very good dinner. Great service as well. We participated in the organized tours/excursions to different parts of the island and the were also great.
