This is the second time we’ve stayed in this hotel and our second experience was very different to our first a few years ago. The hotel is going down hill unfortunately, it is in need of some major refurbishments. Check in was from 3pm, we arrived at 3:30pm and our room was not ready until after 4pm. We were informed the restaurant is not open and now the bar is the only place for dinner. We went to the bar, stood at the “please wait to be seated sign” for over 10 minutes while staff looked at us and walked on. We eventually sat ourselves and advised the staff we would do so. No one came to take our drink order, my husband waited nearly 25 minutes at the bar to be served. The food was good, but the service terrible. The male staff members were bickering. At one point a poor American man asked the bartender what whiskey they had and the bar tender responded “it’s an Irish pub, so Jameson” and then walked off! They had plenty more than Jameson and the American man looked so stunned at the response. Our room was fine, clean and a big space however our toilet seat had burn marks on it? Not sure what that was about but a bit odd. The one good thing I will say, the blonde woman in the restaurant who seems to be the senior member of staff, she was great, super lovely and apologetic to us after our experience.

Unfortunately this wasn’t a good stay for us. Reception was chaotic to say the least. Lack of information about the hotel. The desk was so busy reception couldn’t find anything and seemed stressed. Carpets up and down the stairs were filthy. Definitely in need of TLC. Rooms were okay. Food not the best unfortunately.

Myself , my husband and son had a meal and dessert. Food was really bad. Very small portions. My stew had hardly any meat and no veg included with it except one small scoop of mashed potato. Very plain and expensive for what it was. A take away meal from the supermarket would have been better. Left the restaurant with €94 less in my wallet and very unsatisfied.

Terrible.. front of house manager, rude and incompetent. Poor choice of food, not able to accommodate allergies properly Real pity as surrounding area is beautiful Also young staff could only work with what they had and were treated very badly by front of house manager

We stayed here for 3 nights beginning of May. I am very glad I didn't read the reviews before I booked!!!! People must remember it's 3☆ not 5. We wanted a centre point to sightsee the surrounding countryside. Maten the front of house manager and Barbara where absolutely brilliant, friendly and caring. Food was lovely, especially breakfast. Beds very comfortable. Would highly recommend.

After a cold start, as in the hot water was non existent in our room until after 7pm on the day of our arrival, i could not complain. The hotel was so traditional, plenty of nooks and cranny's. The room itself was just what we needed, somewhere to sleep, it was spotless, fresh crisp white bedsheets, fresh looking carpet and a clean bathroom that actually had a bath!! The staff were helpful and the breakfast was the type of breakfast that sets you up for the day. Its a hikers hotel and hiking is just what we were doing. Up in the morning, had the breakkie and out hiking. getting back just in time for some dinner and a few drinks. The location is something you just cant buy and shows of the very best Wicklow has to offer. I cant wait for my next trip to Glendalough for a hike!

Had food here after doing a walk . Very disappointing. Ordered the chicken wings which were a very small portion for the price we paid . 17 euro for about 10 chicken wings with barely any meat on them and zero flavour . Food was overpriced and poor quality .

We had a lovely stay and would highly recommend a stay at the Glendalough Hotel. The Service was excellent, Barbara looked after us very well. All the staff were very attentive and lovely to deal with. The dinner menu was excellent as I am a vegetarian and there were 3 options for mains. We stayed for two nights and walked around glendalough and will be going back.
