After a wonderful and eventful four-week trip through New Zealand, we spent the last six days with David at Bay View Valley Lodge. These six days were the highlight of our trip and we were very sad when we had to say goodbye to David. David is a very attentive, helpful and sensitive host. We really enjoyed starting the morning with a wonderful breakfast at a lovingly laid table, chatting with David and taking in the wonderful views of the countryside and sea into our hearts and memories. In those six days David made us feel as if we had come as guests and left as friends. We can only wish every traveler in New Zealand to enjoy a stay at Bayview Valley Lodge with David.

Bayview Valley Lodge was a lovely surprise, way beyond our expectations. From the moment we stepped onto the front porch and saw our personal welcome message we sensed it was going to be very special. David went above and beyond to make it so, from his amazing breakfasts, with homemade breads and fresh eggs from his chickens, served on the beautifully set table in front of the picture-window with ‘views to die for’ across the bay. Our suite (Tui Suite) was very homely with the most comfortable bed and feather pillows and with more stunning views out over the bay. David was a wonderful host, he made us feel more like old friends than clients. It was hard to leave but we will very definitely stay again.

Bayview Valley Lodge is a superb inn in a glorious location. The views from the outdoor hot tub are wonderful and the night skies were amazing. Our suite was large with a fabulous bed and lovely linens. The bathroom was large and has lovely soaps, shampoos and conditioner. Our host David is committed to providing a wide range of excellent services to ensure that each guest has the most lovely time. He is knowledgeable and readily shares his recommendations for outings, beaches and restaurants in the area. David is a wonderful chef and the breakfasts served were delicious, nutritious and so well plated. We had a magnificent dinner at The Lodge which David prepared and made the choices for wine pairings as well. David is passionate about The Lodge and his pride is very evident. Our stay was so memorable and we would not hesitate to recommend Bayview Valley Lodge - it is not to be missed!

From the moment I arrived David was an amazing host and just makes you feel like you’re at home in the slice of paradise . When you wake up in the morning and open the curtains and enjoy you cup of tea in bed looking out to sea with the most stunning sun rise you actually think you’re in heaven. Thank you so much David and keep up the amazing service you give to your guests

We had the pleasure of staying with David at Bayview Valley Lodge. David was very attentive, friendly and helpful. The suite was very clean, warm and inviting. Amazing views of the valley down to the beach. We would highly recommend staying at the Lodge.

We have just departed from Bayview Valley Lodge after a perfect 5 night stay. It was a wonderful start to our honeymoon and we absolutely loved the beautiful views, personal touches, delightful meals and comfortable accommodation on offer. Thank you to David for your kindness and looking after us so attentively, we have never felt more calm, relaxed and rested. It was everything we needed and more. The spa pool was an added bonus and certainly needed after exploring and driving around the beautiful areas during the day. This place is a piece of heaven in such a beautiful part of the world and would reccomend to anyone looking to visit New Zealand for pure luxury and excellent hospitality.

If I could give this an 11 out of 5 I certainly would do! We flew into Auckland and after a very long 25 hour flight we decided to head straight to Whitianga. We called the lodge in advance to say we were on our way. After a spectacular drive we arrive a little tired and rough around the edges. This being our honeymoon David our host knew exactly what to do and served us ice cold champagne and fresh fruit. A quick shower and change into our swimming gear and we started off in the hot tub. The room was brilliant! We had our own living room and separate bathroom all in the same apartment. This made us feel that we could pull away from the main house and relax in another wing but we really didn’t need too. The view was mesmerising, the photos really don’t do it justice. David is not just a spectacular host but has a huge knowledge for the area and NZ. Thank you so much! You made our 5 days in Whitianga more than perfect ! To any who want to stay here. My Wife and I really could not recommend this enough!
