If I could have given Dillington ten starts I would gave done so. My daughter and her fiance chose Dillington to host their recent wedding. The house is beautiful, nestling in its own extensive, well kept grounds and its appearance as a large country mansion is stunning. The choice offered to them for the ceremony was either outside in the grounds, or in the beautiful orangery. They chose the latter because of the unsettled weather. The reception room was beautifully decorated, but not overdone, leaving room on the tables for their extra touches. We were surrounded by some historical antiques portraits on the wall, giving the impression of dining in a grand baronial hall Also, as far as wedding venues go, the prices were very reasonable compared with other venues that had fewer facilities. As you enter the main house, there is a grand fireplace in the centre of the great entrance hall, that has a real log fire, I believe, in the winter, as a central focus. Charlotte, the wedding coordinator there, deserves special mention. Always smiling, always so accommodating and so pleasant, efficient and professional, nothing 3was too much trouble for her. Before the wedding, communication will was excellent and during the weekend she was always on hand. The staff were a delight, from the night watchman to the waiters, from the receptionist to the domestic staff. They were hard working yet unobtrusive, and always pleasant, well mannered and friendly. The food was impeccably cooked and delicious. Breakfasts were full English with a superb choice, the hot food hot and well cooked, and the bread, pastries and so on tasted if they were home made from the best ingredients. The wedding "breakfast" food was delicious, of high quality, and specially commented on very favourably by the guests. We stayed two nights over the weekend. The bedroom was clean, well furnished and very comfortable. There were nice touches too like a decent size en suite bathroom, tea, coffee and biscuits in the rooms as well as a bottle of local spring water for each guest, replaced daily. Rooms are split between the main house and the mews building nearby. Rooms there are wheelchair friendly. There is ample parking. It was simply a wonderful weekend Would I recommend Dillington as a wedding venue? Absolutely. It was simply a lovely experience.
