We came expecting to be cosy in the bar, eat and stay the night. As we pulled up outside we got an email, which didn't arrive until later, due to lack of service, to tell us the pub was not doing grub. Or drinks, as the bar was shut. As vegetarians and not wanting to travel any further, having had a horrid time trying to get there, due to shut roads Due to flooded fords and tree cutting, we were so pleased to just get there. Being told we couldn't eat was a big blow. The posh restaurant down the road had limited choices. ( who in their right minds would want a bean stew.? I speak as an ex chef. Luckily there was a Co Op across the road. We got sandwiches and wine! The room was great. Wish we could have had the full experience. Would go again if the kitchen was open.!

we booked this hotel a year ago when we found out my grandson was getting married at Danby Castle, We arrived the 13/9/24, and we parked our cars around the back of the hotel ,,We checked in and were shown to our rooms which were lovely clean nice towels shower gel/ shampoo on the bathroom , tea and coffee milk etc on the dresser big tv, we went down stairs once unpacked and all had drinks and a meal , we had various things i had mince and dumplings it was enough for 2 people i could r eat it all , Tge young nen behind the bar were very obliging , friendly and Ryan told us how expensive the taxis were from Danby Castle and offered to pick us up from the wedding for a fee which saved us money very kind of him , We got up sat morning and the girls had gone off to get their hair done but Nicola made sure they were fed before they left at 8,30, We all had lonely breakfast , We had an amazing day at the Wedding perfect day came back after ryan picked us all up, i needdd milk the landlady nicola was so lovely gave me a jug , we had a chat and then Sunday we all had full english which was so tasty , i will definitely return here in the future her daughter monica served breakfast so pleasant so thankyou Downe Arms for a lovely weekend we will be back xxx❤️

What a gem of a place arrived staff very friendly and polite had a meal on the Friday there were 8 of us had a meal which was fantastic piping hot very tasty few drinks went up to bed beds were comfy rooms were clean fresh towels tea coffee. Tv had a good nights sleep the Saturday we were at my brothers sons wedding at Danby castle the staff in the pub were helpful wedding was really exellent also a very big thankyou to Ryan who went out of his way to help us all get back safely and made two trips to pick us up when it finished 12 midnight for a small price saving us money so ask Ryan before you go I’m sure he will help well done to all the staff at the downe arms we will be back 😊👏👏👏👏👏👏

This gorgeous classic pub has blasted back on to the scene. The staff are great , helpful, and funny. The food is amazing and probably the best Parmos in the area already , but today we sampled the new Sunday Lunch and we were not disappointed it was stunning. Thankyou Jack and Liv Again
