The Wayside and Whisky Barn

Wonderful two night stay. Our host Emiko made our stay very pleasant. She has amazing local knowledge of the Lake district and surrounding area. Gave lots of advice on places to visit / restaurants etc Breakfast was all freshly cooked to order chosen in advance the night before. The room was very warm and cosy with a comfortable bed . We would definitely recommend staying here if you want to visit the area or are a whisky connoisseur.

All arrangements were well looked after by the host. It’s located in a not so busy place, 10 minutes drive to beach. The stay was very nice , meticulously arranged. Dinner and breakfast were very good. Certainly would love to come back. Thank you

We visited hotel on Easter Friday for two nights staying. Everything here -hotel, food, location , room - were fantastic. The host Emiko invited us as mostly welcomed best friends. It was a great Easter in our life. Highly recommend the hotel to everyone !

We spent an enjoyable few days away in Wayside Cottage. It is a very characterful yet comfortable old cottage with plenty of space and a lovely enclosed garden for the dogs. The location was ideal with the beach on the doorstep and local walks straight from the door. Plenty of things to do and visit in the local area with the rest of the Lake District easily accessible. The hosts were welcoming and friendly and very knowledgable about the local area and whisky!! We had a wonderful tasting session on one evening in the Whisky Barn right next door.Very handy!I I can thoroughly recommend a visit!

Fabulous find . We stayed only one night as we were attending a funeral nearby. The room was spacious lovely comfy bed , very clean and well stocked tea/ coffee. View from window was stunning. We had our evening meal which was delicious and excellent value for money. And of course we had to partake in a whiskey with very good recommendations! Good selection for breakfast, we had full English and it was also excellent. Certainly recommend this establishment and would definitely stay again in happier circumstances. Emiko is a lovely host and gave us lots of good suggestions on places to go locally with great views. The room is very comfortable, clean and beautiful. Both the breakfast and dinner as tasty. The whisky bar is much bigger than expected and very reasonably priced.

Emiko was very friendly and helpful through the booking process and it continued through our stay. The accommodation is immaculate and comfortable. We stayed in for dinner, which was delicious! The array of whisky is impressive. Fabulous!

Amazing night at the Wayside. Lovely accommodation, rooms fantastic and exceptionally clean. The host, Emiko, was very welcoming and exceptionally knowledgeable about the whiskies available, of which there were over 160. Food was very nice, and Doreen very friendly and helpful. Very relaxed a**osphere and nothing was too much trouble. Loved it, will definately go back.

We stayed at the self catering cottage which is next door to the bed and breakfast accommodation and the Whisky Barn. The cottage had a very calm Zen like a**osphere, simple but beautiful furnishings and lovely prints and fabrics. The place has been very carefully planned out with a lovely family bathroom on the first floor (waterfall taps, heated mirror and skylight so that you can watch the clouds go by while you relax in the bath :)) and a wet room on the ground floor, together with washing machine and dryer. An extremely well organised kitchen with everything you might need, and an Ellesse Aga type oven that worked well. We went with our dog and there was a secure grassy garden at the back which he happily wandered around. We haven't been to the Western Lakes before but there was lots to see and do - beautiful beaches, steam railway and castle nearby, fells to walk to from the cottage, great restaurants and Coniston Water about half an hours drive away. It took longer to get to than other parts of The Lakes, but there were fewer cars and people and lovely surroundings. I would love to go again, and if I did, I would certainly stay at Wayside Cottage.
