We had a stopover here on the way from Scotland to Lake District, and we were impressed by the rustic and peaceful environment, as well as the charming vine-covered buildings. Our room was clean, and WiFi was good (considering that we were in the countryside). The breakfast, included in our room rate, was excellent, with generous servings. Try not to bring too much luggage when staying here, as there is no lift in the building and there are multiple doors along the corridors and stairs. The price here is very competitive, compared to hotels in the Lake District.

We had a wonderful time at Wheyrigg Hall hotel. The room was basic but very clean. The shower was the best ive had in a hotel for a long time. We had a lovely breakfast both mornings of our stay. There are some great places to visit in the area too Wigton and Maryport. My favourite was Silloth it is like going back in time, its a peaceful quiet Victorian seaside resort and a great place to walk along the seafront. Then back to the Wheyrigg for their delicious home cooked food for our evening meals both days. We had intended finding a restaurant to eat out in in Maryport on our second evening but the food was so lovely at the Wheyrigg that we booked again for the night after. This place is a gem.

Excellent location in the Cumbrian countryside but not too far from Maryport and Carlisle not to mention the start or is it, the end of Hadrian's Wall. The accommodation is very comfortable, clean and well maintained. The staff are very friendly, approachable and helpful. The food is excellent and if you get the chance get there on a Friday evening which is 'Steak Night' and I can recommend the sirloin! They also serve a decent pint!

Very clean room ,the owners and staff very friendly ,a nice bar and the food was excellent . was bought a Gift voucher and used it to stay at Wheyrigg Hall Hotel and glad we did. There are minor things which could be improved on i.e tidy up the outside seating area at the front of the building and maybe put some more hanging baskets up ,it looks like the owners have started making some improvements so all in all a very nice stay. A word of warning do not order a starter if you are having the mini mixed grill unless you can eat a horse it is huge and very nice ,compliments to the chefs
