The Ocean Guesthouse

I had the most fantastic day staying at the Ocean Guesthouse in Weymouth! From the moment I arrived, everything was just perfect. The bedroom had an absolutely stunning view of the harbour – there’s truly nothing like falling asleep to the sound of the ocean right outside your window. So peaceful and calming. Maxine, the host, was an absolute delight. So warm, welcoming, and full of positive energy – she really made the stay feel special. Thank you, Maxine, for being such a joy! The room itself was spotless and the bed? Hands down, the comfiest I’ve ever slept in. Topped off with a bloody good vegan breakfast in the morning, I couldn’t have asked for more. I already can’t wait to come back for another visit. Highly, highly recommended!

This was a fantastic B&B, good location great breakfast and the rooms were outstanding! We had room 5, the view was superb and the bed was so comfy, shower was great and there was even a little box of things you might have forgotten such as cotton buds, creams etc… nice little touch! But more importantly the host Maxine was so lovely and welcoming, the attention to detail in the whole house was incredible, few pics attached but you really have to go to see it in person! We will definitely be back to stay and hopefully have another rum session 🤣

Hoo, boy, where to begin... First, our own error—this is the only place we have ever stayed, in any country, let alone in any town along the Jurassic Coast, that notes a deadline for check in. Unfortunately, because of the bus routes from Seatown to Weymouth (which at the time we were there ran once every hour), we got there around 7pm; check in apparently closed at 6, which we had unfortunately forgotten, but coming in from the US, our cell reception was spotty and we were tired enough that we forgot to double check. Supposedly the landlady had been trying to call us since 1pm, but none of the calls came through—not sure if it was misdialed or just a reception issue. So, if we screwed up there, we're happy to own up to that, and encourage guests to make sure they note what time they'll be arriving. Now, when we finally did arrive, we rang the bell, the landlady opened up, and immediately started berating us, saying we were lucky she even bothered to open the door. (She was actively drinking along with two other friends of hers in the reception area, so that may have had something to do with it.) We were given grief about our luggage being too large, with her saying at one point that she might not allow us to even bring them up to the rooms because she was concerned about her stairwell carpet and the floors in her rooms, and told us in no uncertain terms that we would NOT be going upstairs with packs on our backs because everything on the walls was collectible and worth too much money. She then told us how we had overpaid for the rooms, having booked through a third party vendor, which was not the case—we booked directly through her website, and I confirmed by starting to make another booking that we paid exactly what she normally charges for a Sunday night check in. We were also told that we were not allowed to eat food in the room and to use the dining area... but she never told us that apparently the dining area gets locked at a certain point, so when we showed back up after exploring the town a bit, we had to turn back around and go eat outside! And when I went back down to discuss breakfast after we were finally allowed to bring our bags up, I was berated for cracking my knuckles in such a way that reminded me of my mother criticizing that same habit—all in all, a very unwelcoming, rude, and wholly off-putting greeting that frankly spoiled the rest of our night. At a certain point, I just have to wonder why she bothers to run a guest house if she clearly has no personal interest in dealing with her guests. All that said... the room was actually really nice! (Though for all her concerns about the floors, the wall paper was scuffed where the TV had been put in, and there were tears in the curtains covering the window, so it's not exactly in pristine shape.) The bed was very comfortable, and there clearly has been thought put into the things available to guests, including a hot water bottle for cold nights. The fridge was turned off—being fro

Very clean house. Unique rooms. Close to the beach. Just few minutes. Very friendly owner. English breakfast was really tasty.

Lovely location on the harbour, Maxine the owner is a gem, made us very comfortable and any advice of where to eat etc she was always on hand .

Always amazing, Maxine is the perfect host! Can’t wait for our next visit
