Camp Figtree by the Oyster Collection

Camp Figtree is a luxorious stay high in the mountains. You get a phenomenal view, a very friendly team, great food and some little adventural experiences (which IMO should be part of a safari). Our tent was very comfortable and nicely designed.

Trip of a lifetime but I’ll be back! For the lodge the best part of any hotel/lodge is the room and bed! The most important element of a hotel/lodge is a comfortable bed. Some beds have scratchy sheets but you do not. I remember just sinking into the bed and immediately falling asleep. It was like sleeping on a cloud and then we woke up to the most beautiful scenery from out deck looking out at the bush. The second element about the lodge was the food. I must admit, I was always so full from dinner that I never ate desert. The dinner far exceeded any expectations that I had. I had beef one evening and pork the other. It was never possible to finish either meal. For the excursions that the lodge arranged, we did several excursions. (Addo Elephant Park, Walk with the elephants at Barefoot Addo Elephant Lodge, Schotia Tooth & Claw Safari, Bellevue Forest Reserve giraffe tracking safari) All of these excursions were more than we could have ever expected. I did not expect to see much since it was full summer and I read that it is the time of the year with the least activity but this is not true. They were all wonderful but I have always loved elephants so the Figtree Addo Elephant Part was overwhelming. I would love to come back and spent the entire day there watching the elephants. I don’t think that it would ever get tiring! It was just speculator. The Schotia Tooth & Claw night game drive was over six hours but the time flew by quickly. Too quickly. I must admit, I was a little scared at times and I think we were a bit too close to the lion and rhino. I just needed to trust our guide and the people in our vehicle.

I would really recommend a stay here, the staff were fantastic, super knowledgeable and helpful (they really went above and beyond). The location is beautiful with stunning views and the food was surprisingly excellent (given how remote this place is). I would definitely return. One thing I would flag is that this is definitely a little rustic (luxury rustic but rustic), wildlife is all around (as you may expect in the middle of the bush land) so if you’re very scared of wildlife it is probably worth considering that before booking.

Wonderful stay at Camp Figtree. The rooms are beautiful and the views are superb. Dinner and drinks were great but what sets it above and beyond are the staff. Simba was one of the most interesting and helpful individuals I have met for a long time and Sia was an incredibly knowledgeable safari guide. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back

Amazing situation on top of a mountain with great views. Luxury tent with large bed and outside stoep. Good food at breakfast/lunch/dinner. Nice dining/lounge/bar/pool areas. Various activities available. Staff friendly and helpful.
