"Bean" Backus (American, 1906-1990), a largely self-taught artist who created iconic images of the timeless beauty of the Florida landscape. History: -This historical Mission style building was built in 1925 by farmer merchant Charles Leininger Kegerreis and Mary Kegerreis. Charles who were born in 1865 and died in West Palm Beach in 1954. According to the Palm Beach City Historic Preservation Planner, it is a "local example of a Mission apartment building representative of a period of phenomenal growth in West Palm Beach from 1915 - 1930." The neighborhood: -The Golden Alligator is located in the Jefferson Terminal District of West Palm Beach and is just a few blocks away from the Grandview Market, a renovated 13,000-square-foot space showcase for area chefs and live entertainment, Steel Tie Spirits Co. is a family-owned craft distillery thar sells locally crafted rum and vodka, and Steam Horse, which brews high-quality, traditional and experimental craft beers with a spacious 6,000 square-foot tap room. Also called the “Warehouse District”, it’s a combination of industrial offices along the main Okeechobee Rd and residential houses in the back . It’s completely safe and quiet and is even more quiet in the weekend.
