Chapwani is an island located opposite the port of Stone Town, 30-40 minutes by boat. All the bungalows have a view of the city which is also a commercial port with container ships. The positive points: - the free shuttle which allows you to visit Stone Town in the morning, without having to stay in town - the quality of the breakfast (no buffet) and the dinner, plentiful and well cooked - the tranquility of the island which only has a few bungalows The negative points: - We had been told that the hotel offered excursions, but nothing was offered to us. Other customers asked for a snorkeling excursion and got their way with much argument. Similarly, we had been told about a spa but there is none. - The management is not very friendly. - Snorkeling in the immediate vicinity of the island: there is nothing to see. And contrary to what we had been told, there is not much more at low tide on the reef. Nobody seems to set foot there. - Uninviting swimming pool, because it is filled with sea water and cloudy (the water around the island is not very clean, probably because of the proximity of the city and the big boats), and not very clean beach: waste is brought back with each tide, and the hotel staff only cleans the biggest, once in a while. - No ecological conscience: several plastic bottles of water are provided to customers every day: why not place a carafe in the room, which would be directly filled every day? - Finally, the bungalows are frankly spartan: a bed, a small desk, a mosquito net. The fan does not turn at night (no electricity). The shower rooms are frankly dilapidated (rusty taps, relative cleanliness). In short, a good solution to spend 2 nights in Stone Town without being in the heart of the city, but certainly not worth the price that is charged (500 USD per night for a two-bedroom bungalow, for 2 adults and 2 children)
