Absolutely great service and friendly staff

Set in a beautiful garden setting on high ground overlooking sea. Old colonial style architecture. Rooms are basic but have no kettle in the room. Toiletries, mosquito nets, excellent WiFi. Lovely staff. Great big breakfast and excellent coffee. No pool. Beach is long way downhill surrounded by mangrove. Need to walk some distance Shops and main road for transport nearby. Airport 4 kilometres, a Taxis costs 20000 Tsh. The number 506 dala dala goes into Stone Town from Mimi cafe.. Would definitely stay again

The views from the hotel overlooking the ocean was quite nice. In terms of the room, which was one of the outer ones, it was slightly below expectations, a bit small and the bathroom facilities could be a bit better in terms of the set up. The staff were nice and helpful. It’s quiet and serene, good for a getaway from the hustle and bustle.

The staff here are so very kind, attentive and helpful but sadly there is nothing else good to be said, they are working in very difficult circumstances. As part of a chain it is hard to believe the lack of investment, the mattresses are poor quality and uncomfortable, as are the pillows, there is no proper shower (a metre high bracket over a tiny bath that has no plug), everything is completely run down. It is clean and the staff obviously do their very best with the conditions available. The breakfast is well presented but very small and limited and no fresh fruit which is unusual for the island. It is unvelievably noisy between rooms, there isn’t a full wall in the bathroom and mesh about 2.5m up to the hallway so you can hear every movement and word of other guests. The staff in the hotel were responsive to complaints and offered other equally poorly maintained rooms but contacting the management they were dismissive. The gardens are beautifully cared for and the view was a saving grace to our three day stay. But don’t book here. If you are in the area Mimi’s cafe and the Wooden Table Restaurant at the Mbweni ruins and gardens are both brilliant options for food in a short walk.
