The folks that own this are top notch… very quaint place! Stayed in cabin #12…updated bathroom, has its own kitchen and patio looking at the lake! Does not offer breakfast but enough options in area if you don’t cook your own! Don’t hesitate to stay here!

Older appliances, and not a lot of ammeneties but there was dishes, TV, free wifi, and a deck off the back overlooking Lake Superior. Bring your own coffee, water and food. there are dishes and cookware. I loved it. Pet friendly too. No A.C., but being right on the lake, the ceiling fan kept the room comfortable. Pretty good for my money. I would definitely come back.

We stayed in Cabin #4 which sits right on Lake Superior. It was an excellent choice as you could hear and see the waves hit the rock shelves. Cabin #4 has two bedrooms with queen beds, single bathroom, kitchen living room facing the lake. Interior is knotty pine and exterior is log like. Modern kitchen appliances: fridge, gas stove and oven and microwave . Living area has a log chair and log futon to sit on. If you need it, there is a TV. And Dish satellite . There is a dinning table with 4 chairs. All linens, towels, cookware, silverware, coffee pot, cups, glassware, etc is provided. Nice deck table and chairs on the deck below. You are nestled at waters edge under the pine trees to just sit and enjoy the ambiance of Mother Nature at her finest. There are several places to go out and eat and the famous Gunflint Trail is only fifteen miles away. What’s not to enjoy? We stayed for three nights and the only complaint we have was that the mattresses need to be replaced otherwise we loved the place.

Upon checking in for my stay of 4 nights, I was given 2 gallons of drinking water. I was assured their well water was okay but tasted terrible. I went to my motel room and found the heater was not working. At that point, the receptionist told me there was a gas leak and they turned the gas off. When I protested, they gave me a different room at the same rate. The second morning of my stay I was informed that the room was rented to someone else that night and to leave. I was offered a cabin that had a cancellation, but it was full of wood smoke. I did get a refund of my two missed nights but had no place to stay and had to drive home, 6 hours.

The view couldn’t be beat. The cabin on the other hand was not so good. Everything was sticky. No matter how many times I used antibacterial wipes to wipe it down the stickiness was still there. The floor was so dirty that the bottoms of our slippers became filthy. Yes I washed the floor but it didn’t help. The cabin had a neglected feeling. The water was not drinkable and they provided gallons of water for drinking. It did have new windows but the curtains were stained and dirty. Two days we didn’t have water until noon. Once was a broken pipe the other we don’t know why. This delayed plans for the day. We did notice the water pressure in the morning was low. The cabin looks way bigger in the pictures in reality was it was tiny. You couldn’t walk around the bed but it was comfortable although very small. The bathroom was so tiny forget about dressing in there after a shower. The shower had low pressure and ran out of hot water fast. We had to leave our suitcases by the dining table and dress out of there. The staff was very friendly. It just feels like the whole place is suffering from neglect. The people who stayed next to us said the Jonas house carpet looked like somebody had been murdered there it was so full of awful stains. We weren’t prepared for the horrible amounts of bugs either. They were in everything. Spiders were the worst but the moths and mosquitoes were awful as well. This was a nostalgic trip for my partner who stayed here in the 80’s with her family. She said the cabins were not like this then. We were very disappointed and won’t stay here again. The cost was very high for how bad the cabin was. They need to get their cleaning people to clean better at the least. We were in cabin six so we were able to piggyback on the Jonas House wifi..

Two of us stayed on one of the 2-bedroom fireplace suites for 5 nights. We were here to take in waterfall season on the north shore and this was a great location in the middle of the territory we wanted to cover. The place is rustic, but clean and with very comfortable beds. TV and wi-fi aren't so reliable, but we weren't here for that. Plenty of hot water for the shower at the end of a day of hiking. There was the usual assortment of kitchen stuff that will get you by if you don't plan on gourmet cooking here. Only complaint about that we had was that they need to upgrade their corkscrews! The staff was friendly and helpful. All in all, it was a great value for a clean, comfortable, central upper north shore location if you're not the kind that is tied to technology and has to have fancy accommodations.

Stayed in motel for a couple nights while taking in some ski days at Lutsen. This place is a pet friendly budget option but needs some updating. Great view of the lake, relatively clean, however room had odor, small heater that was noisy, water stains on ceiling, missing handles on cabinetry, beds were decent but plywood for box springs (sore back). Main lodge was cozy with fireplace. No dogs in lodge (except for worker’s dogs). Cabins may be a better option.

My family has stayed here 4 times over the last 10 years. Some of the cabins are super close to the lake and it's beautiful. But the manager (Dawn?) is a terrible beast and not worth the hassle. In the hotel there were super loud noises all night and no hot water for 2 days. No apology and no partial refund given. We were charged for extra people that we did not have. We asked for an extra garbage bag (there was only one given for a 4 night stay) and we were grilled about how many people we had there. We had 2. It's just not worth the stress.
