Although the hotel is a little worn, the staff were wonderful and did their absolute best to provide top notch service.

Fundamentally this place it tired and with the pub alongside it that has closed… apparently on its last legs. I have a particular dislike of staff that not only request feedback but request that it is overwhelmingly positive because “the pressure is real”… Try providing good service to earn it rather than ask for it. I will be looking elsewhere in future.

We arrived after a 3 hour journey to a very warm welcome. Shout out to Darren the manager and the lovely receptionist Fran for their hospitality it was greatly appreciated. Hotel is very clean and tidy and the staff are always happy to help with any needs you have. I would highly recommend and will return for another trip

We used to go to the Stanborough a lot. We'd get a big family room near a well-staffed reception, and in the morning my dad would come over for a decent breakfast in the restaurant with us and the kids. Well, not any more. Staff numbers slashed. Pub closed. Guests-only breakfasts in a tiny area made of former bedrooms. Family rooms now miles from the poorly-staffed reception. The rooms are smaller than before, on the first floor, with no aircon despite (just about) "sleeping four". Breakfasts are really poor quality, being made by one over-stretched chef and a single coffee machine. On the plus side, the spilled chocolate milkshake (I hope that’s what it was) that sat outside reception had gone by day 4, though I think its disappearence was more to do with the rain. I think I've given the Stanborough 4/5 or 5/5 in the past. That's changed.

The lovely people serving at the restaurant/bar were ace. Everyone made us feel welcome and we will definitely be coming back again. Also lovely food and drink served. Absolutely fantastic and made our slam dunk weekend experience even better!

We booked a family room for three nights and have just returned home. It was everything we hoped for. The rooms were spotlessly clean, it was warm but we are in the warmest may ever and a fan was provided. We all slept really well. Breakfast was super, plenty on offer, and really fresh. Prisca was lovely and couldn’t do enough to help - we will try those croissants next time ! The staff were superb. Incredibly helpful and obviously working incredibly hard. We would definitely come back, our stay was faultless. We would definitely recommend and will be back again. Thank you

Darren and Aaron where really great members of staff very attentive and really friendly nothing was too much for them. We really relaxed and had a good meal and a couple of drinks. They made us feel comfortable and had a good repore with the customers

We stayed as part of a large group; a mixture of adults and teenagers. Check in was quick and easy, the rooms were fine; clean, nice fluffy towels, tea and coffee, bed was decent too. What makes this hotel is the excellent staff! So personable, helpful and accommodating… nothing was too much trouble; service with a smile and willing to go the extra mile. As we were traveling for a sports competition, the lovely chef sent us away from breakfast with a selection of freshly cooked croissants and pain au chocolat, to keep the girls going. We ate in the restaurant for dinner - this was ok, quite a limited menu but did the job. Breakfast was good - lots of choice and cater for gluten free. Overall, a great stay!
