It's close to Queen's Wharf. The rooms are large and tall. The outer building is very European style. Arrive, very good feeling, if the price can still be recommended

It's an older hotel and the halls smell a little funky but that quickly fades. The rooms show some signs of wear but are clean and have all the things you need. The bed was clean and comfy. The dining room was cozy and inviting. There seemed to be a little confusion in the kitchen, I know places are short staffed, but the food that arrived I really enjoyed. It is close to lots of things, I was on foot for this trip. The value was good for the price and I would stay here again.

It is very convenient to book for guests on Ctrip, but they can only be paid in the store. I called and asked about the email, and I gave the authorization letter to fill in the information and pay after leaving the store. The hotel is the best in Wellington.

I was so impressed with the reception staff, who were friendly, accommodating and professional. Claudia and Ella went out of their way to help, and did it with a smile. Claudia met us to drop off a key for the car park, which was very thoughtful as my mother can't walk far these days. Our room is lovely, so central, modern and fresh. Great to just step out the door, and be so close to the shops and other activities...its just a hop skip and a jump from the cable car. Given the 5 star treatment we've received, I would definitely stay here again, when next visiting Wellington. I will also consider booking a Quay hotel when traveling around NZ. Thanks again to Ella and Claudia!

I have just had a one night stay at this hotel and splurged on a Junior Suite which was well worth it. The room was beautiful...better than the photos suggested which is really unusual!! Due to current low staffing levels (the bane of hospitality everywhere atm) they currently don't offer valet parking and this was the low-light of the stay. Obviously I completely understand the staffing issues but.... On arrival (at approx 10.30pm due to a 4+ hour ferry delay) I was dismayed to find the doors locked but staff were available to let me in. I unloaded and my bags were taken to my room and I had to park the car myself. Other than being really tired and not up for negotiating Wellington CBD's notorious one way system to get to the car-park, this was fine and not usually something I would gripe about. The car-park is actually directly attached to the hotel which is perfect, but I had to drive around the block in a counter-intuitive manner to get to the car-park. I knowingly drove the wrong way down a 1-way St to make my life easier as it was okay to do it at that time of night with deserted streets. An hour or so later I called for room service (several times) and no-one answered the phone on any occasion. I knew they were short-staffed so no problem, I wandered down to reception to order a meal. I had the chicken laksa which was nice. The midday check out was wonderful and check-out was seamless. But I had a major issue getting out of the car-park and I'm not sure if this is my fault or the Hiltons fault. On arrival I was given an information sheet regarding the parking and this included the exit code. I committed this to memory and off I went. However, on entering the code at the car-park exit point the barrier did not rise. Traffic built up behind me rapidly and my blood pressure and stress levels ramped up accordingly. I had the correct code and on subsequent attempts to get out, tried the code followed by the # key and also tried the code followed by the tick/green light key but no dice. I tried calling reception but got no answer and was just about in tears when a kind man (about 5 cars back on a narrow exit point in a typical inner city parking building) walked down and used his card to let me out. Thank god for him whoever he was. This was really stressful as I had been on the road for 2 weeks and was about to embark on the last leg of my journey and just didn't need the stress. I was particularly annoyed they did not answer the phone when I called. I called a 2nd time but by the time I got some-one on the phone the good samaritan had let me out. I definitely had the correct code to exit the car-park but was not aware I needed to press the tick/green key afterwards (although...I did try this and it didn't work... I may have entered this final step too late because I didn't know it was needed). I can't recall seeing this instruction on the info sheet I was given. Hence...it may have been my fault...or not?? Either

This place was booked by a family member for the criteria of being cheap and close to the CBD. The location was excellent and could not really fault that. The parking was a bit variable with lots of free metered parks when we arrived on Xmas Day but found it hard to find one during the late afternoons and had to park in adjacent streets on some days. The parking garage options were also a bit pricey. As we arrived on Xmas Day, no one assisted us with our luggage so we took it upon ourselves to get a luggage trolley and go up the lifts to our rooms. Passageways leading to the rooms were a bit narrow. The key access was fine although the door strike plate was hanging on by a single screw and looked like it would fall off anytime soon. The rooms were small, functional with a sofa bed that gave me a slightly sore back in the morning. The main bedroom had a queen bed which was nice. Kitchen facilities were adequate. Room service was a bit lacking - on our 3 night stay, the room was only cleaned on the second morning and we only had 2 towels for the 4 of us initially. The bathroom was really cramped and uncomfortable. Did not try the washer dryer. The views were reasonable - mainly of buildings across the street. Wifi access was rather sporadic. Overall I would only recommend this to people on business for a maximum of 2 nights. Not really designed for families.
