We stayed at cabin 3N at the Redwoods of Yosemite this week. The management was very responsive and easy to work with. However, the cabin was extremely out of date (think asbestos linoleum peeling off the floor) and most importantly, absolutely overrun with deer mice, the type that can carry hantavirus. When we first saw a mouse and reported it, the management immediately responded by sending out housekeeping to clean again and maintenance with mousetraps. However, it soon became apparent that it was completely infested. We spent the evening standing on couches to escape the mice running all around on the floor. We called after hours maintenance and were told it wasn’t an emergency and there was nothing that could be done until morning. We called around everywhere else we could find to try to get out immediately but everywhere was booked and it was after hours by that point, so we spent a sleepless night here and then at 4am packed up and left. When we got in touch with management later in the morning, they were very understanding and willing to work with us, giving us a refund and stating they would try to thoroughly exterminate the mice. Overall, the location is great and some of the cabins looked very nice, this cabin has a great deck and a nearby fishing/swimming hole, but there is unfortunately currently an extreme mouse problem. Do not risk your family’s health.
